Make Way for Peace

Mary:
In our reading of A Course in Miracles this morning, what stood out to me was prayer in Workbook Lesson 208:

I will be still and let the earth be still along with me. And in that stillness we will find the peace of God. It is within my heart, which witnesses to God Himself. (ACIM W-pI.208.1:2-4)

This prayer reminds me that the peace of God is in my heart right now. It reminds me that as I am willing to be still, I find the peace of God. Here is my salvation. Here is everything I want. Today is devoted to accepting the stillness that lies within my heart. This is how I put God first.

Robert:
This prayer reminds me that

the peace of God is already in me. I can’t “make” peace; peace is an attribute of God’s creation. But to know the peace that is already in me, I need to be willing to step back from the turmoil of the world. I need to rise above the battleground and disconnect from the thought system of separation. There is no peace there.

But when I am willing to step back and let go, I make way for the peace that is always there to shine forth. So any time I notice that I am not at peace, it is time for me to step back, let go and rise above the battleground. It is not my battle and I no longer need to make it mine. I need only clear the way and peace will come of itself. So today I will practice stepping back and letting go to make way for peace, make way for God’s blessing.

Accepting Love’s Gentleness and Patience

Mary:
This morning I was guided to return to the poster that comes with course 914: The Power of Gentleness and Patience that I keep nearby to remind me when I forget. It is so helpful to me and I want to share it with you:

My Prayer of Accepting Love’s Gentleness and Patience

Love, I surrender to Your gentle and patient care.
I let go of my perceptions of a past.
I let go of my perceptions of a future.
I accept only Your eternal Loving Presence.

I have no need to plan for my safety.
My needs are provided for continuously
in Your gentle and patient care.

I let go of all I thought the world was.
I let go of what I thought my brothers were.
I give back to You all I thought was mine alone.

I accept Love’s gentleness and patience by giving
Love’s gentleness and patience to the whole Sonship.

Robert:
The ego believes its safety lies in form. It tells me that if I have a good plan for the future, I will be safe. It tells me that if I acquire certain things and avoid other things, I’ll be safe. Yet because these forms are illusions, they are always subject to change. Either the forms themselves will change or they will not bring the effect of safety that I sought. The ego has an answer for this: Find some other form. Thus it keeps its primary goal of seek and do not find in play. No safety can ever be found in the ego thought system because it is the denial of the certainty of changeless Love.

In moments of right-mindedness, I feel the all encompassing presence of Love. I feel safe in Its changelessness. I feel blessed by Love’s flow through me as it joins with all my brothers. I am certain that all my needs are met. But I toggle between this alive and peaceful feeling and the uncertainty and vulnerability that comes when I think I am a body in a world where everything seems a potential threat. The idea of changeless Love seems like a meaningless fantasy that could not possibly protect me from the dangers of the world.

I am grateful now that I know that I have the means in my mind to let go of this fearful image of myself and remember Who I really am. I remember the right-minded moments when I recognized the safety and certainty of Love reflected in the world. This motivates me to practice offering all my fearful thoughts, all my attempts at planning for my safety, to the Holy Spirit in quiet. As I am truly willing to receive His answer, all my perceived problems are quietly resolved. And so today is another day of happy practice of turning my thoughts over to the Holy Spirit and following His lead.

Remembering We Are Love

Mary:
In this morning’s reading in A Course in Miracles, the key phrase that is helpful to my awakening is, “God is but Love, and therefore so am I.” Today my function is to experience this, not only to take in the words, but to allow the feeling of this truth to come through. As I open to the experience of being only Love, there is a powerful knowing that everyone is now the same Love that I am. There are no differences in Love. This universal Love is the truth about us all right now because Love is eternal and changeless.

Today as I observe all the stories going on in this world of separation, I see that I can very quietly remember the truth about us all. I can remember that we are all share in God’s universal Love. This remembering helps all the stories of guilt and danger to fade — all the stories of oil spills and conflict — they are simply reflections of the false belief that we could be separate from God.

The laughing Buddha comes to mind as I practice opening to the truth that we are all God’s Love eternally and none of the scary stories are true. We are all still safe as God created us. Our Father has made a heavenly Home for us and we are willing to cease our mind wanderings. God is but Love, and so is God’s one Son — and this includes everyone; no one is left behind, no one is forgotten. Today I am willing to experience this truth. This is my top priority.

Robert:
All I really want is to remember Who I am. Today I can take steps that will lead me closer to this goal. Today I will practice being mindful of my thoughts and feelings and looking at all of them with the Holy Spirit. He will help me sort the true from the false. He will help me see the Love beyond the images of the world. He will help me see the Love that I am. So today I will step back and let Him lead the way.

Let My Mind Be Healed Today

Robert:
I am reminded of the words from a song: “Love is something if you give it away, you’ll end up having more.” Love is a gift that keeps on giving. Each time I let the Love in my heart extend, I feel blessed. When I see the Love in a brother, I feel blessed. This is why forgiveness is the key to happiness. When I let go of perception of offense by a brother, the barrier to Love is removed and I see the Love that is always there. And I feel blessed.

Holy Spirit, guide my vision today. Help me see the Love that you see. Help me let go of false perceptions that interfere with this recognition of eternal Love. For today I would learn of your lesson of Love that I may remember Who I am.

Mary:
This morning as I go into a place of quiet, I am reminded to forgive the dream of separation… to let it go. Attachment to the dream of separation is really attachment to nothing. In truth I am not a separate self. I am not alone and different. In truth I am united with every brother in the Mind of Love. In truth, the one Mind of Love is all we are or ever can be.

My job now is to let go of taking illusions seriously. This brings me the great blessing of inner peace and joy. The truth is true and nothing else is true. My only goal is to be open to receive the truth from the Holy Spirit today.

Love is. God is. Nothing else is real. I wake up as I willingly let what is not real pass by. I no longer desire to be lost in illusions of separation and differences. Holy Spirit, I let my mind be healed today. That is what today is for and I give thanks.

Seeing with Love

Robert:
If I want to know my Self, I need to see as the Holy Spirit sees. If I judge a brother, I am judging an image of myself, reflected back to me. In truth there is nothing outside of me. Everything I see reflects what I believe I am.

To know the quiet joy and Love of my Self, I need to learn to look past all images. This is not done with the body’s eyes, but with the vision of the Holy Spirit. To recognize my Self, I must value the vision of the Holy Spirit more than I value what the body sees. The more I align my focus or attention with the Holy Spirit, the more Love I experience because I more clearly see the Love that is everywhere.

Today we are having lunch with friends. This is a golden opportunity for me to practice seeing with Holy Spirit’s vision. This is how I will experience the Love in them and thus the Love in me, which is One. Our meeting can be a beautiful blessing if I am willing to let the Holy Spirit show me the Love. I am willing to get high on Love today.

Mary:
As I let my mind quiet and listen, it comes to me that my job today is to let go and let God. This means that I decide nothing on my own. It means that I step back and ask for the Light of truth in every situation. This means that I let the truth that comes light my way through the day. This means that I let all my thoughts be corrected by my inner Comforter and Guide.

As I practice this, today will be a happy and restful day. I will be aware that Love is everywhere, which brings me to the truth that I am Love and nothing else.

Remembering Love’s Eternal Presence

Robert:
As we read in A Course in Miracles today, a wonderful feeling washed over me. I was reminded that in truth I remain joined with eternal Love. Whether I am aware of it or not, it is always there, holding me in its soft embrace. All that blocks my awareness of Love’s presence is a belief that it is possible to be separate from Love. It is this belief that must be forgiven so that I can return to the full experience of total immersion in Love. I have the means in my mind, given me by God, with which to let go of the sad and weary world of the ego. Love is joyous. Love is changeless and cannot be weary.

Today as I practice holding my mind open to the Holy Spirit’s interpretation in every moment, I have the opportunity to remember Love’s joy and Love’s peace. Today’s reading reminded me that this is God’s promise and guarantee. And I give thanks.

Mary:
As I go to the Holy Spirit in quiet this morning, I am reminded once again to let go of the past and the future. In eternity there is only the eternal presence of Love everywhere. Today it is my opportunity to remember the eternal presence of Love everywhere. In truth this is my occupation. As I practice remembering Love, I heal my mind and, because all minds are joined, I heal the world. Oh happy day!

High on Christ’s Vision

Robert:
Seeing my brother as a body is a “buzz killer.” When I see with Christ’s vision, I see the Love of God reflected back to me and it brings joy to my heart. Christ’s vision does not see my brother as a body, but as an extension of God’s Love.

If I see my brother as a body, I see him as different, a potential competitor for limited resources and specialness. I see him as limited, and what I see in him I teach myself that I am as well. Since the body is an image of being alone, it is a depressing reminder that I must be alone, on my own and vulnerable to the inevitability of death. Now that’s a buzz killer!

I am grateful that A Course in Miracles is teaching me that this image of my brother is not true and therefore it does not reflect the truth of What I am. It is teaching me that I can learn another way of seeing that does not rely on the limited scope of the body’s perception. Christ’s vision shows me the truth beyond the image of a body. This truth is so magnificent, so full of Light and joy and peace and Love, that it is beyond description in the world’s terms.

In every moment the Holy Spirit in my mind offers me this vision of my brother and myself. I need only be willing to give my full attention to the Holy Spirit instead of the habitual thought system of the ego. I am grateful for another day to practice giving my attention to the part of my mind that shows me the magnificent truth of my brother and myself. I am willing to let Love guide my seeing today. It’s a greater high than the Rocky Mountains could ever offer!

Mary:
This morning as I get quiet and listen, the idea comes to me that there is only one problem and only one solution. The problem is joining with the voice for specialness and the solution is stepping back from belief in specialness and opening my mind to Christ’s vision.

When I am willing to do this, my perception of the world is quieted… In the stillness, peace returns… I rest here awhile in this quietness with an open, quiet mind… Here I am brought past time to unspeakable timelessness… Here is peace…here is joy… here is all power… Here I remember that we all — the whole Sonship — rest in God’s Love, right now…

There is only one problem and one solution, and the solution lies in my mind, waiting for my receptivity to the eternal truth. Being willing to lay down belief in specialness brings us all to the lawns of Heaven. We all are in Heaven now. When we become aware of it is up to us.
