Accepting Our Innate Holiness

My mind is part of God’s. I am very holy.

Today’s idea does not describe the way you see yourself now. ²It does, however, describe what vision will show you. ³It is difficult for anyone who thinks he is in this world to believe this of himself. ⁴Yet the reason he thinks he is in this world is because he does not believe it.

You will believe that you are part of where you think you are. ²That is because you surround yourself with the environment you want. ³And you want it to protect the image of yourself that you have made. ⁴The image is part of this environment. ⁵What you see while you believe you are in it is seen through the eyes of the image. ⁶This is not vision. ⁷Images cannot see.

…the direction of your fantasies about yourself does not matter.

As often as possible during the day, pick up a specific attribute or attributes you are ascribing to yourself at the time and apply the idea for today to them, adding the idea in the form stated above to each of them. ²If nothing particular occurs to you, merely repeat “My mind is part of God’s. The key to happiness is to remember Who we are. We were created happy by the Source of happiness. We have not left our Source. So any form of unhappiness must be a false idea of what we are that denies our unity with our Source.

To return to our natural state of happiness we need to remind ourselves frequently that our mind is part of God’s. We share all His attributes, His joy, His peace, His holiness. As we look upon the world today we remind ourselves that the true mind of everyone is part of God’s. We are very holy.

True Vision Sees Only Love

God is in everything I see.

The idea for today explains why you can see all purpose in everything. ²It explains why nothing is separate, by itself or in itself. ³And it explains why nothing you see [through the body’s eyes] means anything. ⁴In fact, it explains every idea we have used thus far, and all subsequent ones as well. ⁵Today’s idea is the whole basis for vision.

You will probably find this idea very difficult to grasp at this point. ²You may find it silly, irreverent, senseless, funny and even objectionable. ³Certainly God is not in a table, for example, as you see it.

Try then, today, to begin to learn how to look on all things with love, appreciation and open-mindedness. ²You do not see them [as your true Self does] now. ³Would you know what is in them? ⁴Nothing is as it appears to you. ⁵Its holy purpose stands beyond your little range. ⁶When vision has shown you the holiness that lights up the world, you will understand today’s idea perfectly. Love sees only Itself, for only Love is real. This is why our true Self looks on everything with Love, appreciation and open-mindedness. Is this the way we are looking at the world? If not, our mistaken belief in separation is blinding us to the truth. We have practiced for eons, seeing only our projections, but they are not real.

Now is the time to practice seeing with the vision of our true Self. With our mind open to the Holy Spirit’s help, we will see beyond the ego’s projections. We will recognize every brother as our true Friend. We will see him as he is instead of the false image the ego has made of him.

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to guide our seeing, for we would remember the Love we are and live in the peace of God.

Accepting the Seeing Eyes of Christ

The Thought of God created you. ²It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from It an instant. ³It belongs to you. ⁴By It you live. ⁵It is your Source of life, holding you one with It, and everything is one with you because It left you not. ⁶The Thought of God protects you, cares for you, makes soft your resting place and smooth your way, lighting your mind with happiness and love. ⁷Eternity and everlasting life shine in your mind, because the Thought of God has left you not, and still abides with you.

Deny not Heaven. ²It is yours today, but for the asking.

Ask with desire. ²You need not be sure that you request the only thing you want. ³But when you have received, you will be sure you have the treasure you have always sought. ⁴What would you then exchange for it? ⁵What would induce you now to let it fade away from your ecstatic vision? ⁶For this sight proves that you have exchanged your blindness for the seeing eyes of Christ; your mind has come to lay aside denial, and accept the Thought of God as your inheritance. We seem to be in a world of constant change and uncertainty. But hidden behind the ego’s shifting images remains the certainty of our eternal connection with our Creator. When times seem most disrupted, we need to remember the Love and strength of God’s beingness dwells in us. It is eternal. We can count on It.

As we let ourselves rise above the battleground, we feel God’s presence reassuring us that we are safe. We are comforted by His presence. We ask for Christ’s vision to help us see beyond appearances and remember we are still Love, loved and loving, for we are extensions of His Love. We exchange our blindness for the seeing eyes of Christ.

Settling into God’s Peace Within

I place the future in the Hands of God.

Accept today’s idea, and you have passed all anxiety, all pits of hell, all blackness of depression, thoughts of sin, and devastation brought about by guilt. ²Accept today’s idea, and you have released the world from all imprisonment by loosening the heavy chains that locked the door to freedom on it. ³You are saved, and your salvation thus becomes the gift you give the world, because you have received.

In no one instant is depression felt, or pain experienced or loss perceived. ²In no one instant sorrow can be set upon a throne, and worshipped faithfully. ³In no one instant can one even die. ⁴And so each instant given unto God in passing, with the next one given Him already, is a time of your release from sadness, pain and even death itself.

Release the future. ²For the past is gone, and what is present, freed from its bequest of grief and misery, of pain and loss, becomes the instant in which time escapes the bondage of illusions where it runs its pitiless, inevitable course. ³Then is each instant which was slave to time transformed into a holy instant, when the light that was kept hidden in God’s Son is freed to bless the world. ⁴Now is he free, and all his glory shines upon a world made free with him, to share his holiness. Today we pause to sink past the distractions of the dream to the eternal place of peace within. Here our true Self, the Son of God, dwells in the Light of Love and in perfect peace. This is our natural condition.

As we let ourselves gently settle into this state of mind, worries about the future fade and thoughts about the past no longer capture our attention. We rest in God. Our awareness of His Love grows stronger. We know we are perfectly safe in the changeless presence of His Love. In this present moment the past does not intrude and we are certain the future will remain the same changeless Love.

We take refuge in this place of rest and we welcome God’s strength, remembering it is our own. With this as our foundation, we are prepared to go forth into the world as God’s messengers. We know we are safe.

Joining with Our Brothers in Love

²The miracle attests salvation from appearances by showing they can change. ³Your brother has a changelessness in him beyond appearance and deception, both. ⁴It is obscured by changing views of him that you perceive as his reality.

⁵The Christ in him is perfect. ⁶Is it this that you would look upon? ⁷Then let there be no dreams about him that you would prefer to seeing this. ⁸And you will see the Christ in him because you let Him come to you. ⁹And when He has appeared to you, you will be certain you are like Him, for He is the changeless in your brother and in you.

This will you look upon when you decide there is not one appearance you would hold in place of what your brother really is. ²Let no temptation to prefer a dream allow uncertainty to enter here. ³Be not made guilty and afraid when you are tempted by a dream of what he is. ⁴But do not give it power to replace the changeless in him in your sight of him. ⁵There is no false appearance but will fade, if you request a miracle instead. The world we perceive is always a projection of what we believe we are. If we identify with the ego, we see a world where everything is separate, limited and disconnected. It portrays our belief that we are alone, disconnected from our Source and every brother. But this perception covers the Reality that we remain as God created us.

We can see this Reality with the help of the Holy Spirit in our minds. We dedicate today to attending to the Holy Spirit’s loving Voice. He will show us the unified Love that our projections have hidden from us. We will see that we share the same interests with our brothers — to be Love and give Love without conditions. With the Holy Spirit as our Guide, we will find the peace and happiness that comes with joining with our brothers in Love.

Accepting the Holy Spirit’s Healing Judgments

³You cannot judge. ⁴You merely can believe the ego’s judgments, all of which are false. ⁵It guides your senses carefully, to prove how weak you are; how helpless and afraid, how apprehensive of just punishment, how black with sin, how wretched in your guilt.

⁶Let [the Holy Spirit] be Judge …of everything that seems to happen to you in this world. ⁷His lessons will enable you to bridge the gap between illusions and the truth.

He will remove all faith that you have placed in pain, disaster, suffering and loss. ²He gives you vision which can look beyond these grim appearances, and can behold the gentle face of Christ in all of them. ³You will no longer doubt that only good can come to you who are beloved of God, for He will judge all happenings, and teach the single lesson that they all contain.

He will select the elements in them which represent the truth, and disregard those aspects which reflect but idle dreams. ²And He will reinterpret all you see, and all occurrences, each circumstance, and every happening that seems to touch on you in any way from His one frame of reference, wholly unified and sure. ³And you will see the love beyond the hate, the constancy in change, the pure in sin, and only Heaven’s blessing on the world. The dream of separation shows us a world of differences. To function in this world we must learn to judge the differences. We use judgment to learn what forms are beneficial and what forms are not. If we accept the ego’s judgments, it will always reinforce our sense of guilt and fear. To awaken from this hellish dream, we need to let go of our attempts to judge anything on our own.

If we let the Holy Spirit judge all things on our behalf, we will learn a different way of seeing. Instead of perceiving justifications for guilt and fear, we will learn to see evidence of the presence of Love everywhere. We will learn that only Love is real. We will learn that we are eternally safe in the changeless Love of God.

Today we choose to learn from the Judge Whose only purpose is to teach the truth that we are Love, created by Love and eternally safe. His lessons will guide us on a happy journey of return to our true Identity as Love and nothing else.

Exemplifying God’s Love and Joy

I am God’s Son, complete and healed and whole, shining in the reflection of His Love. ²In me is His creation sanctified and guaranteed eternal life. ³In me is love perfected, fear impossible, and joy established without opposite. ⁴I am the holy home of God Himself. ⁵I am the Heaven where His Love resides. ⁶I am His holy Sinlessness Itself, for in my purity abides His Own.

Ours are the eyes through which Christ’s vision sees a world redeemed from every thought of sin. ²Ours are the ears that hear the Voice for God proclaim the world as sinless. ³Ours the minds that join together as we bless the world. ⁴And from the oneness that we have attained we call to all our brothers, asking them to share our peace and consummate our joy.

We are the holy messengers of God who speak for Him, and carrying His Word to everyone whom He has sent to us, we learn that it is written on our hearts. ²And thus our minds are changed about the aim for which we came, and which we seek to serve. ³We bring glad tidings to the Son of God, who thought he suffered. ⁴Now is he redeemed. ⁵And as he sees the gate of Heaven stand open before him, he will enter in and disappear into the Heart of God. The Course leads us to recognize and accept our true Identity. It helps us realize that what we believe is our identity is false. It could never be true. Our true Identity shares His eternal joy and peace that cannot be disturbed.

While we believe in a false identity, we are called on a mission to be messengers of truth. We are called to let Love guide us in all our thoughts and actions. When we do this, we become messengers bringing the words His Voice has given us to the world.

Today we answer His Call with willingness to follow the Holy Spirit’s Voice. And we will exemplify God’s Love and joy.
