Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Robert:
Today we read in the Text of A Course in Miracles:

Let us be still an instant, and forget all things we ever learned, all thoughts we had and every preconception that we hold of what things mean and what their purpose is. Let us remember not our own ideas of what the world is for. We do not know. Let every image held of everyone be loosened from our minds and swept away. (ACIM T-31.I.12)

It goes on to say that when we do this we free ourselves to live as we are free, “because an ancient learning passed away, and left a place for truth to be reborn.”

So the means to return Home is simply to forget all things we ever learned. This seems simple enough, yet in our experience, it seems hard to let go of all we learned. This is because we learned it because we wanted it. We wanted to be special and unique. We wanted to have a domain we could call our own. We have taught ourselves that we have achieved this goal. In this section we are also told, “No one who understands what you have learned… could ever doubt the power of your learning skill. There is no greater power in the world. …for your power to learn is strong enough to teach you that your will is not your own, your thoughts do not belong to you, and even you are someone else.” (T-31.I.3:1-2, 6)

This is very encouraging to me. It’s telling me that the very fact that I see a physical world of bodies and planets and stars is a demonstration of the magnitude of my learning skills. This is no small feat. It shows me that if I can make these fantasy images seem so real, I also have the ability to learn that I am free of all these false images. I simply need to choose another goal. The purpose of the Course is to teach me that the goal I chose is valueless and that the goal I really want is where all meaning lies. Only Love is real and therefore only Love has meaning. The only goal I really want is Love.

The way to achieve this goal is to let go of all judgment. Today is another day to practice having no opinions of my own and holding my mind open to Holy Spirit’s interpretation in every moment. This is how I will learn to look past the images presented by my past learning so that I can see that only Love is there. I will recognize the Love that is in me by Its reflection in everything I look upon.

Mary:
As I go to Spirit this morning, the words come to me: Simple, uncomplicated Love. What comes to me with this is that my practice today is to remember that behind every image lies simple, uncomplicated Love. Repeating these words like a mantra all through the day allows the veil of separation to be lifted to reveal what is really there — simple, uncomplicated Love.

It may look like I have many things to do today in the world. But right now it is very clear to me that my most important job is to allow myself to remember that only simple, uncomplicated Love is real. The rest is simply the dream of separation. This is how I move past fear to freedom with the Holy Spirit.
