Forgiveness Is the Bridge to Truth

It is but lies that would condemn. In truth is innocence the only thing there is. Forgiveness stands between illusions and the truth; between the world you see and that which lies beyond; between the hell of guilt and Heaven’s gate.

Across this bridge, as powerful as love which laid its blessing on it, are all dreams of evil and of hatred and attack brought silently to truth. They are not kept to swell and bluster, and to terrify the foolish dreamer who believes in them. He has been gently wakened from his dream by understanding what he thought he saw was never there. The foundation for true forgiveness is the recognition that nothing but Love ever really happens. The ego depends on bodies and forms in the dream to make it appear that harm can really happen and thus judgment and guilt are justified.

When we are willing to open to the Holy Spirit’s vision, He will help us see through the appearances of the world to the changeless Love that always lies beyond. As we accept this vision, it becomes very clear that nothing ever really happens but Love. Forgiveness is natural because it is seen that there is nothing to forgive.

The practice of asking for Holy Spirit’s help with willingness to receive it is how we cross the bridge to the peace and joy of Heaven. Forgiveness is the bridge to truth.

Accepting Our Inner Light

Why wait for Heaven? Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. The light is in them now. Enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all. Light is not of the world, yet you who bear the light in you are alien here as well. The light came with you from your native home, and stayed with you because it is your own. It is the only thing you bring with you from Him Who is your Source. It shines in you because it lights your home, and leads you back to where it came from and you are at home. We all have an inner Light that leads us Home as we are ready and willing. Today we pay attention to the promptings of our inner Light… As we open to It, we receive Its gifts of peace, safety and a sense of well being… We are guided to extend our inner Light and see It in every brother…

We feel great happiness as we practice this. This is true perception. We can trust our inner Light to guide us Home where we belong. And for this we give thanks.

Love Extends Only Love

We will remember Him throughout the day with thankful hearts and loving thoughts for all who meet with us today. For it is thus that we remember Him. And we will say, that we may be reminded of His Son, our holy Self, the Christ in each of us:

I am as God created me.

Let us declare this truth as often as we can. This is the Word of God that sets you free. This is the key that opens up the gate of Heaven, and that lets you enter in the peace of God and His eternity. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 110, W-pI.110.10. See also ACIM Lesson 110 Insights.)

“I am as God created me” means Love’s extension cannot be anything different than Love. It means that everyone in the whole Sonship cannot be anything different from Love. Love knows only Love and is changeless forever. It means that everyone we know or even think of is changeless Love forever.

It is helpful to practice remembering this today as we go about our daily activities. Our gratitude and joy expands as we allow ourselves to remember this truth today.

The Joy of Sharing Eternal Love

Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledgment as you. And you are lost and do not know yourself while He is unacknowledged and unknown.

Seek Him today, and find Him. He will be your Savior from all idols you have made. For when you find Him, you will understand how worthless are your idols, and how false the images which you believed were you. Today we make a great advance to truth by letting idols go, and opening our hands and hearts and minds to God today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 110, W-pI.110.9:4-10:4. The Christ within cannot be found with eyes of judgment. Our Christ Self is Love, and Love does not condemn. This is why the path to our Christ Self is forgiveness. We must let go of images from the past, beliefs of being alone and separate, to see our Self in the present Light of Love. Love is now and always.

Today we practice letting our true Self guide our vision to show us the Love in our brothers, beyond the appearances of the world. Thus our brothers are recognized as our dearest Friend, our one Self. We begin to identify with the oneness with the universe of Love. We feel Its safety, for there is no harm within oneness. There is only the joy of the eternal sharing of Love. This is our focus for today.

Practicing the Presence

In time, with practice, you will never cease to think of Him, and hear His loving Voice guiding your footsteps into quiet ways, where you will walk in true defenselessness. For you will know that Heaven goes with you.

We will remind ourselves that He remains beside us through the day, and never leaves our weakness unsupported by His strength. We call upon His strength each time we feel the threat of our defenses undermine our certainty of purpose. We will pause a moment, as He tells us, “I am here.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 153, W-pI.153.18:1-2;19:4-6. See also ACIM Lesson 153 Insights.)

In this world it seems that we are alone and have to fend for ourselves to survive. We are learning from the Course that this is a false idea. The truth is we are eternally in God’s Presence. We have taught ourselves to believe that a lie is true. So we feel that we are alone and vulnerable when in fact, we are safely held in the Love of God.

Now it is time to let go of the lesson that attempted to turn truth upside down. We do this with the hourly and moment by moment practice of giving our attention to the Holy Spirit in our mind. We offer each disturbing thought or perception to the Holy Spirit for His loving correction. As we welcome the Light of truth, the dark shadows of false ideas fade away and we remember that we remain eternally in Love’s Presence.

We take time frequently though the day to give thanks for the previous hour when we let false ideas be undone by Love’s Presence in our minds. And we dedicate the coming hour to the practice of bringing every disturbing thought to Love’s Presence for healing. This is how we take the path that returns us to our Home in Heaven.

Returning to Eternal Spirit

This world will bind your feet and tie your hands and kill your body only if you think that it was made to crucify God’s Son. For even though it was a dream of death, you need not let it stand for this to you. Let this be changed, and nothing in the world but must be changed as well. For nothing here but is defined as what you see it for.

How lovely is the world whose purpose is forgiveness of God’s Son! How free from fear, how filled with blessing and with happiness! And what a joyous thing it is to dwell a little while in such a happy place! Nor can it be forgot, in such a world, it is a little while till timelessness comes quietly to take the place of time. The truth is we are the eternal Spirit of Love. As we are willing to return to the truth that God’s Son is one and has never changed, we find freedom. Guilt dissolves and fear disappears. False beliefs in separation are replaced as we become aware that only Love is here. We find true and lasting happiness as we let timelessness quietly take the place of time. O what a blessing it is to let go of our belief in separation, which never really happened. As the wish to be separate fades, we return to the joy of eternal Spirit.

Let Me Be Still and Hear the Truth Today

The memory of God is shimmering across the wide horizons of our minds.

…we need only call to God, and all temptations disappear. Instead of words, we need but feel His Love. Instead of prayers, we need but call His Name. Instead of judging, we need but be still and let all things be healed. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Part II Introduction, W-pII.Int.9:5;10:2-5. See also ACIM Lesson 221 Insights.)

Let me be still and hear the truth today… In stillness I see only Love… In stillness I see only innocence and harmlessness, for there is no harm in Love… I am at peace because I feel the peace of God’s Love… Today I welcome the stillness of God’s peace within.
