Letting Go of Specialness

You are alike to God as God is to Himself. He is not special, for He would not keep one part of what He is unto Himself, not given to His Son but kept for Him alone. And it is this you fear, for if He is not special, then He willed His Son to be like Him, and your brother is like you. Not special, but possessed of everything, including you. Give him but what he has, remembering God gave Himself to you and your brother in equal love, that both might share the universe with Him Who chose that love could never be divided, and kept separate from what it is and must forever be.” (A Course in Miracles, T-24.II.10:3-7). It is helpful to remember that every brother is God’s pure Love… It is helpful to remember that our special little kingdoms are nothing but illusions of specialness… We let our minds be healed as we open to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing every brother — that he is still God’s pure Love as he was created, and not the vulnerable and different image he as made of himself…

As we are willing to see every brother as he truly is — being all of God’s Love — we are also brought to the healing awareness that we are all of God’s Love… That is why the Course tells us that every brother is our savior. As we see past specialness to the Christ in every brother, we are helped to see the Christ in ourselves and see that we are one.

With Holy Spirit’s help, we are able to see that our separate tiny kingdoms of uniqueness are nothing and nowhere. We are able to see that we “are alike to God as God is to Himself.” We are able to see that Love could never be divided, but all inclusive, possessed of all Love.
