Remembering the Love We Are

I seek my own Identity, and find It in these words: “Love, which created me, is what I am.” ²Now need I seek no more. ³Love has prevailed. ⁴So still It waited for my coming home, that I will turn away no longer from the holy face of Christ. ⁵And what I look upon attests the truth of the Identity I sought to lose, but which my Father has kept safe for me.

Father, my thanks to You for what I am; for keeping my Identity untouched and sinless, in the midst of all the thoughts of sin my foolish mind made up. ²And thanks to You for saving me from them. ³Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-229.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 229 Insights.)

The ego believes that lack of Love is possible. It sends us on endless searches for outside sources to find it where it cannot be found. This is its defense against the thing it fears the most. When we realize that we are the Love we seek, the ego will cease to seem to exist.

The Course is teaching us that we are not the ego or any of its illusions. We already are the Love we thought we lost when we bought into the ego though system. Love is everywhere and in everyone.

As we let go of our identification with the ego, we increasingly experience the joy and peace that comes with accepting that we are Love and nothing else. We recognize everyone as part of our one Self, the Son of God. In gratitude, we rest in God’s Love.
