Letting Our True Self Be Our Guide

If you are as God created you, then there has been no separation of your mind from His, no split between your mind and other minds, and only unity within your own.

You are as God created you. Today honor your Self. Let graven images you made to be the Son of God instead of what he is be worshipped not today. Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledgment as you. And you are lost and do not know yourself while He is unacknowledged and unknown.

Seek Him today, and find Him. He will be your Savior from all idols you have made. For when you find Him, you will under­stand how worthless are your idols, and how false the images which you believed were you. Today we make a great advance to truth by letting idols go, and opening our hands and hearts and minds to God today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 110, W-pI.110.4:1;9-10. When we believe we are a separate identity in a body, we are believing in a false image, an idol made to replace our true Self, the Son of God. This belief blocks our awareness of the loving Self that remains eternally one with God.

Again and again the Course emphasizes that we were created as God’s Son and this will never change. Our beliefs do not change Reality, but they can block our awareness of It. This is why forgiveness of our mistaken beliefs is the path to awakening to Reality.

Today let us pause frequently to ask, “How would Love perceive this… [situation, relationship, thought]?” With this question we are seeking to let our true Self be our Guide. With this as our focus, Christ’s vision will see past the false images of the world and show us our unity with the Love that is everywhere around us and in us.
