Seeing the Light of Love in Our Brother

Remember that you always choose between truth and illusion; between the real Atonement that would heal and the ego’s “atonement” that would destroy. The power of God and all His Love, without limit, will support you as you seek only your place in the plan of Atonement arising from His Love. Be an ally of God and not the ego in seeking how Atonement can come to you. His help suffices, for His Messenger understands how to restore the Kingdom to you, and to place all your investment in salvation in your relationship with Him. (A Course in Miracles T-16.VII.10)

Denial makes us unaware of It, but we still have all of God’s power and all of His Love, without limit. The way to return to awareness of all that we have, is to forgive or let go of illusions of having changed What we are — the holy Son of God. The Course tells us to see no one as a body, for the body is an image made to hide from God.

Today we will practice remembering as we look upon or think of a brother that he is not a body nor the behavior of a body. We ask Holy Spirit to help us look past that image to the Light of Love in our brother. As we accept this Light, we release the false image, forgiving our brother and ourselves. With this practice we will see the Light of Love reflected back to us all through the day. And a happy day it will be.

Joining with Holy Spirit to Shine the Ego Away

Watch your mind for the temptations of the ego, and do not be deceived by it. It offers you nothing. When you have given up this voluntary dis-spiriting, you will see how your mind can focus and rise above fatigue and heal. Yet you are not sufficiently vigilant against the demands of the ego to disengage yourself. This need not be.

The habit of engaging with God and His creations is easily made if you actively refuse to let your mind slip away. The problem is not one of concentration; it is the belief that no one, including yourself, is worth consistent effort. Side with me consistently against this deception, and do not permit this shabby belief to pull you back. The disheartened are useless to themselves and to me, but only the ego can be disheartened.

Your mind and mine can unite in shining your ego away, releasing the strength of God into everything you think and do. (A Course in Miracles T-4.IV.6-7;8:3)

We do not need to do battle with the ego, but we do need to be vigilant against accepting and believing the deceptions of the ego’s thought system. We have a well established habit of listening to the ego’s voice so that we have come to believe it’s direction will make us safe. Yet the ego is the denial of our perfect safety in the changelessness of God. But we can change our minds and awaken to the truth that we remain as God created us — perfectly safe in His Love. The key to this change of mind is vigilance against the temptation to believe that we are separate, vulnerable and alone.

Today is a day of vigilance against the ego thought system. With Holy Spirit’s help we can recognize deceptive thoughts for what they are and let them go to be replaced with the truth that we are one Self, united with our Creator and our brothers in the certainty of Love. With this practice, the defensiveness of the ego is transformed into joyous uniting with all our brothers.

Accepting God’s Gifts Today

All things are lessons God would have me learn. A lesson is a miracle which God offers to me, in place of thoughts I made that hurt me. What I learn of Him becomes the way I am set free. And so I choose to learn His lessons and forget my own.

I place the future in the Hands of God. The past is gone; the future is not yet. Now am I freed from both. For what God gives can only be for good. And I accept but what He gives as what belongs to me. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.213.1:1-4; 214.1:1-5)

Today we free ourselves by accepting God’s gifts. Each now moment we pay attention to the miracles being offered to us in place of ego thoughts that reinforce separation. Today we open our minds to the Light of truth, our one Identity as Love. Today we would remember that we are still one with all Love. Today we free ourselves from the bondage of ego beliefs. We accept our inheritance today.

There is Nothing We Cannot Do

It is through His ability to hear one Voice which is His Own that you become aware at last there is one Voice in you. And that one Voice appoints your function, and relays it to you, giving you the strength to understand it, do what it entails, and to succeed in everything you do that is related to it. God has joined His Son in this, and thus His Son becomes His messenger of unity with Him. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.154.3)

If we want to know God’s Love and joy, there is one thing to do: Let His Voice guide us in all our thoughts and in all our doing. His Voice will teach us that our will is identical with God’s Will. Our practice today is to step back frequently with willingness to receive Holy Spirit’s guidance in each moment.

As we follow His lead, we will have everything we need to do what He would have us do. Trying to go on our own is exhausting because we are denying the strength of God in us. But when we let His Voice be our Guide, we are accepting our unity with our Creator and accepting all His power with it. There is nothing we cannot do when we accept with the Will we share with God.

Listening to the Voice of Joy

The Holy Spirit is the motivation for miracle-mindedness; the decision to heal the separation by letting it go. Your will is still in you because God placed it in your mind, and although you can keep it asleep you cannot obliterate it. God Himself keeps your will alive by transmitting it from His Mind to yours as long as there is time. The miracle itself is a reflection of this union of Will between Father and Son.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of joy. He is the Call to return with which God blessed the minds of His separated Sons. This is the vocation of the mind. (A Course in Miracles T-5.II.1:4-7;2:1-3)

God is always calling us to joy through His Voice, the Holy Spirit. If we are not supremely happy, we must be listening to another voice, a voice we made up that is the denial of our oneness with God. The world we see of deprivation, depression, disease and division is the effect of choosing this other voice. This need not be. We can choose again to listen to the Voice of joy.

Today our practice is to let the Holy Spirit show us our mistaken choices and accept His help to choose His correction, which will always show us that we are complete, innocent, safe and loved beyond measure. This is what we would see today, and we are willing to accept Holy Spirit’s help.

I Will To Remember the Truth

I live in God. In Him I find my refuge and my strength. In Him is my Identity. In Him is everlasting peace. And only there will I remember Who I really am.

Let me not seek for idols. I would come, my Father, home to You today. I choose to be as You created me, and find the Son whom You created as my Self. (A Course in Miracles W-pII.261.1:4-8;2)

Today we will practice stepping back and remembering that we live in God. This means that we reside eternally in peace and God’s eternal happiness. The dream is nothing and nowhere. Wild imaginings cannot make the story of a false identity real. We all reside eternally in God’s changeless Mind. What God Wills cannot be changed. Our practice is to return to the truth frequently today and remember that God’s Will is the only Will. We are safe in God’s eternal peace and happiness. We will to remember the truth.

We Rest in God

We rest in God. All His strength, all His Love and deep abiding peace are already given us. All we need do is accept His gifts and rest in the certainty that we remain in His changeless Love eternally.

We rest in God. Rest can be found nowhere else, for we remain one with Him, as He created us. We may seem to experience fatigue, uncertainty, fear and guilt, but these are only the effects of believing in a false image of What we are. We need only give up that false image to experience the comfort of resting in God.

Today we practice letting Holy Spirit guide our thoughts. Thus will we learn to disregard the false image and remember our true Self.
