Finding Contentment in Love’s Eternal Extension

Today I claim the gifts forgiveness gives.

I will not wait another day to find the treasures that my Father offers me. ²Illusions are all vain, and dreams are gone even while they are woven out of thoughts that rest on false perceptions. ³Let me not accept such meager gifts again today. ⁴God’s Voice is offering the peace of God to all who hear and choose to follow Him. ⁵This is my choice today. ⁶And so I go to find the treasures God has given me.

I seek but the eternal. ²For Your Son can be content with nothing less than this. ³What, then, can be his solace but what You are offering to his bewildered mind and frightened heart, to give him certainty and bring him peace? ⁴Today I would behold my brother sinless. ⁵This Your Will for me, for so will I behold my sinlessness. Forgiveness is a gift we give our self because nothing exists outside our mind. The appearance of external images and events is just a projection of a mind split by the wish for specialness. There can be no differences in Love’s oneness. When we forgive a perception of differences we open our mind to accept Love’s Presence.

Today we choose to follow the guidance of God’s Voice to help us let go of our misperceptions. We want to know the peace of God as our own. We want join with Love’s eternal extension. We know we will not be content with anything else.

Letting God’s Voice Be Our Guide

The mind that serves the Holy Spirit is unlimited forever, in all ways, beyond the laws of time and space, unbound by any preconceptions, and with strength and power to do whatever it is asked. ²Attack thoughts cannot enter such a mind, because it has been given to the Source of love, and fear can never enter in a mind that has attached itself to love. ³It rests in God. ⁴And who can be afraid who lives in Innocence, and only loves?

Here [in the body] does [the ego] hide, and here it can be seen as what it is. ²Declare your innocence and you are free. ³The body disappears, because you have no need of it except the need the Holy Spirit sees. ⁴For this, the body will appear as useful form for what the mind must do. ⁵It thus becomes a vehicle which helps forgiveness be extended to the all-inclusive goal that it must reach, according to God’s plan.

You are God’s Son. ²In immortality you live forever. ³Would you not return your mind to this? ⁴Then practice well the thought the Holy Spirit gives you for today. ⁵Your brothers stand released with you in it; the world is blessed along with you, God’s Son will weep no more, and Heaven offers thanks for the increase of joy your practice brings even to it. ⁶And God Himself extends His Love and happiness each time you say:

⁷I am not a body. ⁸I am free. ⁹I hear the Voice that God has given me, and it is only this my mind obeys. (A Course in Miracles, W-199.2;4;8. See also ACIM Lesson 199 Insights.)

The God’s Voice is ever-present in our mind. The ego hides It by keeping our split mind preoccupied with conflict, fear and guilt. The practice of pausing to step back from the chaos of the world to quiet our mind helps us welcome the Holy Spirit’s help. In quietness our mind is receptive to His loving guidance to see past the ego’s images to the eternal reality of Love’s unity.

Today we choose to forgive our mistaken beliefs in differences so we can be messengers of Love’s oneness to the world.

Practicing True Forgiveness

…pardon is not asked for what is true. ²It must be limited to what is false. ³It is irrelevant to everything except illusions. ⁴Truth is God’s creation, and to pardon that is meaningless. ⁵All truth belongs to Him, reflects His laws and radiates His Love. ⁶Does this need pardon? ⁷How can you forgive the sinless and eternally benign?

The major difficulty that you find in genuine forgiveness on your part is that you still believe you must forgive the truth, and not illusions.

Forgiveness must be practiced, for the world cannot perceive its meaning, nor provide a guide to teach you its beneficence.

Today we practice true forgiveness, that the time of joining be no more delayed. ²For we would meet with our reality in freedom and in peace. ³Our practicing becomes the footsteps lighting up the way for all our brothers, who will follow us to the reality we share with them. It is important to remember that everything we perceive while we believe we are a body is illusion. This recognition is the foundation of true forgiveness. The world we see is a projection of our belief in separation. Its origin is in our minds, not from some ‘outside’ source.

Forgiveness brings Christ’s vision which overlooks illusions. It shows us the reality of Love’s eternal presence. We see that our unity with our Father and every brother has never been broken. We practice true forgiveness by quieting our mind and accepting the Holy Spirit’s help to heal our fear-based thoughts.

Waking to the Universe of Love

Creation’s gentleness is all I see.

I have indeed misunderstood the world, because I laid my sins on it and saw them looking back at me. ²How fierce they seemed! ³And how deceived was I to think that what I feared was in the world, instead of in my mind alone. ⁴Today I see the world in the celestial gentleness with which creation shines. ⁵There is no fear in it. ⁶Let no appearance of my sins obscure the light of Heaven shining on the world. ⁷What is reflected there is in God’s Mind. ⁸The images I see reflect my thoughts. ⁹Yet is my mind at one with God’s. ¹⁰And so I can perceive creation’s gentleness.

In quiet would I look upon the world, which but reflects Your Thoughts, and mine as well. ²Let me remember that they are the same, and I will see creation’s gentleness. (A Course in Miracles, W-265. See also ACIM Lesson 265 Insights.)

What are our ‘sins’ but our denial of God’s gift of all of His Love? The effect of this denial is a dream where love is absent and fear and guilt a constant presence. This dream is a self-deception with a substitute that hides the eternal presence of our Father’s Love. In sleep we are unaware of the life we live in the gentleness of changeless Love.

Today we choose to quiet our troubled mind. We open to Love’s Presence and let Its Light shine into our dreams to reveal the Thoughts of Love we share with our Creator. We will see these Thoughts reflected in the dream, waking us to the Universe of Love in which we live.

Remembering the Certainty of God’s Love

³Pain is but witness to the Son’s mistakes in what he thinks he is. ⁴It is a dream of fierce retaliation for a crime that could not be committed; for attack on what is wholly unassailable. ⁵It is a nightmare of abandonment by an Eternal Love, which could not leave the Son whom It created out of love.

It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. ²Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way. ³There is no cause beyond yourself that can reach down and bring oppression. ⁴No one but yourself affects you. ⁵There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail. ⁶But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are. ⁷As you perceive the harmlessness in them, they will accept your holy will as theirs. ⁸And what was seen as fearful now becomes a source of innocence and holiness. The ego does not accept responsibility for the pain it causes. It goes all out to project the causes on an external world that is nothing more than a dream, held in place by our mistaken identification with the ego. The ego is not our friend. It wants us dead as the ultimate ‘proof’ that it has won its battle with God.

But what is unassailable does not respond to the ego’s fantasies. Our Father loves us as His Son, without limit. He knows we remain united with Him in His Love. It is time to forgive ourselves for our mistaken wish for specialness. As we accept the forgiving vision of Christ, we let go of the ego’s projections. We see that we dwell in the eternal Heaven of God’s Love. We rest in the certainty of the holiness our Father shares with us.

Accepting Christ as Our True Identity

Christ is God’s Son as He created Him. ²He is the Self we share, uniting us with one another, and with God as well. ³He is the Thought which still abides within the Mind that is His Source. ⁴He has not left His holy home, nor lost the innocence in which He was created. ⁵He abides unchanged forever in the Mind of God.

Christ is the link that keeps you one with God, and guarantees that separation is no more than an illusion of despair, for hope forever will abide in Him. ²Your mind is part of His, and His of yours. ³He is the part in which God’s Answer lies; where all decisions are already made, and dreams are over. ⁴He remains untouched by anything the body’s eyes perceive. ⁵For though in Him His Father placed the means for your salvation, yet does He remain the Self Who, like His Father, knows no sin.

Home of the Holy Spirit, and at home in God alone, does Christ remain at peace within the Heaven of your holy mind. ²This is the only part of you that has reality in truth. ³The rest is dreams. ⁴Yet will these dreams be given unto Christ, to fade before His glory and reveal your holy Self, the Christ, to you at last. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.6.1–3)

Christ is our holy Self, Which never left the Mind of God. He is the true Identity we share with everyone. He is God’s extension of His changeless Love without limit. The bodies we identify with are a deception, made by the ego thought system to limit Love, and thereby deny God’s Son.

Each time we forgive a judgmental thought, a perception of differences, the veil of self-deception gets more transparent. It allows Christ’s vision to show us the Love that keeps us united with our Father and every brother. Today we practice opening our mind to the forgiving eyes of Christ’s vision.

We Rest in the Strength & Power of God’s Love

God has condemned me not. No more do I.

My Father knows my holiness. ²Shall I deny His knowledge, and believe in what His knowledge makes impossible? ³Shall I accept as true what He proclaims as false? ⁴Or shall I take His Word for what I am, since He is my Creator, and the One Who knows the true condition of His Son?

Father, I was mistaken in myself, because I failed to realize the Source from which I came. ²I have not left that Source to enter in a body and to die. ³My holiness remains a part of me, as I am part of You. ⁴And my mistakes about myself are dreams. ⁵I let them go today. ⁶And I stand ready to receive Your Word alone for what I really am. If we think we can be harmed by any thing or circumstance, we are belittling/condemning our self. We are seeing our self as less than God created us, vulnerable to a force greater than our self. Yet God gave us all of His power when He created us, His Son, like Himself. There is no greater power. We are safe, for we are the strength and power of God.

Today we remind ourselves that we rest in the strength and power of God’s Love.
