Moving Past Judgment to Happiness

What is the ego? Nothingness, but in a form that seems like something. In a world of form the ego cannot be denied for it alone seems real. Yet could God’s Son as He created him abide in form or in a world of form? Who asks you to define the ego and explain how it arose can be but he who thinks it real, and seeks by definition to ensure that its illusive nature is concealed behind the words that seem to make it so.

The miracle forgives; the ego damns. Neither need be defined except by this. (A Course in Miracles, C-2.2:1-5;10:1-2)

In the world of form, the ego seems very real. We experience it in our sadness and in our anger, in our fear and in our guilt, in our vulnerability and in our loneliness. Yet this is just a story, made up of nothingness. It has less substance than a cloud that cannot support a feather.

The ego is held in place by judgment, for it is judgment that maintains a sense of separation. That is why forgiveness is the key to happiness. Forgiveness undoes the ego’s foundation. And without a foundation, the ego disappears into the nothingness from which it came.

Today our focus is to join with Holy Spirit and accept His help to let judgment go. With His help, we will see past judgment and experience the miracle of forgiveness. With each judgment released, we take a giant stride toward Heaven, our true Home. Moment by moment, we open our minds to Holy Spirit’s vision and we make way for happiness.
