Being an Ally of God

The power of God and all His Love, without limit, will support you as you seek only your place in the plan of Atonement arising from His Love. Be an ally of God and not the ego in seeking how Atonement can come to you. His help suffices, for His Messenger understands how to restore the Kingdom to you, and to place all your investment in salvation in your relationship with Him. (A Course in Miracles T-16.VII.10:2-4)

We find God’s Messenger within as we are willing to quiet our minds and join with our inner Voice for truth… In quietness our inner Teacher can be heard… We allow time for quiet inner listening…

Everything we need to awaken from the dream of separation is given as we place our faith in the Light of truth within. Here we receive God’s peace. Here we receive our part in the plan of Atonement. Here we are taught how to see as our true Self sees and recognize our oneness in God.

My Prayer of Accepting Love’s Gentleness and Patience

Love, I surrender to Your gentle and patient care… I let go of my perceptions of a past… I let go of my perceptions of a future… I accept only Your eternal loving Presence…

I have no need to plan for my safety. My needs are provided for continuously in Your gentle and patient care.

I let go of all I thought the world was. I let go of all I thought my brothers were. I give back to You all I thought was mine alone.

I accept Love’s gentleness and patience by giving Love’s gentleness and patience to the whole Sonship.

Return to Perfect Joy

The Course assures us that God is perfect happiness. If we are not supremely happy, something has gone wrong — we believe we are disconnected from God’s joy. We cannot truly separate from joy, but we can believe we are separate. The consequence of that belief is the loss of joy.

Our prayer today: Father, we have been mistaken about what we think we are and feel that we are wandering in the wilderness, uncertain and alone. We would return Home to you. We open our minds and hearts to Your Voice with willingness to be taught to see with the vision that shows us we remain at one with You. We remain in Your Love, changeless and unchangeable. We share Your joy and the eternal extension of that Love. Amen.

Letting Go of the False Identity

You perceive the world and everything in it as meaningful in terms of ego goals. These goals have nothing to do with your own best interests, because the ego is not you. This false identification makes you incapable of understanding what anything is for. As a result, you are bound to misuse it. When you believe this, you will try to withdraw the goals you have assigned to the world, instead of attempting to reinforce them.

Another way of describing the goals you now perceive is to say that they are all concerned with “personal” interests. Since you have no personal interests, your goals are really concerned with nothing. In cherishing them, therefore, you have no goals at all. And thus you do not know what anything is for.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.25.2-3)

Letting this passage from the Course sink in deeply helps us remember to step back from the personal goals we have had in the past. It is only by opening our minds to our inner Teacher, the Holy Spirit, that we are brought into alignment with the values of our true Identity. Our true Identity knows only oneness and so there are no individual self interests because there are no individual selves.

Our true Self leads us to let go of this false identity because It knows there are no differences and sees that what is not Love is really nothing. Our true Identity returns us to the happiness of remembering that we are one in God’s Love. This is our real Identity. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see with the vision of our true Self which will always show us our unity with our brothers and our Father.

Learning the Lesson of Oneness

Forget not, when you feel the need arise to be defensive about anything, you have identified yourself with an illusion. And therefore feel that you are weak because you are alone. This is the cost of all illusions. Not one but rests on the belief that you are separate. Not one that does not seem to stand, heavy and solid and immovable, between you and your brother. And not one that truth cannot pass over lightly, and so easily that you must be convinced, in spite of what you thought it was, that it is nothing. If you forgive your brother, this must happen. For it is your unwillingness to overlook what seems to stand between you and your brother that makes it look impenetrable, and defends the illusion of its immovability.” (A Course in Miracles T-22.V.6)

If we feel defensive it is because we feel weak and alone. This is the inevitable effect of believing we are separate. We believe there is something external that we must defend against. This is the fundamental error of the ego. The underlying sense of vulnerability keeps us constantly on the alert for signs of danger that must be defended against. This is not a happy state of mind.

Amazingly this “vulnerability” is entirely in our imagination because our oneness in God never changes. We have become so invested in our made up story of being separate identities that we cannot find our way out on our own. But through our inner Teacher, we have the means to lay down the story so that once again see that we remain perfectly safe in Love’s changeless oneness that we share with everyone.

The Holy Spirit is ever ready to help us let go of the interference that hides the beneficent Light of our brothers from our awareness. With His help we will learn the lesson of oneness and remember the joy of Heaven.

You Are Spirit

Today’s idea identifies you with your one Self. It accepts no split identity, nor tries to weave opposing factors into unity. It simply states the truth. Practice this truth today as often as you can, for it will bring your mind from conflict to the quiet fields of peace. No chill of fear can enter, for your mind has been absolved from madness, letting go illusions of a split identity.

Spirit am I, a holy Son of God,
free of all limits, safe and healed and whole,
free to forgive, and free to save the world. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.97.1,7:2)

As we accept that we are Spirit, we let go of the barriers that interfere with receiving Holy Spirit’s inspiration and guidance. When we accept that we are Spirit, we accept that we are one with the Holy Spirit, and communication with our true Self is natural and automatic. Because Spirit is one, It is eternally at peace, so we experience that peace by accepting that we are Spirit. All judgment, fear and guilt are simply the denial of our true Identity, the denial that we are Spirit.

This is our prayer today: “We choose to walk with You today, Holy Spirit. Hold our hands and guide us in Your way of seeing so that we may recognize what is truly valuable and what is nothing, an illusion. We would be channels of Your blessing as we see with You that only Love is there.”

Letting Love Return to Our Awareness

I gladly make the “sacrifice” of fear — Here is the only “sacrifice” You ask of Your beloved Son; You ask him to give up all suffering, all sense of loss and sadness, all anxiety and doubt, and freely let Your Love come streaming in to his awareness, healing him of pain, and giving him Your Own eternal joy. Such is the “sacrifice” You ask of me, and one I gladly make; the only “cost” of restoration of Your memory to me, for the salvation of the world.

And as we pay the debt we owe to truth,—a debt that merely is the letting go of self-deceptions and of images we worshipped falsely—truth returns to us in wholeness and in joy. We are deceived no longer. Love has now returned to our awareness. And we are at peace again, for fear has gone and only love remains. (A Course in Miracles W-pII.323)

Today we practice stepping back and watching ego thoughts with Holy Spirit as they pass by. As we watch we let go of the images we have worshipped falsely with the help of our inner Teacher. With Holy Spirit, we practice not getting caught by these images. We give the Holy Spirit a chance to restore to us the awareness of Love’s presence. We give the Holy Spirit an opening to return us to the state of peace where we belong.

Joined with the Holy Spirit, we return to our only function of receiving Love and extending Love. We are now willing to let go of fear and experience our freedom to extend and be Love in the one Mind of Love.
