Holy Spirit, Why Am I Doing This?

Carly D. GlasmyreAs a Pathways of Light ministerial candidate, I am currently working on Course 112: Knowing Your True Purpose with Rev. Maria Felipe. In this course, one of the assignments is to ask Holy Spirit a question, and write down the answer received. When I got to this assignment, I listened within for what I needed to ask and was surprised when this came up: Why am I doing this? Why am I taking these Pathways of Light courses? Why am I doing A Course in Miracles? What is my true focus? What is the practice I should commit to?

Though I felt sheepish asking these questions, Holy Spirit answered them in His reassuring, gentle way. His answers reinforced my faith, assured me that I was on the right path, and encouraged me to keep going. He reoriented me to my true purpose: Connecting with Him.

When I read Holy Spirit’s response to Rev. Maria, she said that it needed to be shared, that it was for all of us, not just me. She encouraged me to submit this to Miracles News, which connects me to another aspect of my true purpose: Extending Love.

It is a joy to share this answer, and I hope it helps you on your path as much as it helped (and continues to help) me!

“Do not be afraid. You are doing well. You ask Me why you are doing this. The answer is happiness. You feel selfish, but happiness is God’s Will for you, so you’re simply in alignment with Him.

You feel lost in words and concepts. Do not be afraid. Do not be afraid if you feel you don’t understand something. What matters most is this — this connection. All your life, it has been Me you were looking for. We can maintain this connection all day long. We can heal all day long. You just have to notice if you’re not at peace and come back. Relax and come back. Always I am here, welcoming you. Call on Me anytime, do not be afraid. I live to be with you.

Words have come to you again and again — choose peace first. It scares you. You think it’s too simple. Peace is your natural state when you’re with Me, and it is the state that helps you remain aware of Me. In every situation, relax and remember that you could see peace instead of this. Relax, and hand over feelings of unrest or fear or stress. Hand it over and trust. You only need to say, ‘Holy Spirit, I give this situation to you and I trust.’ It is simple. Smile. I am here, and I love you.”
