The Need for Willingness

Prepare yourself for miracles today. Today allow your Father’s ancient pledge to you and all your brothers to be kept.

Hear Him today, and listen to the Word which lifts the veil that lies upon the earth, and wakes all those who sleep and cannot see. God calls to them through you. He needs your voice to speak to them, for who could reach God’s Son except his Father, calling through your Self? Hear Him today, and offer Him your voice to speak to all the multitude who wait to hear the Word that He will speak today.”

I will be still and listen to the truth.
What does it mean to give and to receive?

Ask and expect an answer. Your request is one whose answer has been waiting long to be received by you. It will begin the ministry for which you came, and which will free the world from thinking giving is a way to lose. And so the world becomes ready to understand and to receive. The key to all healing is willingness to stop and receive. We need to be willing to let go of our perceptions. We need to be willing to forgive and let Love guide all our doing, all our thoughts. We need to ask for the Holy Spirit’s help because asking is an expression of willingness. When we open the way in our mind to receive His guidance, we will receive it, guaranteed by God. We are asking for what is already given, awaiting our willingness to receive it.

Today we practice asking for His vision, for we are willing to give as we receive.

Breaking Down Our Barriers to Love

Little children recognize that they do not understand what they perceive, and so they ask what it means. Do not make the mistake of believing that you understand what you perceive, for its meaning is lost to you. Yet the Holy Spirit has saved its meaning for you, and if you will let Him interpret it, He will restore to you what you have thrown away. Yet while you think you know its meaning, you will see no need to ask it of Him.

You do not know the meaning of anything you perceive. Not one thought you hold is wholly true. The recognition of this is your firm beginning. You are not misguided; you have accepted no guide at all. Instruction in perception is your great need, for you understand nothing. Recognize this but do not accept it, for understanding is your inheritance. Perceptions are learned, and you are not without a Teacher. Yet your willingness to learn of Him depends on your willingness to question everything you learned of yourself, for you who learned amiss should not be your own teacher. Everyone has had the experience of learning that a perception they thought was true was proven to be incorrect. All our perceptions as a separate individual are based on incomplete facts. This is because the belief in being an individual denies the fact that only the oneness of Love is real. There is nothing in the world of individuals that can teach us this fact.

But we have an inner Teacher Who speaks for our true Self Who is ready and willing to teach us what is false and what is true. But to receive these transformative lessons we must question everything we believe is true now. When we are ready to consider that our perceptions and beliefs may be incorrect, we are open to learn the truth. This questioning is essential if we want to awaken and remember that we are at Home in the peace and joy of God’s changeless Love.

Today we practice taking all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit with willingness to receive His loving correction. This is how we break down the walls we have built up against the truth. This is how we return Home to Love.

Willingness to Accept Holy Spirit’s Help

It has never really entered your mind to give up every idea you ever had that opposes knowledge. You retain thousands of little scraps of fear that prevent the Holy One from entering. Light cannot penetrate through the walls you make to block it, and it is forever unwilling to destroy what you have made. No one can see through a wall, but I can step around it. Watch your mind for the scraps of fear, or you will be unable to ask me to do so. I can help you only as our Father created us. I will love you and honor you and maintain complete respect for what you have made, but I will not uphold it unless it is true. I will never forsake you any more than God will, but I must wait as long as you choose to forsake yourself. Because I wait in love and not in impatience, you will surely ask me truly. Every image of separation that we believe is real is a scrap of fear that binds us to the ego’s world. It maintains a wall between our true Self, which is united with God and His Love, and what we believe we are. We have been believing in a false image of our self. Fortunately, beliefs can be changed. They are not set in stone, although the ego diligently tries to convince us that they are unchangeable.

To heal the mistaken beliefs that are the basis of our fears, we need help from outside the ego’s fearful world. We have been given the Holy Spirit in our mind to heal these false beliefs. But He cannot heal what we are not willing to have healed.

Today we practice being vigilant to identify our fear based thoughts. We remind ourselves, “This thought is a lie.” We express our willingness to receive the Holy Spirit’s lesson by reminding ourselves, “I am willing to let it go.” This is how we welcome the Holy Spirit’s loving gift of healing.

Returning to Our Foundation as Love

Your peace lies in its limitlessness. Limit the peace you share, and your Self must be unknown to you.

Only you can deprive yourself of anything. Do not oppose this realization, for it is truly the beginning of the dawn of light. Remember also that the denial of this simple fact takes many forms, and these you must learn to recognize and to oppose steadfastly, without exception. This is a crucial step in the reawakening. The beginning phases of this reversal are often quite painful, for as blame is withdrawn from without, there is a strong tendency to harbor [blame] within. It is difficult at first to realize that this is exactly the same thing, for there is no distinction between within and without.

If your brothers are part of you and you blame them for your deprivation, you are blaming yourself. And you cannot blame yourself without blaming them. That is why blame must be undone, not seen elsewhere. Lay it to yourself and you cannot know yourself, for only the ego blames at all. Self-blame is therefore ego identification, and as much an ego defense as blaming others. You cannot enter God’s Presence if you attack His Son. (A Course in Miracles, T-11.IV.3:1-2;4:1-5:6. The fact that separation is impossible means that every brother is one with us. There is no “other” to blame. The attempt to blame is an ego defense to escape from its perceived guilt. But guilt can only be justified in the made-up world of separation. Our attempts to blame are based upon the fearful thought that we have succeeded in separating from God’s Love. The ego uses blame to reinforce the belief that separation is real.

The practice of asking the Holy Spirit to heal our fear-based thoughts neutralizes the basis for blame. Without the presence of fear in our mind, the oneness of Love floods our mind. On the foundation of the Love we are, the thought of blame cannot occur. We see our brother as one with us and remember that together we are one with our Father. We accept the salvation inherent in our Creation as God’s one Son.

Freeing Ourselves from the Prison of Guilt

I will accept my part in God’s plan for salvation.

Today is a day of special dedication. We take a stand on but one side today. We side with truth and let illusions go.

We have a mighty purpose to fulfill, and have been given everything we need with which to reach the goal. Not one mistake stands in our way. For we have been absolved from errors. All our sins are washed away by realizing they were but mistakes.

The guiltless have no fear, for they are safe and recognize their safety. They do not appeal to magic, nor invent escapes from fancied threats without reality. [The guiltless] rest in quiet certainty that they will do what it is given them to do. They do not doubt their own ability because they know their function will be filled completely in the perfect time and place.

Here is an offer guaranteeing you your full release from pain of every kind, and joy the world does not contain. The self we think we are is a fabrication of the ego thought system of separation. Our belief in being a separate self imprisons us in a world where guilt and sin appear to be real. Our part in God’s plan for our salvation is to be willing to offer all our belief in guilt and sin to the Holy Spirit for His loving correction. On our own we do not know how to free ourselves from the bondage of guilt.

But the Holy Spirit remembers the truth of What we are while recognizing that we accept illusions in place of truth. He is able to teach us to recognize these illusions are not true. He is a Bridge between the fabricated world we believe in and the Truth that we remain God’s Love, perfectly safe and living in the Heart of peace.

Each time we practice offering our guilty and fearful thoughts to the Holy Spirit to undo on our behalf, we are accepting God’s plan for our salvation.

Being a Channel for Love’s Blessing

You are one Self, united and secure in light and joy and peace. You are God’s Son, one Self, with one Creator and one goal; to bring awareness of this oneness to all minds, that true creation may extend the allness and the unity of God. You are one Self, complete and healed and whole, with power to lift the veil of darkness from the world, and let the light in you come through to teach the world the truth about yourself.

You are one Self, in perfect harmony with all there is, and all that there will be. You are one Self, the holy Son of God, united with your brothers in that Self; united with your Father in His Will. Feel this one Self in you, and let It shine away all your illusions and your doubts. This is your Self, the Son of God Himself, sinless as Its Creator, with His strength within you and His Love forever yours. You are one Self, and it is given you to feel this Self within you, and to cast all your illusions out of the one Mind that is this Self, the holy truth in you. We have hidden our true Self beneath layers of beliefs built upon the idea that separation is real. We see a world of forms that portray separation and reinforce our beliefs. We see this world because we believe it.

But beyond this dream is the universe of Love’s oneness, undisturbed by the chaos of the dream. Our true Self is this universe — the oneness of God’s changeless, universal Love. Here is perfect peace and the joy of continuous sharing of His Love.

We pause today to let ourselves settle into the quiet center of peace, beneath the clouds of mistaken beliefs in separation. These beliefs have no strength to deny us our peace when we are willing to let them pass by. As we settle into the peace within, we know our safety and our wholeness. We feel the strength and limitlessness of Love flowing through us extending to infinity, bringing Love’s blessing with it. We are blessed as we let Love reach through us to bless the world. We are safe. We are Home, and we are confident that we are loved.

Letting the Christ in Us Take the Lead

The Christ in you is very still. He looks on what He loves, and knows it as Himself. And thus does He rejoice at what He sees, because He knows that it is one with Him and with His Father.

Rejoice you have no eyes with which to see; no ears to listen, and no hands to hold nor feet to guide. Be glad that only Christ can lend you His, while you have need of them. They are illusions, too, as much as yours. And yet because they serve a different purpose, the strength their purpose holds is given them. And what they see and hear and hold and lead is given light, that you may lead as you were led.

The Christ in you is very still. He knows where you are going, and He leads you there in gentleness and blessing all the way. His Love for God replaces all the fear you thought you saw within yourself. (A Course in Miracles, T-24.V.1:1-3;5:1-6:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Because the body is an illusion, we do not really have eyes, ears, hands nor feet. But we believe we do. The Christ in us is a symbol representing our true Self forever united in the oneness of God’s Love. When we put Christ in charge, our body is used for Christ’s singular purpose — to join with the truth of what we are, along with every brother. With this as our purpose, illusions fade away and fear goes with them. Peace takes their place, for nothing is seen that can possibly disrupt our unity with God.

We welcome Christ’s lead today by frequently asking in our mind, “What would the Christ in me do in this situation, or with this thought?” We let Him take the lead and bring our brother’s with us on our journey of awakening.
