Our Journey to Our Home in Love

The overlooking of the battleground is now your purpose.

Be lifted up, and from a higher place look down upon it. From there will your perspective be quite different. Here in the midst of it, it does seem real. Here you have chosen to be part of it. Here murder [separation] is your choice. Yet from above, the choice is miracles instead of murder. And the perspective coming from this choice shows you the battle is not real, and easily escaped. Bodies may battle, but the clash of forms is meaningless. And it is over when you realize it never was begun.”

Think what is given those who share their Father’s purpose, and who know that it is theirs. They want for nothing. Sorrow of any kind is inconceivable. Only the Light they Love is in awareness, and only love shines upon them forever. It is their past, their present and their future; always the same, eternally complete and wholly shared. They know it is impossible their happiness could ever suffer change of any kind. Perhaps you think the battleground can offer something you can win. Can it be anything that offers you a perfect calmness, and a sense of love so deep and quiet that no touch of doubt can ever mar your certainty? And that will last forever? The world appears to be in constant conflict because it is a projection of the idea of opposition to oneness. What is divided must conflict. As long as we identify with the belief in separation, forms of conflict and war will be our experience. Yet our experience is based on belief in what could never be real.

This is good news. What is not real cannot really limit us nor harm us. Release from this fearful world requires only that we withdraw our belief in what is not true. Forgiveness is the means to free us from belief in limitation and separation, which makes us blind to reality.

That is why we need the Holy Spirit, our “seeing eye dog,” to lead us out of the darkness. We need only be willing to follow the Guide Whose purpose is to lead us to the Light of Love. Each time we bring our perceptions to the Holy Spirit to receive His correction, we take a step forward in our willingness to return to the Home of peace and happiness and Love. In gratitude we continue our journey.

Opening Our Mind to Love’s Correction

Today we try to understand the truth that giver and receiver are the same. You will need help to make this meaningful, because it is so alien to the thoughts to which you are accustomed. But the Help you need is there. Give Him your faith today, and ask Him that He share your practicing in truth today.”

“…seek sanctuary in the quiet place where thoughts are changed and false beliefs laid by. Repeat [“All that I give is given to myself”], and ask for help in understanding what it really means. Be willing to be taught. Be glad to hear the Voice of truth and healing speak to you, and you will understand the words He speaks, and recognize He speaks your words to you.”

“Do not let your mind forget this goal for long, but tell yourself:

All that I give is given to myself. The Help I need to learn
that this is true is with me now. And I will trust in Him.

Then spend a quiet moment, opening your mind to His correction and His Love. And what you hear of Him you will believe, for what He gives will be received by you. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 126, W-pI.126.8:1-4;10:1-4;11:2-7. See also ACIM Lesson 126 Insights.)

When we see or think of someone we love, our hearts are filled with joy and we reach out to them with a warm embrace. This is but a tiny taste of how our Creator feels about us, who He knows are one with Him.

When we offer the gift of true forgiveness to a brother, we remove the barrier to the experience of the same Love and joy that our Creator feels about us. Forgiveness dissolves the illusion of division so that we can see the truth that we are indeed one with every brother. With that clear vision of the Holy Spirit, we naturally offer love and joy to our brother and simultaneously experience it in ourselves. We experience the gift we give.

Awareness of Our Unity in Love

There is nothing outside you. That is what you must ultimately learn, for it is the realization that the Kingdom of Heaven is restored to you. For God created only [the Kingdom of Heaven], and He did not depart from It, nor leave It separate from Himself. The Kingdom of Heaven is the dwelling place of the Son of God, who left not his Father, and dwells not apart from Him. Heaven is not a place nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect Oneness, and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this Oneness, and nothing else within.

You can stretch out your hand and reach to Heaven. You whose hand is joined with your brother’s have begun to reach beyond the body, but not outside yourself, to reach your shared Identity together. Could This be outside you? Where God is not? Is He a body, and did He create you as He is not, and where He cannot be? You are surrounded only by Him. What limits can there be on you whom He encompasses?” (T-18.VI.1,10)

In Heaven we are aware that we share one Identity… As we open to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing, we become aware of the Light of Love that is in every brother… As we open to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing, we become aware that the same Light of Love is what we are…

As this awareness of our shared Identity grows within our mind, we are filled with a sense of peace because conflict has disappeared. The ego’s belief in differences is dissolved. We are able to easily see past differences to the universal Love That is everywhere.

As we continue to practice opening our mind to the Holy Spirit’s way of seeing, we are filled with gratitude for the truth that we reside in Heaven always, even though the body’s eyes show us something different. We are able to see the world anew. We are able to see that we are totally immersed in Love. We remember that we are safe, we are innocent, are loved, we are at Home in God’s Love.

Valuing Our Connection with Holy Spirit

Your Self retains Its Thoughts, and they remain within your mind and in the Mind of God. The Holy Spirit holds salvation in your mind, and offers it the way to peace. Salvation is a thought you share with God, because His Voice accepted it for you and answered in your name that it was done. Thus is salvation kept among the Thoughts your Self holds dear and cherishes for you.

We will attempt today to find this thought, whose presence in your mind is guaranteed by Him Who speaks to you from your one Self. Our hourly five-minute practicing will be a search for Him within your mind. Salvation comes from this one Self through Him Who is the Bridge between your mind and It. Wait patiently, and let Him speak to you about your Self, and what your mind can do, restored to It and free to serve Its Will.

Begin with saying this:

Salvation comes from my one Self. Its Thoughts are mine to use.

Then seek Its Thoughts, and claim them as your own. These are your own real thoughts you have denied, and let your mind go wandering in a world of dreams, to find illusions in their place. Here are your thoughts, the only ones you have. Salvation is among them; find it there. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 96, W-pI.96.7-9. See also ACIM Lesson 96 Insights.)

Today we dedicate to listening to the Holy Spirit… We dedicate today to receiving and extending Holy Spirit’s peace… We focus on letting ourselves be guided throughout the day…

We let the Holy Spirit bring us inspiration… We come back throughout the day and listen, giving Holy Spirit time in quiet listening… We let ourselves feel Holy Spirit’s gratitude for our continuous joining throughout the day…

We feel so grateful that we have a constant Companion Who is dedicated to helping us every step of the day as we go through each day… We value this connection above all else.

The Gift of Union

The holy instant is truly the time of Christ. For in this liberating instant no guilt is laid upon the Son of God, and his unlimited power is thus restored to him. What other gift can you offer me, when only this [union] I choose to offer you? And to see me is to see me in everyone, and offer everyone the gift [of union] you offer me.

We who are one [in the Christ Mind] cannot give separately. When you are willing to accept our relationship [oneness] as real, guilt will hold no attraction for you. For in our union you will accept all of our brothers. The gift of union is the only gift that I was born to give. Give [union] to me, that you may have it. The time of Christ is the time appointed for the gift of freedom, offered to everyone. And by your acceptance of [freedom/union], you have offered it to everyone. Freedom is the gift of union. If we want to be free of the ego’s imprisoning thought system, we need to forgive and see our unity with God and all our brothers.

We are here to reverse our thoughts of separation and join with the Holy Spirit’s recognition of our union. In truth we are one Light; there is no distance between us. We are one Love in the one Mind of Love. As we are willing to join with the reality of our union instead of separation, we find our freedom and help free every brother along with us.

The gift of union is the only gift we want to receive from the Holy Spirit and give to every brother. This returns us to the holy instant — the time of Christ. Instead of experiencing the fear, guilt and hate found in the ego’s thought system, we return to the peace, joy and Love found in the Truth of our union with God.

Today we focus on the reality of our union in God’s Love.

Seeing Love Everywhere

Let us resolve today to ask for what we really want, and only this, that we may spend this day in fearlessness, without confusing pain with joy, or fear with love.

Father, this is Your day. It is a day in which I would do nothing by myself, but hear Your Voice in everything I do; requesting only what You offer me, accepting only Thoughts You share with me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 339, W-pII.339.1:9-2:2. See also ACIM Lesson 339 Insights.)

God has given us His Voice to bring His Thoughts to our confused and distressed minds. We have believed in a false idea that has made us unable to distinguish between illusion and truth. But we can count on God’s Voice to show us what is true and pure if we are willing to listen.

Today we dedicate to listening, for it is our heart’s desire to remember the truth and see the Love of God everywhere.

Accepting the Healing of our Mind

Healing and Atonement are not related; they are identical. There is no order of difficulty in miracles because there are no degrees of Atonement. It is the one complete concept possible in this world, because it is the source of a wholly unified perception. Partial Atonement is a meaningless idea, just as special areas of hell in Heaven are inconceivable. Accept Atonement and you are healed. Atonement is the Word of God. Accept His Word and what remains to make sickness possible? Accept His Word and every miracle has been accomplished. To forgive is to heal. The teacher of God has taken accepting the Atonement for himself as his only function.

He overlooks the [ego] mind and body, seeing only the face of Christ shining in front of him, correcting all mistakes and healing all perception.

No longer does he stand apart from God, determining where healing should be given and where it should be withheld. Now can he say with God, ‘This is my beloved Son, created perfect and forever so.’ (A Course in Miracles, M-22.1:1-10;4:5;7:9-10)

To accept Atonement for ourselves means letting go of all unforgiving thoughts. An unforgiving thought is a thought that denies our oneness with God’s Love. Any thought of judgment of ourselves or our brothers is an unforgiving thought. Believing we are a body is an unforgiving thought. Believing any form is real is an unforgiving thought because Love is formless. What is one can have no distinguishing form that separates it from all that is. There is nothing outside the oneness of Love, since only Love is real.

Each time we bring an unforgiving thought to the Holy Spirit and accept His gentle correction, we take another step toward the Atonement. When we are able to see past form to the face of Christ, the face of innocence, we move toward full acceptance of the Atonement. As we practice letting Holy Spirit guide all our thoughts, our days become steps toward full acceptance of the Atonement and the healing of our minds. This is our practice today.
