Accepting Christ’s Vision of the World

It cannot be that it is hard to do the task that Christ appointed you to do, since it is He Who does it. ²And in the doing of it will you learn the body merely seems to be the means to do it. ³For the Mind is His. ⁴And so it must be yours. ⁵His Holiness directs the body through the mind at one with Him.

How can you manifest the Christ in you except to look on holiness and see Him there? …⁹Set in his holiness, the Christ in him proclaims Himself as you.

Perception is a choice of what you want yourself to be; the world you want to live in, and the state in which you think your mind will be content and satisfied. ²It chooses where you think your safety lies, at your decision. ³It reveals yourself to you as you would have you be. …⁵Perception is a part of what it is your purpose to behold, for means and end are never separate. ⁶And thus you learn what seems to have a life apart has none.

You are the means for God; not separate, nor with a life apart from His. ²His life is manifest in you who are His Son. (A Course in Miracles, T-25.I.1:1-5;2:1,9–3:3,5–4:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Our sole purpose in this world is to see the Christ in every brother. By seeing the innocence in him, we learn of our own innocence. Christ’s vision shows us a forgiven world where thoughts of specialness and separation have been let go. It comes to us when we forgive the world for all we thought it was.

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to help us heal our beliefs in separation. As we accept His help, Christ’s vision dawns upon our mind. As our forgiveness is complete, we awaken to the Heaven of God’s Love.

Using Our Perceptions to Heal Our Mind

The rituals of the god of sickness [ego] are strange and very demanding. ²Joy is never permitted, for depression is the sign of allegiance to him. ³Depression means that you have forsworn God. ⁴Many are afraid of blasphemy, but they do not understand what it means. ⁵They do not realize that to deny God is to deny their own Identity, and in this sense the wages of sin [separation] is death. ⁶The sense is very literal; denial of life perceives its opposite, as all forms of denial replace what is with what is not. ⁷No one can really [deny their Identity], but that you can think you can and believe you have is beyond dispute.

Do not forget, however, that to deny God will inevitably result in projection, and you will believe that others and not yourself have done this to you. ²You must receive the message you give because it is the message you want. ³You may believe that you judge your brothers by the messages they give you, but you have judged them by the message you give to them. ⁴Do not attribute your denial of joy to them, or you cannot see the spark in them that would bring joy to you. ⁵It is the denial of the spark that brings depression, for whenever you see your brothers without it, you are denying God. (A Course in Miracles, T-10.V.1–2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Our Identity is shared with God, because he gave us all of Himself. When we believe we are a body and perceive our brothers as bodies, we are denying our true Identity. Our perception of our brothers always reflects what we believe we are. If anything about a brother offends us or bothers us, we need to look at what we believe about ourself, for perception is always a projection. So in every moment our perceptions of our brothers give us clues about our mistaken beliefs that need to be healed.

What bothers us about our brother is not about him. It is a pointer to our own beliefs that we need to look at with the Holy Spirit. He will help us see our belief is mistaken. It is a belief in an illusion. Upon recognition of the illusion, we automatically disregard it. We free ourselves to see the Love that was hidden by the illusion. With this recognition, our perceptions are used by the Holy Spirit to heal our minds and awaken us to our true Identity in God.

Willingness to Hear God’s Voice

I can be free of suffering today.

Father, I thank You for today, and for the freedom I am certain it will bring. ²This day is holy, for today Your Son will be redeemed. ³His suffering is done. ⁴For he will hear Your Voice directing him to find Christ’s vision through forgiveness, and be free forever from all suffering. ⁵Thanks for today, my Father. ⁶I was born into this world but to achieve this day, and what it holds in joy and freedom for Your holy Son and for the world he made, which is released along with him today.

Be glad today! ²Be glad! ³There is no room for anything but joy and thanks today. ⁴Our Father has redeemed His Son this day. ⁵Not one of us but will be saved today. ⁶Not one who will remain in fear, and none the Father will not gather to Himself, awake in Heaven in the Heart of Love. (A Course in Miracles, W-340. See also ACIM Lesson 340 Insights.)

God is always calling to us, but do we choose to listen? We have to be willing to withdraw our attention from the ego’s distracting chatter. We give our attention to His Call by stepping back from our focus on the world and going to the center of peace within. It is there to be experienced when we are willing.

The reward for answering His call with willingness is joy unlimited, peace that cannot be disturbed and the experience of Love beyond anything we can experience in the world. This listening takes practice only because we have over-taught ourselves to listen to the ego’s rants and obsession with the quest for specialness. This quest blocks out the presence of God’s Voice, though It is there to be heard.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit’ help us strengthen our willingness to hear His loving Voice guiding us in the way of Love.

Release from the Dream of Specialness

The Holy Spirit offers you release from every problem that you think you have. ²They are the same to Him because each one, regardless of the form it seems to take, is a demand that someone suffer loss and make a sacrifice that you might gain. ³And when the situation is worked out so no one loses is the problem gone, because it was an error in perception that now has been corrected. ⁴One mistake is not more difficult for Him to bring to truth than is another. ⁵For there is but one mistake; the whole idea that loss is possible, and could result in gain for anyone. ⁶If this were true, then God would be unfair; sin would be possible, attack be justified and vengeance fair.

This one mistake, in any form, has one correction. ²There is no loss; to think there is, is a mistake. ³You have no problems, though you think you have. ⁴And yet you could not think so if you saw them vanish one by one, without regard to size, complexity, or place and time, or any attribute which you perceive that makes each one seem different from the rest. ⁵Think not the limits you impose on what you see can limit God in any way.

The miracle of justice can correct all errors. ²Every problem is an error. ³It does injustice to the Son of God, and therefore is not true. ⁴The Holy Spirit does not evaluate injustices as great or small, or more or less. ⁵They have no properties to Him. ⁶They are mistakes from which the Son of God is suffering, but needlessly. ⁷And so He takes the thorns and nails away. ⁸He does not pause to judge whether the hurt be large or little. ⁹He makes but one judgment; that to hurt God’s Son must be unfair and therefore is not so. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.II.2–4. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

When we see a brother as a body, we are doing him an injustice by perceiving him as limited and separate from ourselves. We are imposing that same limitation on our self. This injustice comes from our wish for specialness. By definition specialness is defined by being different. But our true Self is universal Love without limit nor differences of any kind.

True perception comes when we accept Christ’s Vision, which forgives the mistaken belief in differences. His vision sees only Love. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us overlook the forms in the dream to see Love’s presence everywhere. As we accept His help, we free ourselves and our brothers from the wish for specialness. We see Love and disregard any appearance of lack of Love, knowing it is not true.

The Certainty of Our Completion in Love

The Christ in you is very still. ²He knows where you are going, and He leads you there in gentleness and blessing all the way. ³His Love for God replaces all the fear you thought you saw within yourself.

⁶His perfect lack of specialness He offers you, that you may save all living things from death, receiving from each one the gift of life that your forgiveness offers to your Self. ⁷The sight of Christ is all there is to see. ⁸The song of Christ is all there is to hear. ⁹The hand of Christ is all there is to hold. ¹⁰There is no journey but to walk with Him.

You who would be content with specialness, and seek salvation in a war with love, consider this: The holy Lord of Heaven has Himself come down to you, to offer you your own completion. ²What is His is yours because in your completion is His Own. ³He Who willed not to be without His Son could never will that you be brotherless. ⁴And would He give a brother unto you except he be as perfect as yourself, and just as like to Him in holiness as you must be?

There must be doubt before there can be conflict. ²And every doubt must be about yourself. ³Christ has no doubt, and from His certainty His quiet comes. ⁴He will exchange His certainty for all your doubts, if you agree that He is One with you, and that this Oneness is endless, timeless, and within your grasp because your hands are His. ⁵He is within you, yet He walks beside you and before, leading the way that He must go to find Himself complete. ⁶His quietness becomes your certainty. ⁷And where is doubt when certainty has come? (A Course in Miracles, T-24.V.6:1-3;7:6–9:7. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The vision of Christ is the vision of forgiveness. When we accept His vision, our feeling of being incomplete, not having all the Love we need, is dispelled. We see the truth of Love in our brothers. We no longer need to compete with anything or anyone for attention or value. There can be no greater value than to know the Love we are, forever united with every brother and our Creator.

We see our Self everywhere, for It is one. There is no “other.” In this oneness there can be no conflict. We rest in the certainty of our completion in the Love of God. We join in the joy of the eternal giving and receiving of Love. This is our natural state.

Walking with Our Mighty Companion

Steady our feet, our Father. ²Let our doubts be quiet and our holy minds be still, and speak to us. ³We have no words to give to You. ⁴We would but listen to Your Word, and make it ours. ⁵Lead our practicing as does a father lead a little child along a way he does not understand. ⁶Yet does he follow, sure that he is safe because his father leads the way for him.

So do we bring our practicing to You. ²And if we stumble, You will raise us up. ³If we forget the way, we count upon Your sure remembering. ⁴We wander off, but You will not forget to call us back. ⁵Quicken our footsteps now, that we may walk more certainly and quickly unto You.

³We walk together. ⁴I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. ⁵Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. (A Course in Miracles, W-rV.in.2:1–3:5;6:3-5)

Everyone has a Mighty Companion. The practice of paying attention to this Companion Who knows the way of Love will lead us to our full awakening to our True Self at Home in God. We thought we left our Companion when we thought we left Home.

Yet He came with us, unbeknownst to us, while we wished for an experience of specialness. We have learned that specialness cannot give us the Love we seek. But our constant Companion offers us the means to remember we are God’s Son, His Love, united with Him eternally.

But we have taught ourselves to disregard our Companion’s presence. It is time to unlearn this lesson, which has made us unaware of the Love we are. Today we turn to our Companion and ask for His help to walk with us and guide us on the way to Love.

The Only Purpose That Sets Us Free

⁵The body is itself a sacrifice; a giving up of power in the name of saving just a little for yourself. ⁶To see a brother in another body, separate from yours, is the expression of a wish to see a little part of him and sacrifice the rest. ⁷Look at the world, and you will see nothing attached to anything beyond itself. ⁸All seeming entities can come a little nearer, or go a little farther off, but cannot join.

The world you see is based on “sacrifice” of oneness. ²It is a picture of complete disunity and total lack of joining.

…to accept the limits of a body is to impose these limits on each brother whom you see. ⁸For you must see him as you see yourself.

The body is a loss, and can be made to sacrifice. ²And while you see your brother as a body, apart from you and separate in his cell, you are demanding sacrifice of him and you. ³What greater sacrifice could be demanded than that God’s Son perceive himself without his Father? ⁴And his Father be without His Son? ⁵Yet every sacrifice demands that They be separate and without the Other. ⁶The memory of God must be denied if any sacrifice is asked of anyone.

Those who would see the witnesses to truth instead of to illusion merely ask that they might see a purpose in the world that gives it sense and makes it meaningful. ²Without your special function [to forgive] has this world no meaning for you. ³Yet it can become a treasure house as rich and limitless as Heaven itself. ⁴No instant passes here in which your brother’s holiness cannot be seen, to add a limitless supply to every meager scrap and tiny crumb of happiness that you allot yourself. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.I.1:5–2:2;3:7–4:6;5. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

When we believe we are a body and see our brothers as limited to a body, we sacrifice the oneness of Love that is our true Identity. This is why we feel an innate hunger for Love. We substitute identification with bodies in place of awareness of God. But in every instant we can forgive or let go of our self-imposed limitations.

We can choose the inner vision of Christ to see the unity we share in the Love that we are with every brother. Love is our true Home. We no longer choose to sacrifice our Home. We choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide for seeing and learn to accept our Self as God’s one Son, united with every brother. This is why we all go Home together.
