Embodying A Course in Miracles

A Course in Miracles is a profound spiritual teaching, designed to shift our perception from fear to love. But the journey doesn’t really begin until we embody its teachings.

Embodying the Course means moving beyond intellectual understanding and actively living its principles… especially forgiveness, love, non-judgement, and inner peace in our daily life. When we do that they become the foundation of how we think, perceive, relate to others, and respond in every moment. The Course taken deeply becomes experiential, realised through consistent inner work. While daily lessons and the text are vital, embodiment begins when we move from studying the course to practicing it in our daily lives.

When we embody A Course in Miracles in our life, we experience a shift in perception in everyday moments, and our mind shifts from fear to love.

Here’s a recent experience: I had dinner with friends, and we ordered our food. When the food arrived, the waiter brought me something I didn’t order. I felt annoyed at the waiter.

So I quietened my mind to receive guidance, and practiced forgiveness (letting go of my judgement) and responded kindly to the waiter. I reminded him what I wanted, and he went back into the kitchen and placed the my order.

“I do not perceive my own best interests.” (W-24)

My friends were sitting around not eating their dinner, waiting for mine to come, so I told them to start. They all started and shared their food with me, and I got to try dishes I never had before. When my food came I shared it with them. A grievance turned into a beautiful experience.

Another recent experience: I have a friend and neighbor who was changing his tire at the side of the road, and was hit by a passing car. Other neighbors called an ambulance, that came quickly and brought him to a local hospital. It was not clear whether he’d live or die, and I was full of fear. Then I remembered:

“I could see peace instead of this.”  (W-34)

When this thought came into my mind, I noticed a shift in perception. I saw my friend as a divine light, being well looked after. My mind felt peaceful again, and I visited him at the hospital. He survived… and all was well.

A third experience:  I had a blood test and learned that my cholesterol was on the high side. The doctor gave me a prescription for statins. I did some research and heard both good things and bad things about them. Some research said statins were very effective, and others said I could reduce my cholesterol naturally through changing my diet.

I wasn’t sure what to do, so I quietened my mind and asked for guidance. What came to me was “Try natural first”. So that’s what I did.

“I place the future in the Hands of God.”  (W-194)

So I changed my diet, and eliminated foods which they said would increase cholesterol. After three months I had another blood test and my cholesterol had dropped significantly… and I enjoyed my new diet.
