Release from Belief in Death

⁴Think not that you can set a goal unlike God’s purpose for you, and establish it as changeless and eternal. ⁵You can give yourself a purpose that you do not have. ⁶But you can not remove the power to change your mind, and see another purpose there.

Change is the greatest gift God gave to all that you would make eternal, to ensure that only Heaven would not pass away. ²You were not born to die. ³You cannot change, because your function has been fixed by God. ⁴All other goals are set in time and change that time might be preserved, excepting one. ⁵Forgiveness does not aim at keeping time, but at its ending, when it has no use. ⁶Its purpose ended, it is gone. ⁷And where it once held seeming sway is now restored the function God established for His Son in full awareness. ⁸Time can set no end to its fulfillment nor its changelessness. ⁹There is no death because the living share the function their Creator gave to them. ¹⁰Life’s function cannot be to die. ¹¹It must be life’s extension, that it be as one forever and forever, without end.

How lovely is the world whose purpose is forgiveness of God’s Son! ²How free from fear, how filled with blessing and with happiness! ³And what a joyous thing it is to dwell a little while in such a happy place! ⁴Nor can it be forgot, in such a world, it is a little while till timelessness comes quietly to take the place of time. Forgiveness is the way to release the ego belief that death is real. God’s Love is eternal and changeless. Love is Life. When Love is denied, the illusion of death replaces the Reality of eternal Life.

The entire dream of bodies in a world of separate images is the effect of the wish for special Love. Love is one and must be given equally to all to be Itself. Only a dream of specialness could hide the eternal Life we live in God. Because this dream denies Life, it must seem to end in death, though death could never occur in truth.

Today we choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to forgive the mistaken wish for specialness. Without that wish, we are free to live the life of Love in oneness with our Creator.

Becoming an Instrument of Healing

Healing, forgiveness, and the glad exchange of all the world of sorrow for a world where sadness cannot enter, are the means by which the Holy Spirit urges you to follow Him. ²His gentle lessons teach how easily salvation can be yours; how little practice you need undertake to let His laws replace the ones you made to hold yourself a prisoner to death. ³His life becomes your own, as you extend the little help He asks in freeing you from everything that ever caused you pain.

And as you let yourself be healed, you see all those around you, or who cross your mind, or whom you touch or those who seem to have no contact with you, healed along with you. ²Perhaps you will not recognize them all, nor realize how great your offering to all the world, when you let healing come to you. ³But you are never healed alone. ⁴And legions upon legions will receive the gift that you receive when you are healed.

Do we want to perceive a peaceful world, a happy world, a loving world? Then we need to heal our beliefs about what we are. When we accept the Self God created one with Him, we accept the attributes of His Love — peace, joy and Love. Our perceptions always reflect what we believe we are.

If we experience anything less than perfect peace, joy and limitless Love, we are believing in a false image of what we are. It is time to call upon the Holy Spirit for help to heal the thought in our mind that interferes with our awareness of Love’s presence. That is His function. Our role in the healing of the world, which is the healing of our perceptions, is to be willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s help. He will do the rest.

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to replace our misperceptions with His true perception. We will see a forgiven world through the His gift of Christ’s vision. This is how we become instruments of healing.

Accepting the Happy Dream of Forgiveness

[Christ’s vision] is the Holy Spirit’s single gift; the treasure house to which you can appeal with perfect certainty for all the things that can contribute to your happiness. ²All are laid here already. ³All can be received but for the asking. ⁴Here the door is never locked, and no one is denied his least request or his most urgent need. ⁵There is no sickness not already healed, no lack unsatisfied, no need unmet within this golden treasury of Christ.

⁴No one will be turned away from this new home, where his salvation waits. ⁵No one is stranger to him. ⁶No one asks for anything of him except the gift of his acceptance of his welcoming.

Behold the store of miracles set out for you to give. ²Are you not worth the gift, when God appointed it be given you? ³Judge not God’s Son, but follow in the way He has established. ⁴Christ has dreamed the dream of a forgiven world. ⁵It is His gift, whereby a sweet transition can be made from death to life; from hopelessness to hope. ⁶Let us an instant dream with Him. ⁷His dream awakens us to truth. ⁸His vision gives the means for a return to our unlost and everlasting sanctity in God. Christ’s vision shows us the happy dream of forgiveness. We welcome His vision when we pause to remember the peace of God within. Peace is the condition for Christ’s vision, for His is the vision of Love. The Light of Love is so brilliant that it shines away the ego’s dark thoughts of fear and guilt.

We dedicate this day to holding our mind open to Christ’s vision. It is the means for us to accept the happiness God wills for us. And we would share it with the world.

Taking Our Fears to Holy Spirit for Healing

You must look upon your illusions and not keep them hidden, because they do not rest on their own foundation. ²In concealment they appear to do so, and thus they seem to be self-sustained. ³This is the fundamental illusion on which the others rest. ⁴For beneath them, and concealed as long as they are hidden, is the loving mind that thought it made them in anger. ⁵And the pain in this mind is so apparent, when it is uncovered, that its need of healing cannot be denied. ⁶Not all the tricks and games you offer it can heal it, for here is the real crucifixion of God’s Son.

And yet he is not crucified. ²Here is both his pain and his healing, for the Holy Spirit’s vision is merciful and His remedy is quick. ³Do not hide suffering from His sight, but bring it gladly to Him. ⁴Lay before His eternal sanity all your hurt, and let Him heal you. ⁵Do not leave any spot of pain hidden from His light, and search your mind carefully for any thoughts you may fear to uncover. ⁶For He will heal every little thought you have kept to hurt you and cleanse it of its littleness, restoring it to the magnitude of God.

Save [your brother] from his illusions that you may accept the magnitude of your Father in peace and joy. ²But exempt no one from your love, or you will be hiding a dark place in your mind where the Holy Spirit is not welcome. Beneath all our pain, physical or emotional, is our wish for specialness, supported by our belief that separation is real. This impossible dream is carefully hidden under the ego’s myriad forms that make the presence of Love invisible. Pain is impossible in Love’s oneness, where separation cannot exist.

We have so thoroughly convinced ourselves that our existence depends on separation manifested in the dream as a body, we need help to be set free. That Help is ever present in our mind, given us by our Creator.

The Holy Spirit sees how we have convinced ourselves that separation is real; but He knows it is not true. He is our best Friend Whom we can turn to in every instant for help. His Love is limitless. He does not judge, but offers only Love in response to our calls for Love. He will help us return to full awareness of the Love we are. But we must not hide any fearful thought, any wish for separation and specialness, from Him.

We believe we have harmed and been harmed. The Holy Spirit knows nothing has changed God’s one Son. He remains as he was created — Love and nothing else. When we fully accept the Love we are, keeping no fear hidden from our best Friend, we awaken in the Home of Love God holds for us.

Awakening Gently in the Holy Spirit

⁶An instant offered to the Holy Spirit is offered to God on your behalf, and in that instant you will awaken gently in Him. ⁷In the blessed instant you will let go all your past learning, and the Holy Spirit will quickly offer you the whole lesson of peace.

…the instant of peace is eternal because it is without fear. ³It will come, being the lesson God gives you, through the Teacher He has appointed to translate time into eternity. ⁴Blessed is God’s Teacher, Whose joy it is to teach God’s holy Son his holiness. ⁵His joy is not contained in time. ⁶His teaching is for you because His joy is yours. ⁷Through Him you stand before God’s altar, where He gently translates hell into Heaven. ⁸For it is only in Heaven that God would have you be.

²You will receive very specific instructions as you go along. ³To learn to separate out this single second, and to experience it as timeless, is to begin to experience yourself as not separate. ⁴Fear not that you will not be given help in this. ⁵God’s Teacher and His lesson will support your strength. ⁶It is only your weakness that will depart from you in this practice, for it is the practice of the power of God in you. (T-15.II.1:6-7;2:2-8;6:2-6)

The power of God is in all of us as one unified Son of God. His power has not left us, but we have hidden it from our awareness by engaging in the ego thought system of separation.

We have been given the Holy Spirit to translate our belief in separation and time into the eternal timelessness of God’s Love. Our part is to be willing to offer our perceptions to the Holy Spirit. If we give this without reservation, the Holy Spirit will, in that instant, translate it into the eternity of God’s Love.

If we don’t experience this transformation, it is because we have not given that instant without reservation. The ego is terrified of peace. While we are still engaged with the ego, we will believe its fear is ours. But with the practice of giving our perceptions to the Holy Spirit, we will dismantle the ego’s dark veil and welcome the Light of Love that will dispel all fear.

Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s help.

Freedom to Love as God Loves

God is my Source. I cannot see apart from Him.

Perception is not an attribute of God. ²His is the realm of knowledge. ³Yet He has created the Holy Spirit as the Mediator between perception and knowledge. ⁴Without this link with God, perception would have replaced knowledge forever in your mind. ⁵With this link with God, perception will become so changed and purified that it will lead to knowledge. ⁶That is its function as the Holy Spirit sees it. ⁷Therefore, that is its function in truth.

In God you cannot see. ²Perception has no function in God, and does not exist. ³Yet in salvation, which is the undoing of what never was, perception has a mighty purpose. ⁴Made by the Son of God for an unholy purpose, it must become the means for the restoration of his holiness to his awareness. ⁵Perception has no meaning. ⁶Yet does the Holy Spirit give it a meaning very close to God’s. ⁷Healed perception becomes the means by which the Son of God forgives his brother, and thus forgives himself.

You cannot see apart from God because you cannot be apart from God. ²Whatever you do you do in Him, because whatever you think, you think with His Mind. ³If vision is real, and it is real to the extent to which it shares the Holy Spirit’s purpose, then you cannot see apart from God. Our real thoughts are the Thoughts we think with God — extensions of Love. But the thoughts we are aware of are just image making contained within the thought system of separation. These thoughts are built upon perception of form and simply propagate thoughts that support belief in separation.

These thoughts of separation fostered by the ego form a closed loop that imprisons us in an imaginary world of separation. Built upon this false premise, there is no reasoning that will open the door of this prison. Yet we hold the key in our mind, the Holy Spirit, that will open the door and set us free to join with God’s Will.

As we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide instead of the ego, we will learn to see the presence of Love everywhere, for so It is. This healed perception awakens us from the dream of limitation to the awareness that we are Love in the Mind of Love. Today we call upon the Holy Spirit, asking for His true perception to replace our misperceptions, for we would be free to love as God loves.

Taking Control of Our Thoughts

I rule my mind, which I alone must rule.

I have a kingdom I must rule. ²At times, it does not seem I am its king at all. ³It seems to triumph over me, and tell me what to think, and what to do and feel. ⁴And yet it has been given me to serve whatever purpose I perceive in it. ⁵My mind can only serve. ⁶Today I give its service to the Holy Spirit to employ as He sees fit. ⁷I thus direct my mind, which I alone can rule. ⁸And thus I set it free to do the Will of God.

Father, my mind is open to Your Thoughts, and closed today to every thought but Yours. ²I rule my mind, and offer it to You. ³Accept my gift, for it is Yours to me. (A Course in Miracles, W-236. See also ACIM Lesson 236 Insights.)

We are each solely in charge of the thoughts we accept in our mind. Our seeming presence in this world tells us that we have accepted the ego thought system in our mind. It seems that we do not have control of our thoughts.

This is because we have signed over control to the ego. But it is not a binding contract. We can let it go in any instant by choosing to put the Holy Spirit in charge of the thoughts we accept in our mind. This choice is between thoughts of death and the one Thought that is our real Life in God.

When we take control of our thoughts by accepting the Holy Spirit’s help, we free our minds from the ego’s frightening thoughts. Love replaces fear. Happiness replaces worry and sadness. Peace replaces chaos. For we are accepting the Will we share with God. We are accepting our inheritance.

Today we put the Holy Spirit in charge of our thoughts to reclaim the Life we live in God.
