Take All Suffering to Holy Spirit

You must look upon your illusions and not keep them hidden, because they do not rest on their own foundation.

Do not hide suffering from [Holy Spirit’s] sight, but bring it gladly to Him. Lay before His eternal sanity all your hurt, and let Him heal you. Do not leave any spot of pain hidden from His light, and search your mind carefully for any thoughts you may fear to uncover. For He will heal every little thought you have kept to hurt you and cleanse it of its littleness, restoring it to the magnitude of God. (A Course in Miracles T-13.III.6:1;7:3-6)

We are always looking at ego’s illusions through either the eyes of the ego or the eyes of the Holy Spirit. Our practice for today is to look at all our illusions, joined with the Holy Spirit. It is with our inner Teacher that we will learn to see the truth beyond the illusions of separation. This is our important practice for today.

Every day presents us with another set of lessons when we take every circumstance to the Holy Spirit to receive a healed perception. The Holy Spirit always takes us past our illusions to the eternal presence of Love That is always there. Our willingness to receive the truth frees us from the bondage of the ego’s illusions. Today is a wonderful opportunity to be lifted above the battleground to see that we remain in the safety of God’s Love.

Let Go and Be Happy

If you would be a happy learner, you must give everything you have learned to the Holy Spirit, to be unlearned for you.

Each day, each hour and minute, even each second, you are deciding between the crucifixion and the resurrection; between the ego and the Holy Spirit. The ego is the choice for guilt; the Holy Spirit the choice for guiltlessness. The power of decision is all that is yours. What you can decide between is fixed, because there are no alternatives except truth and illusion. (A Course in Miracles T-14.II.6:1;III.4:1-4)

Today we would be happy. We let our willingness to follow Holy Spirit’s lead be strong. We step back from our habitual thoughts frequently today, and ask the Holy Spirit to show us the truth beyond the illusions that we perceive. We let the Holy Spirit show us the ever present Love beyond the symbols of specialness that show up in our world. As we do this we learn that only Love is there, and that illusions of differences are nothing. We can let go of the way we see the world and be happy.

Do I Choose God’s World or the Ego’s World?

Heaven itself is reached with empty hands and open minds, which come with nothing to find everything and claim it as their own. We will attempt to reach this state today, with self-deception laid aside, and with an honest willingness to value but the truly valuable and the real.

Should you begin to let yourself collect some needless burdens, or believe you see some difficult decisions facing you, be quick to answer with this simple thought:

I will not value what is valueless, for what is valuable belongs to me.

(A Course in Miracles W-pI.133.13:1-2;14:2-3)

If we find ourselves tense about anything or worried about what the future may bring, these are helpful clues to let us know we have taken the reins ourselves. We have forgotten that “Heaven is reached with empty hands and open minds.” It is helpful for us today to practice noticing when we are collecting needless burdens and quickly hand them over to the Guide within That knows what is truly best in every situation.

Giving time for quiet listening to the Guide That can return us to the truth brings about a thought reversal and helps us remember that we are eternal Spirit, one with God’s World of peace and Love. In this place of quietness, the Holy Spirit brings us an awareness beyond the ego’s world to the formless Love we are eternally. The Holy Spirit brings us to a state of mind where we know we all are eternally safe and loved, no matter what appearances we may be seeing in the ego’s world of separate bodies. We let go of the valueless because we remember that we already have everything that is valuable.

Following the Guide to Our Completion

Everyone in this world has experienced a sense of being incomplete, that something is missing. This is the inevitable effect of denying the Source of our completion. This world was made by the thought of separation to offer substitutes for our completion. We will never find completion in the world because substitutes are never the real thing.

To find completion, we need to look where it can be found. To do this we need to follow the Guide Who knows where it is. This Guide does not lead us to empty substitutes. It will always lead us past all seeming barriers to the full recognition that we remain complete in God’s Love. There is nothing else. This Guide leads us on a journey of awakening from the past, which is never here.

Each time we bring a thought from the past into our present awareness, our Guide will show us that it has no substance and cannot affect us. We need only be willing to be shown the truth. Today our practice is to hold our minds open to be shown the truth in each moment so that we may return to our completion, which was never lost.

Accepting Healing in the Holy Instant

Come to the holy instant and be healed, for nothing that is there received is left behind on your returning to the world. And being blessed you will bring blessing. Life is given you to give the dying world. And suffering eyes no longer will accuse, but shine in thanks to you who blessing gave. The holy instant’s radiance will light your eyes, and give them sight to see beyond all suffering and see Christ’s face instead. Healing replaces suffering. Who looks on one cannot perceive the other, for they cannot both be there. And what you see the world will witness, and will witness to.” (A Course in Miracles T-27.V.6)

This paragraph reminds us that we must accept a change of mind, or forgive, to be healed. It reminds us to go inward for healing instead of trying to solve our problems out in the world. Only the Holy Spirit knows the real problem and the real solution. Only the Holy Spirit can show us that the face of Christ is all there is to see.

Our practice today is to step back frequently and ask for the Holy Spirit’s true perception. Peace and joy returns with the clarity the Holy Spirit brings in the holy instant.

What Is My Service to Holy Spirit Right Now?

It is helpful to remember that God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. This helps to reduce the sense of sacrifice that can come with letting go of our own plans to welcome Holy Spirit’s plan. Without exception, Holy Spirit’s plan will bring us happiness. He knows that we share God’s Will for us.

Asking the question, “What is my service to Holy Spirit right now?” is really asking, “What will bring me true happiness now?” Since our true nature is to extend Love, anything that makes way for Love’s extension will bring us happiness. It may be thinking of an “enemy” and accepting Christ vision that shows us his innocence. It may be holding the thought of Love for the store clerk at the checkout counter. It may be serving food in a fast food restaurant while letting Christ’s vision show us the customer’s innocence. The form does not matter. The content of extending Love or releasing a barrier to Love’s extension (forgiving) is what brings us true happiness. This is how we serve Holy Spirit’s plan, moment by moment.

Nothing Is Ever Worth Getting Our Knickers in a Twist

The ego believes all form is deadly serious, because if form is let go, the ego would seem to cease to exist. The ego is totally unaware of the only real content in anything — Love. So the ego thought system is always seeking to capture our attention with appealing forms. This is part of its strategy to always seek but not find.

Believing we are separate from our Source, we always have an underlying quest to return Home. The ego cannot tolerate this return to truth so it will always seek to distract and redirect us to seek where truth cannot be found. This is what the world is for to the ego.

But the Holy Spirit offers another purpose for the world. To Him its only meaningful purpose is to forgive, to let go of the wish to be separate and unique. In the Holy Spirit’s hands, every moment is a teaching opportunity that will lead us to complete forgiveness, if we are willing to accept His lesson. Every moment can bring us more and more into the Light so that we see only the face of Christ everywhere — we see only innocence. This is how we learn that we indeed remain as God created us.

Today our practice is to be attentive to the Holy Spirit’s lessons and welcome them in each moment. Holy Spirit will help us untwist our knickers.
