Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

As softening beauty within

the surrendering heart.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When one hears the symphony of bird-song

Amid the traffic of illusion.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When one perceives its illumination constant

Among the clammy clouds of travail.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When one pauses to praise the perpetual

life-breath given… Unasked and unbidden.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When gratitude is of greater delight

than gain, When loving is more

longed-for than love received.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

With acquiescence before the changes and

chances, With resignation before the

Perpetual permanently abiding.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When communication leads to reunion with

the One Beloved, When all the rivers

flowing flow back into the sea.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When leaders and laymen clasp hands

To encircle the earth in unity.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

When all people recognize all people

as relatives and relations,

As transcendental creations.

Peace, like soothing sunlight, dawns

Because of the promise of a loving

Providence “Dependable as rising stars.”
