Reconnecting with Our Reality

Whatever I see reflects my thoughts. It is my thoughts that tell me where I am and what I am. The fact that I see a world in which there is suffering and loss and death shows me that I am seeing only the representation of my insane thoughts, and am not allowing my real thoughts to cast their beneficent light on what I see. Yet God’s way is sure. The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.53.5:2-7)

By allowing ourselves to tune in to peace, remember peace, we reconnect with our real thoughts to see a real world. When we disconnect from Reality, we are out of peace, in chaos. We are fearful because nothing is dependable and we feel vulnerable. We can pull ourselves out of fear by tuning in to peace and reconnecting with our real Thoughts, the Thoughts of the Holy Spirit. We remember that we are in the Mind of our Source, and that our will is His Will.

Today we are determined to maintain our awareness of Who we are — the Son of God in the Mind of God.

Remembering

The Holy Spirit is ever present, ready to help us remember Who we are. As we accept His help, we experience the blessing of our one Self, joined with our Creator and all our brothers. As we remember Who we are, we look upon our brothers and see the blessing of our one Self reflected back to us.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude, overflowing and reaching out to bless without limit. As we remember Who we are, all fear disappears for we remember we are one Self and nothing is outside our Self. As we remember Who we are, we are at peace, for that is the condition of the Self we share in God. As we remember Who we are, all barriers to Love fall away and we return to our Home in God’s Love.

We sing a song of gratitude that God never changed His Mind about us, holding a place of Love for us where we could return and remember.

Love Sees No Differences

Your brother is your friend because his Father created him like you. There is no difference. You have been given to your brother that love might be extended, not cut off from him. What you keep is lost to you. God gave you and your brother Himself, and to remember this is now the only purpose that you share. And so it is the only one you have. (A Course in Miracles T-24.I.7:1-6)

Our only purpose is to remember that we, including all our brothers, have all of God’s Love. There is nothing else. The only reason we do not experience this is because we are trying to substitute specialness for God’s Love. It is our belief that it is possible to make anything that could substitute for God’s Love that we must let go or forgive. This belief underlies the entire world of images. It is why we feel vulnerable because we believe we are different. Others who are different from us could potentially harm us. This is a made up story that we believe in and so it seems real.

We need Help from a Source that does not buy into our beliefs to help us get out of the sense of lack, loneliness and loss that comes with this belief. God gave us this Help, which we call the Holy Spirit. To let go of the mistaken belief that keeps God’s Love unknown to us, we need to be vigilant and bring all our thoughts of fear and guilt, weakness and vulnerability to the Holy Spirit. If we are willing, He will show us that they are based on nothing and help us see that we already have all that is real.

We have all of God’s Love, which is all that we need and all that we are. As this reality dawns upon our minds, peace flows through us like a river, sweeping us into the eternal calm of Heaven. This is our practice today.

Let in the Light

Your Father loves you. All the world of pain is not His Will. Forgive yourself the thought He wanted this for you. Then let the Thought with which He has replaced all your mistakes enter the darkened places of your mind that thought the thoughts that never were His Will.

This part belongs to God, as does the rest. It does not think its solitary thoughts, and make them real by hiding them from Him. Let in the light, and you will look upon no obstacle to what He wills for you. Open your secrets to His kindly light, and see how bright this light still shines in you.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.99.7:3-8:4)

This world of separate bodies is not God’s Will. In truth we all live in the one Mind of Love. In truth there is no past and future, where separate things are in a constant state of change. In truth there are no differences, no forms that are born as separate entities and then die. All these are just mistaken ideas.

Our practice today is return to the Light of truth. Today we bring all these false ideas to the Holy Spirit to be undone. Today we let the Holy Spirit shine His Light on all our fearful thoughts. We let the Holy Spirit return our minds to the truth that we are still as God created us. We are still one in God’s Love. Nothing has really happened to change God’s one Son. Today we let in the Light of truth and rest in God’s peace.

A Prayer of Willingness

Holy Spirit, today we would step back frequently and give time to receiving Your peace, Love and understanding. We recognize that we do not know what anything is for on our own. We recognize that we do not perceive our own best interests. We have forgotten What we are and Where we are. Today we would open our minds to receive Your inspiration and peace of mind. We would let in the truth. That is our highest priority for today. And as we receive, we gratefully share with the whole Sonship. Amen.

Seeing Beyond Appearances to the Light

It is God’s strength in you that is the light in which you see, as it is His Mind with which you think. His strength denies your weakness. It is your weakness that sees through the body’s eyes, peering about in darkness to behold the likeness of itself; the small, the weak, the sickly and the dying, those in need, the helpless and afraid, the sad, the poor, the starving and the joyless. These are seen through eyes that cannot see and cannot bless.

Strength overlooks these things by seeing past appearances. It keeps its steady gaze upon the light that lies beyond them. It unites with light, of which it is a part. It sees itself. It brings the light in which your Self appears. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.92.3,4:1-5)

Today we will practice accepting God’s strength in us. God’s strength comes with our willingness to receive it. We receive God’s strength when our mind is quiet and open to receive inspiration. Willingness to receive God’s peace is willingness to accept the Self that God created.

Belief that we are a body is a barrier that hides the Light of God from our awareness. This belief is the denial of the Light that is ever present. This is why the most repeated lesson in the Workbook is, “I am not a body. I am free. I am still as God created me.” Acceptance of this idea is the release from separation. In order to see beyond appearances we need to withdraw our identification with the body and redirect it to the Self that God created.

To help with this, we can affirm in our minds as we look on anyone that they are not the body our eyes show us. They are one Self with which we unite in the Light that is the strength of God. We can do this only by accepting the help of the Holy Spirit in our minds, Who does not share our mistaken belief in the body. Today we practice letting Holy Spirit guide our vision to see past appearances to the Light.

Accepting the Oneness of Love

You are alike to God as God is to Himself. He is not special, for He would not keep one part of what He is unto Himself, not given to His Son but kept for Him alone. And it is this you fear, for if He is not special, then He willed His Son to be like Him, and your brother is like you. Not special, but possessed of everything, including you. Give him but what he has, remembering God gave Himself to you and your brother in equal love, that both might share the universe with Him Who chose that love could never be divided, and kept separate from what it is and must forever be. (A Course in Miracles T-24.II.10:3-7)

Returning to God is returning to oneness. We are like the prodigal son who is now willing to return to his Father. This return to our true Identity is our journey without distance now. We are learning from the Holy Spirit to accept a change of mind. We are learning to let go or forgive our images of separation. We are now becoming willing to be led back to the oneness of our Father. Love, our Source, sees only Love. As we are willing to be taught the truth, we see only Love. Being willing to see past differences to the changeless Love that is really there is our practice for today.
