Accepting Our Strength

When you have felt the strength in you, which makes all miracles within your easy reach, you will not doubt.

This is accomplished very simply, as you instruct yourself that you are not a body. Faith goes to what you want, and you instruct your mind accordingly. Your will remains your teacher, and your will has all the strength to do what it desires. You can escape the body if you choose. You can experience the strength in you.

Remember that all sense of weakness is associated with the belief you are a body, a belief that is mistaken and deserves no faith. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.91.4:4;5:2-6;9:3)

In our daily experience it seems impossible to believe that we are not a body in a world of form. Every signal the body sends us seems to confirm that the body and the world are real. We seem to be separate from everything that is outside the body. Our minds seem to be separate from all “other” minds.

It is this belief in a false image of ourselves that must be let go. To do this we need to accept the help of the Holy Spirit, which offers us all the strength of God. We are not alone but we must be willing to accept help from beyond our beliefs. Accepting this help is accepting our strength.

Our practice today is to remind ourselves frequently that we are not a body and we want the Holy Spirit’s help to see the truth beyond the false images. We want to see the Love that is ever present. We want to accept the miracle that peels away the illusions of the belief in separation that we may see with the perfect clarity of Love. Thus we will remember our real strength that we share with God.

Gratitude to the One Self We Share

Thanks be to you, the holy Son of God. For as you were created, you contain all things within your Self. And you are still as God created you. Nor can you dim the light of your perfection. In your heart the Heart of God is laid. He holds you dear, because you are Himself. All gratitude belongs to you, because of what you are.

Give thanks as you receive it. Be you free of all ingratitude to anyone who makes your Self complete. And from this Self is no one left outside. Give thanks for all the countless channels which extend this Self. All that you do is given unto Him. All that you think can only be His Thoughts, sharing with Him the holy Thoughts of God. Earn now the gratitude you have denied yourself when you forgot the function God has given you. But never think that He has ever ceased to offer thanks to you. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.197.8-9)

We are being called to pay attention only to the Thoughts we share with God. These are the Thoughts of our one Self. These Thoughts are founded in the Love of our Self and extend that Love.

We answer this call by seeing through our one Self, which knows our oneness with the truth in all our brothers. When we see our brothers through the Love of our Self, our hearts are filled with gratitude, for gratitude is part of Love. As we see through our one Self, we set aside the petty judgments of the ego and welcome the grandeur of the Love of God, which we are and which we shall forever be. This is what we will see today as we answer the call. And we give thanks.

We Are Innocent, Loved and Free

If you would be a happy learner, you must give everything you have learned to the Holy Spirit, to be unlearned for you. (A Course in Miracles T-14.II.6:1)

The lessons of the ego are in direct opposition to the truth that we remain as God created us, complete and whole, one with our Creator. The ego teaches us to deny the truth of what we are. We have learned this lesson so well that we are convinced that we are bodies in a world of separate identities and forms, all of which are constantly changing and will ultimately crumble into nothingness. This is not a happy lesson. It is a lesson of fear and guilt.

We do not need to learn the truth, but we do need to unlearn what we have taught ourselves that makes us unaware of the truth we already know. But because the lessons we have learned were our choice, we believe them. Thus we need help from beyond our belief to unlearn these lessons.

This is why we need to give all that we have learned to the Holy Spirit and let Him unlearn it for us. We cannot do it on our own because the belief that we are on our own is a wall built against the truth. The Holy Spirit does not believe the wall exists and is not limited by it. And so He becomes our dear Friend, Who provides a bridge across the wall from the unhappiness of the ego’s lessons to the joy of remembering we are innocent. We are loved. We are free, and we are Home.

Be Still and Listen to the Truth

Let me be still and listen to the truth. Let my own feeble voice be still, and let me hear the mighty Voice for Truth Itself assure me that I am God’s perfect Son. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.118.2)

The truth is that the whole Sonship is still as God created it. Nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. Love is. God is. And then we cease to speak.

Today our practice is to be still and listen to the truth. The truth returns as we give it welcome. We welcome the truth with willingness to receive Holy Spirit’s vision. He shows us the changeless Love behind all the changing appearances of the world. In this changeless Love we recognize our Self as God’s perfect Son.

Healing Our Misperceptions

When you limit yourself we are not of one mind, and that is sickness. Yet sickness is not of the body, but of the mind. All forms of sickness are signs that the mind is split, and does not accept a unified purpose. (A Course in Miracles T-8.IX.8:5-7)

Thinking we are a body is a limit. Mind is formless and cannot be contained. Mind is one, whole and cannot be separated. The unified purpose of our one Self is to be Love and extend Love eternally, without limit. Believing in Love’s opposite, the ego thought of separation, the mind is sick and needs healing.

We free ourselves to Love and be Love through forgiveness, which means letting go of believing that we are separate from our brother, our Self and our Creator. Separation is a misperception. As we practice taking all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit, He will exchange them for the true unified perception that shows us we are one with All. This is how our minds are healed. This is how we join in the oneness of Love.

Release from Fear

Death is the central dream from which all illusions stem.

What seems to die has but been misperceived and carried to illusion. Now it becomes your task to let the illusion be carried to the truth. Be steadfast but in this; be not deceived by the “reality” of any changing form. Truth neither moves nor wavers nor sinks down to death and dissolution. And what is the end of death? Nothing but this; the realization that the Son of God is guiltless now and forever. Nothing but this. But do not let yourself forget it is not less than this. (A Course in Miracles M-27.1:1;7:3-10)

If the end of death is the realization that the Son of God is guiltless, then forgiveness is the means by which we accept our eternal Life in God. Forgiveness brings release from fear and welcomes God’s gift of peace. Forgiveness comes effortlessly when we bring our illusions to the truth, when we let the Holy Spirit correct our misperceptions. This is our practice for today.

Let Love Decide

You have the right to all the universe; to perfect peace, complete deliverance from all effects of sin, and to the life eternal, joyous and complete in every way, as God appointed for His holy Son. This is the only justice Heaven knows, and all the Holy Spirit brings to earth. Your special function shows you nothing else but perfect justice can prevail for you. And you are safe from vengeance in all forms. The world deceives, but it cannot replace God’s justice with a version of its own. For only love is just, and can perceive what justice must accord the Son of God. Let love decide, and never fear that you, in your unfairness, will deprive yourself of what God’s justice has allotted you. (A Course in Miracles T-25.VIII.14)

To let Love decide we must let Holy Spirit guide our decisions. The ego thought system has no clue what Love is and can offer only specialness as a substitute. Yet specialness always brings with it guilt and belief in sin. But if we allow Holy Spirit to guide all our decisions, all guilt will disappear. We are relieved of the responsibility of trying to grasp all the effects of a decision on everyone, everywhere and in all of time. This is beyond our grasp but wholly within the Holy Spirit’s wisdom.

We can relax into the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all our decisions. Relieved of the weight of making decisions based on incomplete information, we can accept the grace of Love’s gifts of peace and happiness. When we let Love decide, we learn of our innocence and our safety. We learn of the certainty of Love’s care for us. And we experience the joy of joining with all our brothers in the peace of Heaven. All this is given us when we let Love decide.
