Accepting True Happiness

In A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 64 we read that our function is to be happy. Another way of saying that is that our function is to extend Love. Nothing else will make us happy.

In the world of form, Love’s reflection is forgiveness — letting go of all images of the past. When I let the past go, even for an instant, and let myself be fully in the now moment, I can experience changeless Love. I can experience the unity of Love. I can see the innocence of Love.

Today is another happy day to practice letting Holy Spirit guide all my perceptions so that I may see past the form to the only real content — Love.

If I am not happy, I have joined the ego’s mind wandering. Today my practice is to focus on accepting Holy Spirit’s healing Light, which brings happiness with It. As I am willing to receive Love’s happiness, I am able to extend It. This is my focus for today.

Clearing the Way to Happiness

The Course tells us that God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. That means His Teacher’s function is to help us learn to clear away the barriers that hide the happiness that is our inheritance. It is great to know that we all have a dedicated Teacher Whose only function is to lead us to perfect happiness.

Since judgment stands between us and happiness, the Holy Spirit’s function is to help us let go of judgment and transform our perceptions so that we can recognize where our true happiness lies. Our only job is to be willing to accept Holy Spirit’s transformation of our perceptions.

Today my practice is to walk with Holy Spirit as my Guide through the day. With His help I will see past the forms to the happy vision of changeless Love everywhere. And I give thanks.

The truth is we all are still as God created us. We all are still the pure Love and Light of God, and that never changes. My practice for today involves letting this truth be remembered. Peace and happiness come when I am willing to accept God’s Love where God’s Love is, which is everywhere. Here I find rest. Here I find peace. What a wonderful practice I have for today. And I give thanks.

Simple, Uncomplicated Love

My practice for today is to step back and let Love lead the way. Love is patient. Love is kind and gentle. Love is not hurried or anxious. Love is not defensive, abrasive or judgmental. Love is quiet and inspires true helpfulness. My practice for today is to step back and follow Love’s lead.

The ego thrives on complexity. The ego’s goal is to not find a solution to any problem. So it analyzes and dissects and divides to maximize complexity and make resolution seem impossible. When a situation seems difficult and complex, it is a sure sign that I’m choosing the ego as my interpreter.

But I have another choice. When I am willing to step back and let Love lead the way, complexity yields to simplicity. Love knows there is really only one problem and one solution. Love will always lead me toward that simplicity when I am willing to step back from the ego’s way of thinking. The ego is not what I am. Love is. The truth in me is simple, uncomplicated Love. I choose to let this Love guide me today.

Our Prayer of Willingness

This is our prayer for today: Holy Spirit, we are willing to melt into Your perfect peace… We are willing to step back and move into a place of quiet where we can receive your healing inspiration… We are willing to relax and follow Your lead… We know that we are not alone and we are willing to go into Your quiet place of peace to receive a change of mind… We thank You for Your constant presence, leading us Home where we belong.

How to Be Open to Holy Spirit’s Inspiration

One of the first lessons of the workbook tells us that we do not know what anything means. The ego is insulted by this statement. Yet accepting it is the release from the hell of separation. It is how we open our minds to another way of seeing, another interpretation of everything in the world. It is only with an open mind that we are able to receive the inspiration of our true Self which shows us the reality of Love’s oneness and the meaninglessness of every form.

Today is another day to practice remembering that I do not know what anything means, and asking the Holy Spirit to show me His meaning in everything. This is how I will walk from hell to Heaven.

As I am willing to remember that I do not know what anything means, it is easier to be more willing to step back and listen for Holy Spirit’s inspiration. This practice is what today is for, and I give thanks.

Willingness to Share Oneness

You who share His life must share it to know it, for sharing is knowing. Blessed are you who learn that to hear the Will of your Father is to know your own. For it is your will to be like Him, Whose Will it is that it be so. God’s Will is that His Son be One, and united with Him in His Oneness. That is why healing is the beginning of the recognition that your will is His. (A Course in Miracles T-11.I.11:5-9)

Judgment is the denial of oneness. Anything that disturbs our peace is a symptom that we are denying the truth of our oneness with Love, our Creator. Denial of Love, which is the denial of Reality can lead to the making of a fantasy world of images of separation. But the fantasy can never be real. This is why our only function is to forgive the world for all we thought it was. It is through forgiveness that we welcome the return of awareness of our oneness with Love.

So today is another day to practice bringing every disturbance of our peace to the Holy Spirit for His kind and gentle correction. With the help of Holy Spirit’s vision, we recognize the fantasy for what it is and freely let it go. This is forgiveness.

Gentleness and Patience

Gentleness and patience come with accepting God’s peace. Because we are one with God, peace is inherent in our Identity. Peace is an attribute of God’s oneness. Today is it my opportunity to practice remembering to accept God’s eternal gift of peace. With this gift of peace comes gentleness and patience. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for Your eternal gifts. I am willing to accept them today.

Patience is natural to those who trust. An illusion cannot be trusted. But the changelessness of Love can be trusted unequivocally.

As I am willing to let the Holy Spirit guide all my seeing, I will look past all the changing images of the world to the changeless certainty of eternal Love that is ever present. In the certainty of this oneness, gentleness is natural, for there is nothing to defend against. My dedication today is to let Holy Spirit guide all my seeing. With His help I will extend the gentleness and patience of Love.
