To Remember

Michele Carlson

To be your true Self is to be
the person you were meant to be.

To follow our true path,
most of us think we are not good enough
or smart enough to do what we feel.

We think this is far from our reach.

God resides in our heart,
so we can accomplish anything
for the good of mankind,
so why do we make this so hard?

It is because we do not believe and
cannot remember where we came from.

Our lessons on earth are Spirit’s way of

showing us the path, our true purpose.

Let all your senses come alive
in meditation. You will see,
hear or feel Heaven.
It is not your imagination.

To listen to your higher, true Voice
within is to acknowledge Spirit
and life in a whole new way.

The words of the Lords Prayer:
“For thine is the Kingdom, the power
and the glory, forever and ever. Amen”

The word thine means heart (your heart)
which is the Kingdom, the power and
the glory, forever and forever.

We are all empowering in the eyes
of the Lord. As above so below.
When we call we listen. Amen

Announcing a New Pathways Support Group: Support for the Chronically and Critically Ill

by Revs. Linda Wisniewski & Maria Kingsley, O.M.C.

Rev. Linda WisniewskiPathways of Light is expanding its services to the chronically and critically ill. This program is being formed by Pathways ministers who are interested, willing or are called to lend their time and talents to this group of people. POL already has started a Prayer Outreach service, and is now putting together a program to serve all who are seeking support in the area of dealing with chronic and critical illness or are working with those who are chronically or critically ill. We are soliciting ministers who would like to participate on the initial level of forming this group and setting up all the parameters for such an outreach, and or would like to volunteer to be a member of the ongoing support group. Some of you have already volunteered and we are truly grateful.

This will be our mission statement:

The mission of the Chronic and Critically Ill Support Group is to assist those with chronic dis-ease or facing a terminal diagnosis. This includes their family and friends as well. Members of the support group will provide support, guidance and resources that will enable those asking for assistance to work through their fears and difficulties, offering unconditional love and inspiration.

The support group will be guided by the principles of A Course in Miracles which teaches us to go within and access the wisdom and healing messages of our Inner Teacher which the Course refers to as Holy Spirit, the Voice for God. Other names for Holy Spirit which have the same effect are: Higher Power, Higher Self or whatever feels comfortable to you. Seeing ourselves
as innocent, willing to forgive anything that we see as ‘wrong with us,’ and accepting what is, without judgment, are some key thoughts to consider.

Unlike other support groups that only support you in your illness, this support group will support your wellness, your health, your wholeness. One of the reasons illness remains chronic is because we focus on it and as long as we focus on it, the illness will continue. Oh, yes, we can take medicine and the symptoms might go into remission but, the question is why do they keep returning? Why isn’t healing complete and permanent?

The members of the support group understand that you suffer. But the best support that can be given will be to help you discover the true cause behind your suffering and your dis-ease. A Course in Miracles teaches us that the cause of disease starts with our beliefs. The support group will support you in your willingness to look at these beliefs with the help of your Higher Power. They will be able to see your innocence, your perfect health and help you forgive yourself for anything that you may judge to be bad, wrong or not wanted.

God’s Will is that we be happy; God is Good; God doesn’t will for His Children to be sick. His Will is for us to see our Innocence; our Wholeness, our Perfection, our Wellness, our Sinlessness and our Perfect Happiness. Our Higher Power, which is the Voice for God in us, will guide us to release fearful thoughts that make us believe we are guilty of sin and cause sickness, and replace them with the Truth, with thoughts of Love.

God is Life and Oneness, not sickness, death, or separation. ACIM teaches us to think like God, not apart from Him. “For your Father is Your Creator and You are like Him.” (T-11.III:5:7)

Jesus demonstrated that wellness comes when we turn our thoughts to God completely. Embracing the Love we are, our true innocence, and turning away from thoughts that condemn and injure us and make us believe we have sinned, brings healing.

New Website Ministry

by Rev. Julieanne Paige, O.M.C.

Rev. Julieanne PaigeSometimes guidance from Holy Spirit can seem like it is a little obscure or even irrelevant to us and the path that we are on. When we are on a spiritual path the mundane can often become something that we decide not to pay much attention to. However, if we are choosing to surrender and create space for Holy Spirit, we can find that in hindsight we were being guided to our perfect path Home… no matter how mundane or irrelevant it might feel at the time.

Open mindedness is a part of the spiritual journey but we can often find that, with a little examination, we still place conditions on our open mindedness. When we receive signs and symbols from Holy Spirit we can sometimes end up judging those signs and symbols as to whether they are really from Holy Spirit or from the ego. There is a gentle feeling that comes from Holy Spirit’s guidance. There is no rush and no anxiety.

Jesus makes a suggestion for creating space for guidance in A Course in Miracles. It is simply to ask the questions “What would you have me do? Where would you have me go? What would you have me say, and to whom?” (W-pI.71.9:3-5)

Over the recent months I have been asking this and receiving Guidance to continue my web design course. The questions that come with that Guidance are obvious. How can web design be relevant to my ministry? It was intriguing enough when I followed Guidance to start the web design course. There was such a feeling of knowing this was what I was meant to be doing, even though I had no idea what relevance it had to my ministry.

When I made the decision four years ago to leave my office job and follow Holy Spirit’s guidance I had no idea how working online would fit into my future. It seemed rather strange to me that I became very passionate about being online considering that it was a relatively short time ago that I found it difficult to even understand the process of copying and pasting.

I sat down at my PC for the first time since I left my day job and asked, “OK. What do I do now?” The answer was, “Share what you know.”

I have come to understand in ACIM terms that this is a simple process of teaching to learn.

I began by starting an online book club that has now grown into a very loving community. I continued to learn about being online, blogging, creating communities, networking, building websites and couldn’t understand why I felt so drawn to this. I trusted in Holy Spirit’s guidance without knowing that it would find a place in my ministry. I continued the Pathways of Light courses and was ordained last January.

It now seems that I am being guided to share what I have learned over the past four years through a new website ministry. Even this has sounded a little strange to me as it is quite a new idea for ministry.

Again I stand open to guidance as I begin to offer to work with Pathways of Light ministers that are interested in building their own websites. As irrelevant as I thought that working online was to my spiritual path, it is obvious that Holy Spirit had a plan for me. Right now we are in the process of building a website ministry which will allow ministers to have mentors and support in building, networking and using their site to its fullest capabilities. We will keep you posted as this ministry is beginning. In the meantime if it is something that you are thinking of doing as an extension of your ministry, or if you would like to be a part of this ministry, please feel free to contact me.

From Heartbreak to Happiness

by Rev. Dennis Flynn, O.M.C.

Rev. Dennis FlynnIn April 2011, I ended a relationship with a woman I was deeply in love with. I met her in 2008 while I was going through a painful divorce with my ex-wife. And in spite of all the rational reasons why I should not have pursued another relationship during that difficult period, my ego craved the coddling, attention and affection of a “special relationship.”

Needless to say, the relationship was doomed from the start. I was attracted to her to be sure and we did enjoy a deep and fulfilling romance. But having gone through the pain and dissolution of a marriage, I was simply unable to open myself and completely trust her.

Loving her wasn’t the problem. My loving me was.

In the few months prior to the breakup, I stumbled upon Pathways of Light. I had been reading the Workbook of A Course in Miracles and I was interested in studying the material further. I enrolled and started taking the correspondence courses. But while I began to experience the self-healing from the Holy Spirit, it was not enough to salvage our fragile relationship. So I released her to find someone who could give her what I didn’t think I was yet capable of giving. Although it was a painful break-up, it was a peaceful one filled with mutual admiration, understanding and respect. And we did stay in touch with each other over the following year.

The Pathways of Light course studies facilitated the healing of my broken heart and eventually culminated in my ordination as a Pathways of Light minister in January 2012. I was thriving. I had done considerable healing work on myself and accomplished a personal goal of becoming ordained.

And then in May 2012 she called me to ask for relationship advice. My heart sunk. My ego was bruised. My spirit crushed. Although I had released her, I never really let her go. And now it felt like I was losing her all over again. I felt a pain in my chest, a weight in my stomach and an ache in my bones. And sleep would not rescue me from my grief.

And then I did everything contrary to what A Course in Miracles teaches. I reacted. I attacked. I defended. I retaliated. I demeaned her. I questioned her motives. I ridiculed her “issues.”

And then I felt guilty. Horribly, terribly guilty.

So, I called upon the Holy Spirit for help. And June 1, I received my answer: “No one can suffer loss unless it be his own decision. No one suffers pain except his choice elects this state for him. No one can grieve nor fear nor think him sick unless these are the outcomes that he wants.” (W-pI.152.1:1-3)

Further on, “The power of decision is our own. And we accept of him that which we are, and humbly recognize the Son of God. To recognize God’s Son implies as well that all self-concepts have been laid aside, and recognized as false.” (W-pI.152:10:1-3)

A Course in Miracles describes a miracle as a change in perception. And that is exactly what happened.

I made a conscious choice to see her differently than the pain in my heart was projecting. I recognized her as the Son of God. I realized she isn’t her “issues.” None of us are. She is, and always was, perfect. And I told her so.

I told her many things since then. We talked a lot over the next several weeks. And on July 20 we went on a date.

We have been seeing each other ever since…
