Opening to the Holy Spirit’s Direction

God’s plan for salvation works simply because, by following His direction, you seek for salvation where it is. But if you are to succeed, as God promises you will, you must be willing to seek there only.

Ask Him very specifically:

What would You have me do?
Where would You have me go?
What would You have me say, and to whom?

Give Him full charge… and let Him tell you what needs to be done by you in His plan for your salvation. He will answer in proportion to your willingness to hear His Voice. Refuse not to hear. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 71, W-pI.71.5:1-2;9:2-8. See also ACIM Lesson 71 Insights.)

Because this world is the denial of our oneness with God, it seems that we are alone and must fend for ourselves to survive and find happiness. The Course is teaching us that there is no happiness or safety to be found in this dream of separation.

The ego thought system of separation is incapable of leading us to true safety and happiness. At best it can offer illusionary substitutes that give us moments of seeming happiness or safety. But these temporary substitutes cannot last because they are not real. The ego will always direct us to seek where we cannot find the happiness and peace we yearn for in our hearts.

Yet God has given us the answer to this call of our hearts. The Holy Spirit is always available to us. We need only ask for His help with willingness to receive His answer. God has promised that the answer will come very specifically in the form we need in the moment that will lead us back to our Home.

God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. When we ask the Holy Spirit for help with willingness, we are led lovingly and gently to true happiness and deep peace. We are accepting God’s Will as our will. We are accepting the joy and peace that is our inheritance, given us by our Creator.

Today we practice opening our minds and hearts to the Holy Spirit’s kind and gentle direction.
