The Gift We Give Ourselves and the World

⁶You make what you defend against, and by your own defense against it is it real and inescapable. ⁷Lay down your arms, and only then do you perceive it false.

The choice you make today is certain. ²For you look for the last time upon this bit of carven stone you made, and call it god no longer. …⁶And you return to a new world, unburdened by its weight; beheld not in its sightless eyes, but in the vision that your choice restored to you.

Now do your eyes belong to Christ, and He looks through them. ²Now your voice belongs to God and echoes His. ³And now your heart remains at peace forever. (A Course in Miracles, W-170.2:6-7;11:1-2,6–12:3. See also ACIM Lesson 170 Insights.)

The body is an illusion, and its eyes can only see illusions. We are being taught to not give credence to what it is seen with the its eyes because they see nothing real. As we learn to forgive what we see in the world, we let go of our defenses against the eternal presence of our Father’s Love.

Christ sees through forgiving eyes. His vision shows us the universe of Love and that Love is our one Identity, shared with every brother and our Father. We rest in the certainty of Love’s changelessness. This is the gift our forgiveness gives ourselves and the world.
