IX. The Reflection of Holiness, P 8
8 The response of holiness to any form of error is always the same. There is no contradiction in what holiness calls forth. Its one response is healing, without regard for what is brought to it. Those who have learned to offer only healing, because of the reflection of holiness in them, are ready at last for Heaven. There, holiness is not a reflection, but rather the actual condition of what was but reflected to them here. God is no image, and His creations, as part of Him, hold Him in them in truth. They do not merely reflect truth, for they are truth.
Journal
Here is the image that came to my mind when I read this. I think I have sinned, that there is darkness in my mind and I feel tainted by it. I have a whole story about how bad I am and if anyone heard the story, they, too, would know that I am evil. Maybe I was disloyal and hurt someone I loved. Maybe I stole or treated someone with disdain. Maybe I judged someone and gossiped about them and they were deeply hurt by my actions. Maybe I murdered someone.
There are so many stories to represent the guilt and fear in our minds. But whatever it is I have done, I am tired of suffering for it and I go to the Holy Spirit with my sad little story. I see myself standing before an altar where I place my story in the hopes of forgiveness. The room is suddenly filled with the most beautiful light, brilliant and warm.
It exudes love and that love wraps me in its embrace and I am healed. For a moment, I feel cheated. The Holy Spirit didn’t even look at my story, carefully constructed, sometimes over years of gathering proof to make my sin apparent. But the love of God has healed my heart and soon I forget all about my transgression. I am clean and whole and perfect as I was created. I will gladly look within to find all darkness so that I can return to this healing room until there is only light in my mind.
Then I go back into the world of time and I bring with me the desire for everyone to be healed. I look at my friend who thinks he has sinned and who carries the burden of his story with a heaviness and a darkness that he thinks is permanent. I’m not interested in the story. It is irrelevant to healing. I just know who he is. I remember him in all his glory and perfection. This is the way I pray for him, and this is the way he is healed.
How am I able to do this? I am as God created me. I remember that I am even if I don’t yet always act like it, or even feel it. But I accept that it is true, and if it is true for me, it is true for this friend of mine as well. All I have to do is know what is true in the face of what he believes about himself. It isn’t really even hard. If he thought he was blind, but I could see that he only had his eyes closed, would it be hard to know that he could see just fine in spite of his belief?
It is that easy to know the truth of someone and so heal them as the Holy Spirit heals us. I may not yet be able to hold onto the truth of what we are all the time, but I can do it sometimes and when I do, I heal as the Holy Spirit heals. And if I experience doubt and uncertainty, then the healer is unhealed and I return to the Holy Spirit for correction, because he is never uncertain of me.

IX. The Reflection of Holiness, P 7
7 Could you but realize for a single instant the power of healing that the reflection of God, shining in you, can bring to all the world, you could not wait to make the mirror of your mind clean to receive the image of the holiness that heals the world. The image of holiness that shines in your mind is not obscure, and will not change. Its meaning to those who look upon it is not obscure, for everyone perceives it as the same. All bring their different problems to its healing light, and all their problems find but healing there.
Journal
Sometimes, Jesus, I ask for healing and think it is done and that my mind is that clean mirror, but then I notice the same unhealed thoughts, the anxiety or anger, or whatever emotions the thoughts evoke. Why is it that I have to keep asking? Is there something else I can do? Sometimes I am patient with this, but sometimes I just want to cry.
Jesus: Sometimes, Sister, you know what it is in your mind that needs to be corrected, and sometimes you just see the symbolic representation of the problem. When this happens, it would be good to get to the core of the problem. Other times, you still want to be relieved of the effects of your beliefs without actually changing the belief. As you know, this will not happen. This needs to be seen clearly.
The reason for not releasing the belief itself needs to be clearly seen. You have a good process for doing this work with the root cause inquiry. Journal with this process and find what it is that must be released. The thoughts that won’t seem to go away no matter how hard you try have some value to you, and that value must be acknowledged and then seen as without value. Let them go when you become aware of them, and you will see these thoughts fall away.
When you put this work off or try to take shortcuts with it, you have done so because you are still unwilling to be corrected. Recognize that this has happened and choose again. Do the rules for decision restorative to help you loosen your hold on the belief you think is so valuable that you are willing to suffer just to keep it. You think I am failing to help you, but it is you who are failing to let me help you. Open your heart to me dear sister, and I will help you with this. Don’t put this off. The world awaits its release.

IX. The Reflection of Holiness, P 6
6 Reflections are seen in light. In darkness they are obscure, and their meaning seems to lie only in shifting interpretations, rather than in themselves. The reflection of God needs no interpretation. It is clear. Clean but the mirror, and the message that shines forth from what the mirror holds out for everyone to see, no one can fail to understand. It is the message that the Holy Spirit is holding to the mirror that is in him. He recognizes it because he has been taught his need for it, but knows not where to look to find it. Let him, then, see it in you and share it with you.
Journal
I had a hard time with this paragraph. I am clear that the darkness in my mind makes it hard to see the reflection of God. As my mind is healed, this reflection is clearer and perfectly understandable. So an example would be when I watch someone act in a way that is self-destructive. If I am watching with my eyes alone, I can feel afraid for that person because of what I am seeing. But if I see with a clear mind, that is, perceive the truth, I am not afraid. In fact, I am strong in my certainty of that person because I know who they are in truth.
I became confused with the next part. I’m going to look at it a bit at a time.
Clean but the mirror, and the message that shines forth from what the mirror holds out for everyone to see, no one can fail to understand.
I accept healing of my mind and I see the message that is for everyone and that is perfectly understandable to everyone. I see it and understand it and believe it. As I live that message, I extend it and others will see it in action and this will help them to accept it more fully.
It is the message that the Holy Spirit is holding to the mirror that is in him.
The message the Holy Spirit is holding to the mirror is the message that is in me already. He is reflecting it back to me so that I can remember what I have known.
He recognizes it because he has been taught his need for it, but knows not where to look to find it.
When I receive this message I will recognize it. I know I have need of it. I have learned through contrast that what I see darkly is painful and what I see in light relieves me of pain. The problem is that I did not know where to look for these messages of truth. That knowledge has been lost to me because of the many eons of time in which I failed to look for it.
Let him, then, see it in you and share it with you.
Now that I have opened my mind to the Holy Spirit, allowed Him to clean the mirror for me as much as I can at this time, I see clearly and so speak and act from that more enlightened perspective. I forgive more and love more. And my brothers and sisters who are in my sphere of influence see it in me and reflect it back to me. This sharing, one with another, is what brings us back into conscious union and sharpens our Christ Vision.

IX. The Reflection of Holiness, P 5
5 In this world you can become a spotless mirror, in which the Holiness of your Creator shines forth from you to all around you. You can reflect Heaven here. Yet no reflections of the images of other gods must dim the mirror that would hold God’s reflection in it. Earth can reflect Heaven or hell; God or the ego. You need but leave the mirror clean and clear of all the images of hidden darkness you have drawn upon it. God will shine upon it of Himself. Only the clear reflection of Himself can be perceived upon it.
Journal
I love the spotless mirror image. I can see my errors as smudges rather than sins. Guilt is a smudge on the mirror, as is fear and grievances. These are the images of the false gods that dim the mirror that Jesus is talking about. Because I want a clear mind that can reflect God, the Holy Spirit is helping me by bringing to my attention the smudges that need to be wiped clean.
Nowadays, when I become aware of a smudge, I get to work on it right away. I thank the Holy Spirit for bringing it to my attention, and then I use a process to help me get to the bottom of it and to ultimately forgive myself for my confusion. I sometimes use the Rules for Decision process. I also use Root Cause Inquiry, especially if I suspect that I don’t really know the true cause of the upset. This process has proven invaluable to me. Regina Dawn Akers has this process written out step by step with excellent explanations and suggestions. If you are interested you can find it on her website. Root cause inquiry link:

However I choose to do this, I do it as quickly as possible. I want to be free. I want a clear mind. I want to reflect God and I want to know God.

IX. The Reflection of Holiness, P 4
4 In the temple, Holiness waits quietly for the return of them that love it. The Presence knows they will return to purity and to grace. The graciousness of God will take them gently in, and cover all their sense of pain and loss with the immortal assurance of their Father’s Love. There, fear of death will be replaced with joy of life. For God is Life, and they abide in Life. Life is as holy as the Holiness by which it was created. The Presence of Holiness lives in everything that lives, for Holiness created life, and leaves not what It created holy as Itself.
Journal
We are holy because we were created by Holiness. That will never change. Holiness waits for our return and will welcome us when that occurs. All the effects of our illusion will disappear, fear of death being replaced by the joy of life. No more pain and loss. There is nothing we must do to attain this.
Our part is to simply release the beliefs that keep us from accepting our inheritance. It is like this. Suppose you found out you have a very wealthy relative and if you go to meet him, you will share in his wealth. You would never have another need in your life. But you have no memory of meeting this man. You are told that you walked away from him and struck out on your own.
There would be some fear about him. Who is he? Why would he want me back if I left him? Why did I leave him to begin with? Also, where this man lives things are different than they are here, a lot different. You are told that you will have to change your ways in order to live in this apparent paradise.
You would have to change a lot of things like there are many emotions you will never have again. There is no war or strife in that land and so you will have to give up all the defenses you have had to keep yourself safe. This place sounds too good to be true and so do you really want to go there unarmed?
Your skill and your intelligence are completely superfluous. Everything you have ever learned will be meaningless. The money you spent your life earning and saving is useless. The relationships you so carefully built, finding just the right people to meet your needs, and who also wanted what you had to offer, the careful balancing act to keep them everyone feeling safe and deserving of the love, all lost.
In this place, everyone is equal to everyone else and everyone is loved in the same way. And everyone is welcomed, even the man who hurt you, and the parent who abandoned you, and there will be no separation, one from another. There will be no consequences for the pain they caused you. No justice or vengeance, just forgiveness without regard for the degree of assault.
