Remembering the Love We Are

I am in need of nothing but the truth.

I sought for many things, and found despair. Now do I seek but one, for in that one is all I need, and only what I need. All that I sought before I needed not, and did not even want. My only need I did not recognize. But now I see that I need only truth. In that all needs are satisfied, all cravings end, all hopes are finally fulfilled and dreams are gone. Now have I everything that I could need. Now have I everything that I could want. And now at last I find myself at peace.

And for that peace, our Father, we give thanks. What we denied ourselves You have restored, and only that is what we really want. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 251, W-pII.251. See also ACIM Lesson 251 Insights.)

Only Love is real. Thus, like the Beatles song, “All we need is Love.” There is nothing else to seek, though the ego sends us endless quests for substitutes. But these substitutes are illusions and could never be real nor satisfy our need. Love cannot be found in a dream that denies Love. Yet our true Identity remains Love and nothing else.

Forgiveness of our attempts to find substitutes under the ego’s direction is the means to awaken from the dream. God has given us His Voice to guide us through the forgiveness process that will renew our memory of our true Identity. Love is the only Truth. Every appearance in the world, every brother, offers us a lesson in forgiveness. We need only listen for God’s Voice to teach us.

We listen, not with the body’s ears, but by stepping back from our attention on the world to let peace return to our troubled mind. The peace of God is in us. As we pause to welcome it, God’s Voice becomes clearer and the ego’s chatter fades. His Voice reminds us of the Truth: God is only Love and therefore so is everyone. Collectively we are God’s one Son.
