The Blessing of Accepting God’s Will as Ours

The miracle is much like the body in that both are learning aids for facilitating a state in which they become unnecessary. When spirit’s original state of direct communication is reached, neither the body nor the miracle serves any purpose.

Whatever is true is eternal, and cannot change or be changed. Spirit is therefore unalterable because it is already perfect, but the mind can elect what it chooses to serve. The only limit put on its choice is that it cannot serve two masters. If it elects to do so, the mind can become the medium by which spirit creates along the line of its own creation. If it does not freely elect to do so, it retains its creative potential but places itself under tyrannous rather than Authoritative control. As a result it imprisons, because such are the dictates of tyrants. To change your mind means to place it at the disposal of true Authority.

The miracle is a sign that the mind has chosen to be led by me in Christ’s service. The abundance of Christ is the natural result of choosing to follow Him. (A Course in Miracles, T-1.V.1:1-2;5:1-6:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Because God is the Source of Authority for all His Creation, the Sonship is under the Authority of God. This is the same as saying the Will of God and the Will of the Sonship are one and the same. Our true Will is to extend the changeless, eternal Love of God equally to all without limitation of any kind. As we accept our true Will, we experience the indescribable joy of free-flowing Love.

Tyranny is cruel and oppressive rule without legal authority. If we choose the tyranny of the ego thought system of separation, limitation and lack, we are accepting a “leader” that is in violation of the Law of God: Only changeless Love is real. Yet we never lose the fact that we are Love and remain united with our Creator. We can change our mind and accept our true Will, which is one with God’s Will.

The miracle occurs when we choose to be led by the Holy Spirit. He uses the body as a learning aid to teach us that we do not want the ego’s rule. We really want to remember that we are Love and nothing else. We really want to join with the Love in all our brothers. In this joining we experience the abundance of limitless Love. We are free to extend Love without limit and experience all Its blessing.
