Remembering Our Unity in God’s Love

Let me remember that my goal is God.

All that is needful is to train our minds to overlook all little senseless aims, and to remember that our goal is God. ²His memory is hidden in our minds, obscured but by our pointless little goals which offer nothing, and do not exist. ³Shall we continue to allow God’s grace to shine in unawareness, while the toys and trinkets of the world are sought instead? ⁴God is our only goal, our only Love. ⁵We have no aim but to remember Him.

Our goal is but to follow in the way that leads to You. ²We have no goal but this. ³What could we want but to remember You? ⁴What could we seek but our Identity? (A Course in Miracles, W-258. See also ACIM Lesson 258 Insights.)

Everyone wants peace and happiness. But it cannot be found in the world of form. Every goal in the world at best offers temporary happiness. The peace we may seem to achieve never seems certain to last. We need to constantly defend against upsets that disturb our peace. What seems to bring happiness doesn’t last. All this is in keeping with the ego’s intent to seek and not find.

But the peace and happiness we seek is already ours. Only our allegiance to the ego makes us unaware of the presence of God’s Love. Beneath all of our seeking in the world is the desire to unite with God. God is the Love we seek, the safety and happiness. Nothing else will satisfy. We need to train our minds to seek where happiness and Love can be found.

Forgiveness lets us release the quest for forms that never satisfy. This release opens the veil to receive the Love of God. This is our heart’s desire. It is the desire to reunite with our Source — to be the Love that is our Self, the Son of God.
