Let Yourself Be Carried

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Let yourself be carried today. That means you need make no decisions on your own. It means you need not make any judgments on your own or decide what anything means on your own. The idea of being on your own is just a false idea that is not true.

You are still as God created you. This means formless Love is What you are eternally. Formless Love knows only formless Love. Today let yourself be carried and know the truth that only formless Love is What you are and What everyone is. This is what it means to let yourself be carried.

Robert:
We are frequently reminded that we are being carried and that we need to let ourselves be carried. This is because there is a long established habit of believing that we are on our own, which is the denial that we are being carried — that we remain in the Heart of God. We are being encouraged to kick the habit.

Like any addiction, the habit of believing we are on our own has destructive consequences. It brings with it fear, pain and guilt. But the good news is there is a better way. And being reminded to let ourselves be carried is pointing us in the direction of the better way. We just need to take one day at a time, one moment at a time, to remember that we remain as Love created us and let Love carry us.

And so today I will practice remembering that I am being carried. If I fall off the wagon, I will pick myself up, dust off the guilt and remind myself again that I remain Love as Love created me and I am carried in that Love.

Staying Anchored in Quiet

Mary and Robert:
During our time of quiet this morning, Holy Spirit brought in the idea to allow periods of quiet several times a day to step back from the activity of the world. It is like going to a little quiet cove where the waters are still and the wind is calm.

Spirit reminded us to anchor there a little while and rest in the stillness. In that stillness we receive inspiration. It gives time for purification from any false ideas that need to be corrected. Allowing time for this frequently throughout the day keeps our ship well tuned for the Holy Spirit’s purpose.

We found this to be very helpful because we are getting ready for our trip to San Francisco and there are a lot of details that need to be taken care of in the world. Spirit brought this idea to us to help us stay consistently connected. Frequently taking time to be still allows us to stay on track so that we let ourselves be carried instead of trying to act on our own. Stepping back frequently is a powerful habit that we want to implement more fully as a standard daily practice.

We see great power in this practice. We are very grateful that we are being shown, step by step, how to walk through the dream story in peace. We want to stay aligned with Holy Spirit’s plan to be truly helpful. Moving into Holy Spirit’s cove of quietness is a way to keep our ship on course.

Learning to See God’s Guiltless Son

Mary:
In our reading of A Course in Miracles this morning, this is what stood out to me:

…the Son of God is guiltless now, and the brightness of his purity shines untouched forever in God’s Mind. God’s Son will always be as he was created. Deny your world and judge him not, for his eternal guiltlessness is in the Mind of his Father, and protects him forever. …As you perceive the holy companions (every brother) who travel with you, you will realize that there is no journey, but only an awakening. (T-13.I.5:6-8,7:1)

This world was made up in our minds to project the guilt that came with the desire to usurp God’s Will and establish a will of our own. The way out of this madness is to be willing to let our true Self show us everyone’s innocence. In truth, nothing has happened to change God’s one, perfect, loving Son. As I am willing to see innocence everywhere, I wake up from the dream of guilt.

This is my practice for today — to step back again and again and again to be shown the innocence that is eternally there in every brother. And I will receive what I ask for in my heart of hearts.

Robert:
The more I read ACIM, the more it is reinforced that the way to awaken is to let go of judgment. This is another way of saying “to forgive.” If I see a brother as a body, I am judging him as limited to that image. I am not seeing him as he is. I need to let this go. If I believe anyone is a body, including myself, I am unable to see the reality of Love. Love has no limits and has no form. It is simply the free and eternal extension of joy and peace. Love cannot be limited by any image.

While I seem to be walking in the world with a body, the body’s eyes will show me images. That’s what it was made to do. But I don’t have to believe these images have any meaning or value. As I practice letting my true Self interpret all that I seem to see, I will learn to look past the images. Their seeming importance will fade and the Light of Love will shine through with increasing brilliance. This is how I truly want to see the world, for this is how I will learn of the Love that I am. My practice today is to let my true Self be the interpreter of all things.

Listen and Learn the Truth

Robert:
My practice today is to see everyone, including myself, as God’s Son, complete and healed and whole, shining in the reflection of His Love. This practice will help me remember that I remain as Love created me. And I give thanks.

Mary:
Today is a day of stepping back and listening to my inner Mentor, my inner Teacher. Stepping back means stepping aside from all of the ego’s thoughts and being willing to let my mind be still… My inner Teacher is heard when I allow my mind to quiet. In quiet, Inspiration comes quite naturally of Itself… And for this I give thanks. This is my practice for today.

See the Love of God in Everyone

Robert:
Last night I woke up with the thought that I don’t deserve to live in a castle any more than I deserve to live in a box; I don’t deserve relationships with any bodies any more than I deserve to live in isolation from other bodies; I don’t deserve to be known by everyone in the world any more than I deserve to be known to no one. This is because nothing in the world is worthy of God’s Son. His worth is established by God and can never change. Only God’s gift of Love is worthy of His Son. His Son deserves nothing less and there is nothing else.

A Course in Miracles assures me that I am God’s Son, along with everyone. The image of a body with a personality is just a false story. If I think anything that happens to that identity has any affect on me, I have forgotten What I am. I am identifying with a made up image that could never be the truth.

My real Identity is Love and nothing else. I share that Identity with everyone. If I see anyone, including myself as anything but Love, I am not seeing with true vision. When I shift my attention, even for a moment, to true vision, the Love I see is so joyous and so peaceful that the images of the world fade. This is the vision of the world I want to keep in my mind.

Today I call upon the Love of God in me to help me see that Love throughout the day. I am grateful that I am given the means to have this experience.

Mary:
Love is one. This is what I am to remember today. My practice is to remember that Love is one in every situation throughout the day.

Let Go of Belief in the Story

Mary:
Yesterday evening, we watched the move, “The Queen,” with Helen Mirren in the title role. Very early this morning, I woke up with that movie in my mind. Spirit was there with me as we reviewed the movie together. We saw that even though the queen had a life of wealth and privilege, her life was still a struggle. Her life was a disappointment and did not go the way she wanted it to.

Spirit gently reminded me that every life story, as long as we choose to believe in it, is a struggle. The only way out of the struggle is to forgive, or let my belief in the story go. Inside us all is the truth that we are all still joined in the one Mind of perfect Love. We have been given all of God and we cannot lose what we have been given. And because we are all one, we share the Mind of God as one. This means we all have it all; there is no lack of any kind. There is no guilt, and because we are eternal, there is no birth and no death.

I see now that the way out of every struggle is to hand it over, not to try to make it work out the way I want it to. The truth is that only Love is. Only God is. There is nothing else. The stories of separation into different identities are nowhere and nothing. We all share one Mind. As we are willing to let the awareness of Love’s eternal Presence return to our mind, we find peace. We find happiness. We find that we have All That is, because we share All That is with everyone. We share one universal Mind forever.

I am seeing now how important it is that I give up my belief in all the stories of separation and separate identities. This is the meaning of forgiveness. I don’t have to try to change the oneness of God. I can accept God’s gift of oneness instead of trying to replace it with separation. Accepting the truth is all I want and all I need to find everlasting happiness.

Robert:
To forgive the world I need to recognize that there is no value in it. I cannot look to the ego to learn this. The ego teaches only one lesson — that separation is real and guilt is justified. It is clear that I have learned the ego’s lesson well. But this lesson has not brought me peace nor happiness. In fact it has brought me the opposite.

To learn the lesson that will set me free I need to turn to the Light of Love within me and let It show me what is really there. The Light of Love will show me that no form has any value and It will teach me to see the Love that is everywhere. Like everyone, all I really want is Love. I have been mistaken about what Love is. But as I am willing to see with the Light of Love that is within me, I will learn to let go of the barriers to the awareness of Love’s Presence.

My prayer today is to let the strength of Love in me guide my seeing. This is how I will learn to recognize the valuelessness of the images of the world and see the Love that is the truth in every brother and in all things. I welcome this lesson today.

Welcoming the Peace of God

Robert:
Today we read in A Course in Miracles, “Consider but what you believe will comfort you, and bring you happiness. …One question should be asked of all of them, ‘Is this what I would have, in place of Heaven and the peace of God?’” (W-pI.185.8:4,8)

It is really helpful for me to look at the things in the world that I think will comfort me or make me happy. There are many things I used to think that I wanted or would make me happy that I no longer value. I am grateful that ACIM has helped me learn what is really valuable. Because I have let go of giving value to these things I can say I am in the happiest time of my life.

Yet there are still things in the world I think I need or want. When I don’t seem to have these, I don’t feel happy or at least my happiness and peace are limited. I experience varying degrees of impatience, frustration or disappointment if these things I want are not in my experience. I am clearly valuing these forms in place of Heaven and the peace of God.

So I may be saying I want the peace of God, but I am attempting to define the form in which this will appear. But Heaven and the peace of God are formless and limitless. To attempt to define them to fit within a form makes Heaven unknown to me, though it is all around me.

I have an opportunity today to move closer to knowing Heaven and the peace of God. Today I offer the things I think I want in this world to the Holy Spirit and ask for the strength of God in me to help me release them and open to the recognition of the Love that is in me and all around. That Love is Heaven. The strength of God in me will show me that those appealing forms have no value and I will recognize that the peace of God is all I really want.

Mary:
The truth is the peace and Love of God is What we all are. Right now the whole Sonship is in God and of God. We all are What God is because there is no separation and no division. This is the truth right now.

Today it is my opportunity to open to the truth that we are all the same universal Love and nothing else. We all rest in God and our dreams really mean nothing and do not matter. Returning to this truth is what today is for. Forgiving, or letting go of dreams, is all that time is for. Remembering that the peace of God is all I really want opens the gate. It just takes a little willingness to let the truth return to my mind. This is my practice for today.
