Letting Love’s Light Fill Our Mind

Creation’s gentleness is all I see.

I have indeed misunderstood the world, because I laid my sins [thoughts of separation] on it and saw them looking back at me. ²How fierce they seemed! ³And how deceived was I to think that what I feared was in the world, instead of in my mind alone. ⁴Today I see the world in the celestial gentleness with which creation shines. ⁵There is no fear in it. ⁶Let no appearance of my sins obscure the light of Heaven shining on the world. ⁷What is reflected there is in God’s Mind. ⁸The images I see reflect my thoughts. ⁹Yet is my mind at one with God’s. ¹⁰And so I can perceive creation’s gentleness.

In quiet would I look upon the world, which but reflects Your Thoughts, and mine as well. ²Let me remember that they are the same, and I will see creation’s gentleness. (A Course in Miracles, W-265. See also ACIM Lesson 265 Insights.)

Specialness is the core wish behind all the myriad forms in the world. This wish spawns the appearance of differences, which could only occur in a dream of separate forms. The seeming solidity of an outside world of form makes its “reality” very convincing. It makes us feel unable to control our experience. Our fear seems justified. We believe we are a victim of this outside world, but it represents what we wish to be real.

But the Course is teaching us that the source of this apparent outside world is our thoughts, which can be changed. No one can change them for us, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can learn to see past the projected appearances of the world to the eternal presence of Love.

Our true Self knows only the innocence and unity of Love. We have not left this Self. The Mind of our true Self is united with the Mind of God. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can lay down the mistaken beliefs that have hidden our true Self from our awareness.

Today we call on the vision of our true Self to show us the unity of Love that joins us with every brother.
