Appreciation of Our Brothers

Only appreciation is an appropriate response to your brother. Gratitude is due him for both his loving thoughts and his appeals for help, for both are capable of bringing love into your awareness if you perceive them truly. …Do not attempt to “help” a brother in your way, for you cannot help yourself. But hear his call for the Help of God, and you will recognize your own need for the Father.” (A Course in Miracles T-12.6:1-2,10-11)

When we perceive a brother truly, we see that he is Love. We see that we are continuous with the Father. When we see a brother through the eyes of the ego, we see differences and separation. The ego’s interpretation always seeks to separate and divide. It always looks for conflict.

Our opportunity for today is to notice which guide we have chosen for interpretation. Lack of peace always comes when we choose the ego as our guide. But when we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide, we feel only appreciation for the Love our brother is. Holy Spirit shows us the Light of Love that lies beyond the stories. We are grateful for Holy Spirit’s loving Help.

We Would Make No Decisions on Our Own

Peace abides in every mind that quietly accepts the plan God set for its Atonement, relinquishing its own. You know not of salvation, for you do not understand it. Make no decisions about what it is or where it lies, but ask the Holy Spirit everything, and leave all decisions to His gentle counsel.

…Forget Him not and He will make every decision for you, for your salvation and the peace of God in you. (A Course in Miracles T-14.12:4-6;14:7)

It is impossible to know real Love in this dream world of separation because it is the denial of the oneness of Love. That is why relying on our own ideas of where to find Love will always fail. The good news is that we always have the Holy Spirit in our minds Who does know what Love is and how to guide us back to It. This is why it is essential to have the habit of making no decisions on our own and being willing to let the Holy Spirit decide all things on our behalf. There is no other way to be truly happy.

Our practice today is to welcome the Holy Spirit’s kind and gentle guidance to lead us along the way that returns us to full awareness that we are Love and nothing else. This is all we want. This is everything He can give. With this practice it will indeed be a happy day.

Our Prayer for Today

Holy Spirit, help us to see all things as You see them. Help us recognize the meaningless for what it is. Guide all our doing that it may serve our shared awakening to the Love we are. We welcome Your Light to shine away our dark thoughts of being separate from our Source. We welcome your strength to help us let go of past judgments so that we can recognize the changeless innocence of all God’s creation. Hold our hands today that we may walk with You in gratitude.

Accepting the Christ Mind

As I practice shifting my attention from the ego’s fearful and guilty chatter to the Holy Spirit’s calm and loving Voice, my days become more peaceful. I see more and more brother’s as my friends, whom I love. With Holy Spirit’s help, I see quickly past any disturbing images of the world and remember only Love is real. With this practice, each day is happier and more fulfilling. I am grateful that the Course has introduced me to the means to let go of the defenses against Love’s presence and to accept Love’s blessing more and more.

Accepting our one true Mind is our only true purpose. That is what every day is for, no matter what our worldly goals may look like. What is today for? It is for the practice of opening up to the vision of our one true Self — the Christ Mind. Our practice is to remember this as often as we can throughout the day today and end the day with gratitude for the blessings we received.

Letting Holy Spirit Help Throughout the Day

If you have made it a habit to ask for help when and where you can, you can be confident that wisdom will be given you when you need it. Prepare for this each morning, remember God when you can throughout the day, ask the Holy Spirit’s help when it is feasible to do so, and thank Him for His guidance at night. And your confidence will be well founded indeed. (A Course in Miracles M-29.5:8-10)

This practice is the way out of hell. No matter how much we analyze and try to gather information in the world to make decisions, there is always uncertainty. This is because, as an illusion, the world is inherently uncertain. But the Holy Spirit sees all things from the perspective of changeless truth. It sees the illusions but does not believe them. It prepares an individualized curriculum for each of us that will help us let go of the illusions that keep us in fear and in guilt and lead us back to the certainty of the Self that God created.

Today we continue our journey of return to Heaven as we let Holy Spirit lead us there throughout the day.

Choosing to See Spirit

You see the flesh or recognize the spirit. …On this one choice does all your world depend, for here have you established what you are, as flesh or spirit in your own belief. If you choose flesh, you never will escape the body as your own reality, for you have chosen that you want it so. But choose the spirit, and all Heaven bends to touch your eyes and bless your holy sight, that you may see the world of flesh no more except to heal and comfort and to bless. (A Course in Miracles T-31.VI.1:1,6-8)

What we all are is the eternal Spirit of Love. This is the truth. Today it is our opportunity to look beyond the world of separate bodies and see the Love that is there to see. This cannot be seen through the body’s eyes. We see the Love that is everywhere through accepting Holy Spirit’s perception. This is all we want to see today. If we seem to see something else, we ask, “Holy Spirit, help me to see the truth beyond the image, that I may heal and be healed.” And we give thanks.

Listening to the Voice for God

Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. I need be anxious over nothing. For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. The safety that I bring is given me. Father, Your Voice protects all things through me. (A Course in Miracles W-pII.275.2)

Today we place our trust in the Voice for God. We wait on His answer knowing he will lead us in peace and Love all through the day. We trust in Him alone, as does a little child trust his father. We place our lives in His Hands today, knowing that God’s healing Voice protects all things today. We ask for nothing but the truth and receive as we have asked. And we give thanks.
