Awakening to Joy and Peace

There is no conflict, for my will is Yours.

How foolish, Father, to believe Your Son could cause himself to suffer! ²Could he make a plan for his damnation, and be left without a certain way to his release? ³You love me, Father. ⁴You could never leave me desolate, to die within a world of pain and cruelty. ⁵How could I think that Love has left Itself? ⁶There is no will except the Will of Love. ⁷Fear is a dream, and has no will that can conflict with Yours. ⁸Conflict is sleep, and peace awakening. ⁹Death is illusion; life, eternal truth. ¹⁰There is no opposition to Your Will. ¹¹There is no conflict, for my will is Yours.

Forgiveness shows us that God’s Will is One, and that we share it. ²Let us look upon the holy sights forgiveness shows today, that we may find the peace of God. ³Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-331. See also ACIM Lesson 331 Insights.)

The god of the ego condemns us to death and hell. Because the ego denies Love, its hell is the absence of Love.

But God is Love and Love does not condemn. It maintains eternal unity with Itself which is freely extended to His Son. His Son is loved eternally. And we are all His Son. We are grateful that we remain as God created us, whole and complete. We have been given the Holy Spirit to help us release ourselves from our mistaken identification with the ego.

Only in dreams can Love seem to be absent. As we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to reinterpret our perceptions in the dream, we awaken to the Love we are. We awaken to joy and peace.

Freedom to Be Loved and Loving

Father, my freedom is in You alone.

I did not understand what made me free, nor what my freedom is, nor where to look to find it. ²Father, I have searched in vain until I heard Your Voice directing me. ³Now I would guide myself no more. ⁴For I have neither made nor understood the way to find my freedom. ⁵But I trust in You. ⁶You Who endowed me with my freedom as Your holy Son will not be lost to me. ⁷Your Voice directs me, and the way to You is opening and clear to me at last. ⁸Father, my freedom is in You alone. ⁹Father, it is my will that I return.

Today we answer for the world, which will be freed along with us. ²How glad are we to find our freedom through the certain way our Father has established. ³And how sure is all the world’s salvation, when we learn our freedom can be found in God alone. Fear, anger and guilt are emotions that come with choosing the ego as our guide. It is oblivious to the reality of Love because it denies it really exists. So it makes a world based on illusions that seem to make our vulnerability real. It is time to fire the ego as our director. It does not have our best interests in mind.

We have a Guide given us by our Creator Who knows that we share all the Love of God. By choosing this Guide, we are led on a path that dispels the darkness of ego thoughts and shines Its Light on the truth that we are Love and nothing else. It sets us free to be the Self God created one with Himself. It frees us to be at peace and share the joy of extending Love, freely received and freely given.

Learning to Identify with the Love We Are

Let me not see myself as limited.

Let me behold the Son of God today, and witness to his glory. ²Let me not try to obscure the holy light in him, and see his strength diminished and reduced to frailty; nor perceive the lacks in him with which I would attack his sovereignty.

He is Your Son, my Father. ²And today I would behold his gentleness instead of my illusions. ³He is what I am, and as I see him so I see myself. ⁴Today I would see truly, that this day I may at last identify with him. (A Course in Miracles, W-250. See also ACIM Lesson 250 Insights.)

What we believe we are is what we believe our brothers are. If we identify with the ego thought system, we will see ourselves and our brothers as subject to the ego’s limitations. These limitations keep us in fear and guilt. They generate a need for defense and competition, all in the quest for specialness.

It is time to lay down our mistaken identification with limitations. As His Son, all God’s Love and strength are ours. He has set no limits on what He gives. We can change our identification by being willing to offer all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for reinterpretation.

He will show us the strength and Love of our brothers. He will teach us that we share that strength and Love. With this practice we will remember the Love we are. We will know that we are invulnerable because nothing can change the Love that is our true Self.

Being a Conduit of God’s Love

Your peace is with me, Father. I am safe.

Your peace surrounds me, Father. ²Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. ³It sheds its light on everyone I meet. ⁴I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. ⁵I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. ⁶Send them to me, my Father. ⁷Let me bring Your peace with me. ⁸For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

And so we go in peace. ²To all the world we give the message that we have received. ³And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us. We bring peace to the world by forgiving our misperceptions, our judgments. We pause to step back from our worldly activities to settle into the peace within. Here is where God’s Word speaks to us, telling us of our innocence. He reminds us that we are loved without limit. He loves us unconditionally as His Son.

When we accept His gift of peace, we become a conduit of His peace and Love to every brother. In peace we see past appearances to the Love that is the truth in everyone, everywhere. And we give thanks.

Dismantling Our Barriers to Love

Let me remember what my purpose is.

If I forget my goal I can be but confused, unsure of what I am, and thus conflicted in my actions. ²No one can serve contradicting goals and serve them well. ³Nor can he function without deep distress and great depression. ⁴Let us therefore be determined to remember what we want today, that we may unify our thoughts and actions meaningfully, and achieve only what God would have us do this day.

Father, forgiveness is Your chosen means for our salvation. ²Let us not forget today that we can have no will but Yours. ³And thus our purpose must be Yours as well, if we would reach the peace You will for us. (A Course in Miracles, W-257. See also ACIM Lesson 257 Insights.)

God’s Will is to be Love, eternally extending without limit. As His Son, we share that same Will. Yet when we accept the ego’s goals, we deny our true Will. While we dream the ego’s dream, our only meaningful purpose is to forgive the ego’s barriers to Love. As we forgive our wish for specialness and separation, we open the way for God’s Will to be expressed through us. We let Love flow.

Thus in this world, our purpose is forgiveness, which returns us to unity with God’s Will to be Love. We accept the Holy Spirit’s help to dismantle the walls ego has built and be the Love that is our Nature.

Claiming Our Identity as Love

I feel the Love of God within me now.

²The Love of God is what created me. ³The Love of God is everything I am. ⁴The Love of God proclaimed me as His Son. ⁵The Love of God within me sets me free.”

I choose the joy of God instead of pain.

²Pain is my own idea. ³It is not a Thought of God, but one I thought apart from Him and from His Will. ⁴His Will is joy, and only joy for His beloved Son. ⁵And that I choose, instead of what I made.

⁶I am not a body. ⁷I am free.
⁸For I am still as God created me. (A Course in Miracles, W-209.1:1-5;210.1. See also ACIM Lesson 209 Insights.)

To the ego, judgment is necessary for survival. Judgment affirms that separation is real. Without it, the ego would simply cease to seem to exist. The ego’s judgments are all based on illusions and misperceptions. Perceptions begin with the idea that something external exists to be observed. This further affirms the “reality” of separation.

The Love that is our true Identity sees nothing external. It knows Its oneness with all that is real. In this certainty is perfect peace. There is nothing that exists to disturb its peace. Today we are reminded to claim our true Identity by accepting that we are Love and nothing else.

Accepting Our Safety in God’s Love

God speaks to us. ²Shall we not speak to Him? ³He is not distant. ⁴He makes no attempt to hide from us. ⁵We try to hide from Him, and suffer from deception. ⁶He remains entirely accessible.

God loves His Son. ²Request Him now to give the means by which this world will disappear, and vision first will come, with knowledge but an instant later. ³For in grace you see a light that covers all the world in love, and watch fear disappear from every face as hearts rise up and claim the light as theirs. ⁴What now remains that Heaven be delayed an instant longer? ⁵What is still undone when your forgiveness rests on everything?

³We acknowledge our mistakes, but He to Whom all error is unknown is yet the One Who answers our mistakes by giving us the means to lay them down, and rise to Him in gratitude and love. (A Course in Miracles, W-168.1:1-6;4;5:3. See also ACIM Lesson 168 Insights.)

The ego tells us that we are unloved and unlovable. It is a denial of the immutable truth that God loves us, His Son. This Love is eternal and unlimited. He has given us the means to dismiss the ego’s lies. His Voice is ever present, offering us Christ’s vision to see past the ego’s subterfuge and recognize we live in the eternity of Love.

Today we remind ourselves frequently to pause and welcome the lessons of His Voice. He teaches us that we are loved and wholly lovable. We are safe in Heaven now.
