Reclaiming the Love We Are

Forgiveness is the only gift I give.

Forgiveness is the only gift I give, because it is the only gift I want. And everything I give I give myself. This is salvation’s simple formula. And I, who would be saved, would make it mine, to be the way I live within a world that needs salvation, and that will be saved as I accept Atonement for myself.

Father, how certain are Your ways; how sure their final outcome, and how faithfully is every step in my salvation set already, and accomplished by Your grace. Thanks be to You for Your eternal gifts, and thanks to You for my Identity. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 297, W-pII.297. See also ACIM Lesson 297 Insights.)

In this world the oneness of Love is denied. If we give something, we believe we no longer have it. This belief makes us reluctant to forgive because we don’t realize that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves along with the seeming “other” we forgive.

Each time we forgive with the Holy Spirit’s help, a barrier to Love’s presence is released. Thus we receive the gift of Love. It is in our Self interest to forgive because it releases the limitation we have placed on our Self in the dream of separation. Forgiveness is the means to awaken to the eternal fact that we are pure Love, united with All That is in God.
