Finding the Peace of God

The peace of God is everything I want. The peace of God is
my one goal; the aim of all my living here, the end I seek,
my purpose and my function and my life, while I abide
where I am not at home.

I will be still, and let the earth be still along with me. And
in that stillness we will find the peace of God. It is within
my heart, which witnesses to God Himself.

I am not a body. I am free.

In this world almost all of our time is spent providing for our safety, searching for love and trying to find happiness. Yet searching for this in the world is a misguided attempt to find the peace of God. All the seeming needs in the world fade away as we realize that we already abide in the peace of God. His peace is ours. It will never go away, for God is eternal and He includes us in Himself.

Acknowledging that the peace of God is all we want is simply realizing what has always been. The conscious recognition of this leads to the choice to follow the Guide Whose job it is to teach us how to find the peace of God. We need to turn away from the false guide and focus our attention on the Guide Who knows what we really want, where it is and how to help us find it.

We will remind ourselves often that we are not a body and that the body cannot bring us the peace of God. But we are free to receive God’s peace because we are still as God created us.
