We Are Wholly Loving and Lovable

At one with God and with the universe we go our way rejoicing, with the thought that God Himself goes everywhere with us.

Our shining footprints point the way to truth, for God is our Companion as we walk the world a little while. And those who come to follow us will recognize the way because the light we carry stays behind, yet still remains with us as we walk on.

Today we will not doubt His Love for us, nor question His protection and His care. No meaningless anxieties can come between our faith and our awareness of His Presence. We are one with Him today in recognition and remembrance. We feel Him in our hearts. Our minds contain His Thoughts; our eyes behold His loveliness in all we look upon. Today we see only the loving and the lovable.

No miracle can ever be denied to those who know that they are one with God.

God goes with us because we are one with God, our Creator. While we identify with a body and believe what its senses report to us is real, we are unaware of God’s Presence. We are unaware that we are one with Him, for the ego uses the body as a defense against our unity in Love. Yet the ego’s defenses cannot change Reality. We still walk with God, in God. Behind the ego’s stream of thoughts of fear and guilt, God’s Thoughts of Love remain unaltered in our mind.

Today we practice giving our attention to the Thought of Love that is our Source, our Reality. As we remember and accept the Love of God given us eternally without limit, we see the Love reflected back to us everywhere. The separate images of the world fade into the background and the radiant Light of Love shines through every brother, reflecting back to us the truth of What we are. This practice will lead us out of the dream of separation and remind us that we are at Home in Love — wholly loving and wholly lovable.

Being a Teacher of God

A teacher of God is anyone who chooses to be one. His qualifications consist solely in this; somehow, somewhere he has made a deliberate choice in which he did not see his interests as apart from someone else’s.

They come from all over the world. They come from all religions and from no religion. They are the ones who have answered. The Call is universal. It goes on all the time everywhere. It calls for teachers to speak for It and redeem the world. Many hear It, but few will answer. …Their function is to save time. Each one begins as a single light, but with the Call at its center it is a light that cannot be limited. And each one saves a thousand years of time as the world judges it.

There is a course for every teacher of God. The form of the course varies greatly. So do the particular teaching aids involved. But the content of the course never changes. Its central theme is always, “God’s Son is guiltless, and in his innocence is his salvation.” It can be taught by actions or thoughts; in words or soundlessly; in any language or in no language; in any place or time or manner. It does not matter who the teacher was before he heard the Call. He has become a savior by his answering. He has seen someone else as himself. He has therefore found his own salvation and the salvation of the world. In his rebirth is the world reborn. (A Course in Miracles, M-1.1:1-2;2:1-2,11-13;3)

Are we ready to be a teacher of God? Are we willing? Are we willing to let go of our judgments and see the innocence in our brothers and ourselves? It is our willingness to let go of our judgments, our insistence on bringing the past with us and overlaying it on our perception of the present, that makes us ready to be a teacher of God. This is how we answer the Call.

Whenever we see a brother as having the same interests as our own, we teach the lesson of innocence. We have set aside a judgment that would see a brother guilty. This is a holy instant in which we see the one Self that unites us with all our brothers. In that moment we are a teacher of God, learning and teaching the lesson of guiltlessness. We may fall back into old patterns of judgment, but the gift of that instant remains with us. We have taken a step forward toward freeing the world from fear and guilt.

Today let us be willing to let the Holy Spirit show us the Light of Truth in our brother and shine away the dark belief that we are separate and alone.

Walking with the Guide to Truth

The Holy Spirit needs a happy learner, in whom His mission can be happily accomplished.

To those unhappy learners who would teach themselves nothing, and delude themselves into believing that it is not nothing, the Holy Spirit says, with steadfast quietness:

The truth is true. Nothing else matters, nothing else is real, and everything beside it is not there. Let Me make the one distinction for you that you cannot make, but need to learn. Your faith in nothing is deceiving you. Offer your faith to Me, and I will place it gently in the holy place where it belongs. You will find no deception there, but only the simple truth. And you will love it because you will understand it.

If you would be a happy learner, you must give everything you have learned to the Holy Spirit, to be unlearned for you. And then begin to learn the joyous lessons that come quickly on the firm foundation that truth is true.

All this lies in the Holy Spirit’s plan to free you from the past, and open up the way to freedom for you. For truth is true. What else could ever be, or ever was? This simple lesson holds the key to the dark door that you believe is locked forever. You made this door of nothing, and behind it is nothing. An early workbook lesson teaches us that we do not know what anything means. Learning this is fundamental to free ourselves from the world of fear and guilt. Accepting that we do not know what anything means opens our minds to the Holy Spirit’s loving lessons, which help us recognize nothingness for what it is. By accepting the ego’s lessons in separation, we have deceived ourselves into accepting its lies in place of truth. This belief blinds us to the truth and we cannot find our way out without the Holy Spirit’s help.

Learning to question everything we believe and asking the Holy Spirit to shine His Light on it is the path to freedom. The Light He brings from God dissolves the illusion that nothing is something and reveals the truth that only God’s Love is true. Today we walk with Holy Spirit as our Guide in all our doing. He will guide us truly, for He remembers for us that truth is true and nothing else is true.

The Holy Instant’s Gift of Heaven

The holy instant is a miniature of Heaven, sent you from Heaven. …The holy instant is a miniature of eternity. It is a picture of timelessness, set in a frame of time. If you focus on the picture, you will realize that it was only the frame that made you think it was a picture. Without the frame, the picture is seen as what it represents. For as the whole thought system of the ego lies in its gifts, so the whole of Heaven lies in this instant, borrowed from eternity and set in time for you.

As God ascends into His rightful place and you to yours, you will experience again the meaning of relationship and know it to be true. Let us ascend in peace together to the Father, by giving Him ascendance in our minds. We will gain everything by giving Him the power and the glory, and keeping no illusions of where they are. [Power and glory] are in us, through His ascendance. What He has given is His. It shines in every part of Him, as in the whole. The whole reality of your relationship with Him lies in our relationship to one another. The holy instant shines alike on all relationships, for in it they are one. For here is only healing, already complete and perfect. For here is God, and where He is only the perfect and complete can be. (A Course in Miracles, T-17.IV.11:1,4-8;16. All conflicts in our relationships come from not seeing the truth in each other. Our true relationship is that we are one in the oneness of Love. What is one cannot conflict with itself. But if we believe we are a separate identity, housed in a body, our oneness is unknown to us. We project this belief on the world and see separate bodies different from us capable of conflicting with what we believe we are. This belief puts us in a state of constant vigilance to protect our chosen identity.

The holy instant is a moment in time in which we see past the individual identities of the world. In this moment we experience the unity of Heaven. We experience the relationship of oneness with all things; we are part of all That is as It is part of us. Through this experience our mistaken beliefs are healed in the instant of timelessness. We may return to the dream of time, but we become more aware that appearances in form are not the truth. Each holy instant reinforces our remembrance of Heaven and our attachment to the dream fades.

Let us pause today to welcome peace in our hearts and feel its blessing in timelessness. And we will see a world blessed by Love.

Welcoming Our Inheritance

Today we would remove all meaningless and self-made gifts which we have placed upon the holy altar where God’s gifts belong. His [joy and peace] are the gifts that are our own in truth. His are the gifts that we inherited before time was, and that will still be ours when time has passed into eternity. His are the gifts that are within us now, for they are timeless. And we need not wait to have them. [Peace and joy] belong to us today.

Therefore, we choose to have them now, and know, in choosing them in place of what we made, we but unite our will with what God wills, and recognize the same as being one.

I seek but what belongs to me in truth,
And joy and peace are my inheritance.

We clear a holy place within our minds before His altar, where His gifts of peace and joy are welcome, and to which we come to find what has been given us by Him.

Our sense of unhappiness, guilt and fear in this world comes from seeking for our inheritance where it cannot be found. The ego dream is the denial of our inheritance of God’s gifts of joy and peace. The best the ego can offer are illusionary substitutes which can never satisfy because they are not real.

God’s gifts are ours now. To know we have them, we need to let go of our identification and belief in the ego thought system of separation. We need to let go of all judgment on our own. When we choose to follow the ego’s lead, we choose to seek truth where it cannot be found, for the ego thought system is a lie.

Choosing to use the Holy Spirit as our Guide in all we think and do clears the way for us to welcome God’s gifts as ours. We are choosing Love instead of fear. And joy and peace are attributes of Love. As we recognize our unity in Love with all that is real, we welcome our inheritance.

Becoming Love’s Reflection in the World

In this world you can become a spotless mirror, in which the Holiness of your Creator shines forth from you to all around you. You can reflect Heaven here. Yet no reflections of the images of other gods must dim the mirror that would hold God’s reflection in it. Earth can reflect Heaven or hell; God or the ego. You need but leave the mirror clean and clear of all the images of hidden darkness you have drawn upon it. God will shine upon it of Himself. Only the clear reflection of Himself can be perceived upon it.

Could you but realize for a single instant the power of healing that the reflection of God, shining in you, can bring to all the world, you could not wait to make the mirror of your mind clean to receive the image of the holiness that heals the world.

The response of holiness to any form of error is always the same. There is no contradiction in what holiness calls forth. Its one response is healing, without regard for what is brought to it. Those who have learned to offer only healing, because of the reflection of holiness in them, are ready at last for Heaven. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.IX.5;7:1;8:1-4. We become a spotless mirror of holiness by removing our projections of belief in separation (ego). We need to forgive our judgments, which maintain separation. Judgments respond to error (misperceptions) with attack. Holiness recognizes error as a call for Love and responds with Love. Thus the holiness of Love is reflected.

When we respond to all error with the holiness of God’s Love, we become His perfect reflection in the dream of separation. With the strength of God in us, we become a powerful instrument for healing in the world. There is no real opposite to God’s Love. The Light of Love dispels the dark images of separation. Fear disappears and Love shines everywhere. Guilt is recognized as meaningless in the Reality of Love’s Oneness.

Today we practice bringing all our perceptions in the world to the Holy Spirit in our mind for His help to clear our mirror of false images. Thus will we see our brothers truly as one with us in God’s Love.

Choosing Christ’s Vision as Our Guide

What makes this world seem real except your own denial of the truth that lies beyond? What but your thoughts of misery and death obscure the perfect happiness and the eternal life your Father wills for you? And what could hide what cannot be concealed except illusion? What could keep from you what you already have except your choice to see it not, denying it is there?

The Thought of God created you.

Deny not Heaven. It is yours today, but for the asking.

Ask with desire. You need not be sure that you request the only thing you want. But when you have received, you will be sure you have the treasure you have always sought. What would you then exchange for [Heaven]? What would induce you now to let it fade away from your ecstatic vision? For this sight proves that you have exchanged your blindness for the seeing eyes of Christ; your mind has come to lay aside denial, and accept the Thought of God as your inheritance.

We count on God, and not upon ourselves, to give us certainty. And in His Name we practice as His Word directs we do. His sureness lies beyond our every doubt. His Love remains beyond our every fear. Just as a seeing eye dog guides someone who is blind in the world, the eyes of Christ guide us back to Heaven when we have blinded ourself to the Reality of God’s Thought of Love. The seeing eyes of Christ are ever-present in our mind, but we must be willing to follow Christ’s vision. This is why it is important that we realize what we see with the body’s eyes hides the gift of Heaven from our sight.

Nothing we see in the world has any value or meaning of its own. It’s only the meaning that we give it that makes it fearful. But the practice of stepping back and asking to see Heaven, to see with Christ’s vision, will return us to the awareness that we are in Heaven now.

Today we choose Christ’s vision as our guide. This will lead us out of the darkness of the denial of Heaven and return us to the Thought of God that is our Home.
