We Have Help to Remember We Are Only Love

All things I think I see reflect ideas.

This is salvation’s keynote: What I see reflects a process in my mind, which starts with my idea of what I want. ²From there, the mind makes up an image of the thing the mind desires, judges valuable, and therefore seeks to find. ³These images are then projected outward, looked upon, esteemed as real and guarded as one’s own. ⁴From insane wishes comes an insane world. ⁵From judgment comes a world condemned. ⁶And from forgiving thoughts a gentle world comes forth, with mercy for the holy Son of God, to offer him a kindly home where he can rest a while before he journeys on, and help his brothers walk ahead with him, and find the way to Heaven and to God.

Our Father, Your ideas reflect the truth, and mine apart from Yours but make up dreams. ²Let me behold what only Yours reflect, for Yours and Yours alone establish truth. (A Course in Miracles, W-325. See also ACIM Lesson 325 Insights.)

In many ways throughout the Course, we are being told that the world we see is a projection. It is generated by the wish for specialness, to be different and see differences. Differences are the hallmark of the ego thought system. It is their perception that fosters fear, anger, guilt and a sense of profound loss. All this comes from a desire to stand out, to have something for ourselves alone. It is a steep price to pay.

We have been given Love without limit, given equally to all. It is everywhere, without limit, bringing with it peace that cannot be disturbed and joy beyond description. This is God’s gift to us. Because Love is one and cannot be divided, loss is impossible. There can be no cause for guilt or fear in Love’s oneness.

Love is our natural state. We pay no price to gain this except to let go of the wish for specialness. This release comes in many wonderful, little, easy steps, guided by the Holy Spirit. Under His leadership, we peel away the layers of false ideas upon which our dream of specialness has been built. As we let the layers go, the Light of Love that lies deep within shines brighter. We are grateful that we have the help we need to remember we are Love and nothing else.
