My Brother

Does my brother deserve my wrath
Can I truly know his path
Do I know his unseen pain
His hidden heartaches
fears and shame
If holy writ bids never judge
Then wrongly I have
nursed my grudge
When my brothers faults I tell
I step inside my prison cell
And close the door
and lock it tight
Each I claim that I am right
Now when my brothers’ lack I see
My errant gaze must turn to me
Then peace and freedom do I find
And healing for my weary mind
