Reflections

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Peace cannot be found in the past or future. Now is the closest approximation to eternity in this world. Peace is a condition of eternity and so peace is a condition of the eternal now.

Be mindful of your state of peace today. If you notice you are not in peace, if you are hurried or disturbed in any way, step back. Breathe deeply and open to the Holy Spirit’s gentle gift of peace. Take the time you need to accept the gift.

In peace, it will be clear to you in the now moment how to perceive the present circumstance in the world and how to respond in a way that reflects the Love and peace of God. Through this practice you will learn to recognize the true meaning beyond all appearances of form and you will learn to extend Love’s reflection in the world. May this be a day of happy reflections.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Remember that your only goal is to wake up from the dream of separation. God is your Source and you remain as He created you. As the Light of God, you have within you to see only the truth. You have it within you to see the Love beyond the forms of individuality.

Let that Source bring the truth to your mind. Returning to the truth is your only goal. When you are willing to remember What and Where you are in truth, you will extend Love and nothing else. You will see Love and nothing else. If you see something else, step back and let your mind be healed by the Holy Spirit.

Healing Responses

Robert:
Yesterday’s reminder to laugh was helpful. We decided it was time to get a fax machine. I went and bought an all-in-one machine. Got it home, set it up and discovered it didn’t have a fax feature. As in everything in the ego world, “all” means different things to different people. LOL. Before leaving to return it, I set the phone to call forward to our cell. Got the machine returned and found what we needed for a good price at Sam’s Club. Got back and discovered call forwarding hadn’t worked. I had forgotten to start with *72. LOL. It was much nicer to laugh than have a grievance. 

When I hold on to grievances, I distract myself with thoughts of the past. When I focus on the past, I’m unaware of the present and thus unaware of Love. I am also not aware of the present in the world and so I miss details like *72 which set up situations that further add to distraction and lack of peace. Remembering to laugh is a quick way to release attention on the past to move on in the joyous present. Today I am willing to be open to the joy of now.

Mary:
As I go to Spirit for insight this morning, I am encouraged to frequently ask this question today: Right now, what am I and where am I in truth? When I do remember to ask this, I am reminded that I am Love and am still joined in the Mind of Love.

Remembering this takes a load off my shoulders. It helps to end the struggle that invariably comes with believing in the world. In truth I have never left Heaven. In truth everyone is there with me and has never left.

Remembering this truth helps me laugh at the ego’s crazy antics and lift the load I place on my shoulders when I get caught up in the dream. Asking what am I and where am I in truth and remembering to laugh are healing responses for when I forget and take the dream seriously.

Relax and Laugh

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Relax and know that you are safe… Trust and follow… Accept the peace that is yours… Extend the peace you receive to everyone around you and everyone you think of…

Allow yourself to overlook the dream to see the Love That is everywhere… You are still in the Mind of God and have never left. Let yourself rest in God’s Love… Let yourself awaken to the truth that you are God’s Love. Let yourself feel God’s happiness and joy. This is your practice for today.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Remember to laugh. Remember to laugh when you notice yourself trying to make plans for your safety or comfort. Remember to laugh when you recognize you are not at peace. Remember to laugh when some event does not occur as you would like. Remember to laugh when a circumstance does not seem to be to your liking.

As you learn to not take seriously the wild antics of the insanity of the ego, you prepare yourself to let go and welcome the your true Self’s sanity. Your true Self knows none of those seeming disturbances have any effect at all on the truth of What you are. Your true Self knows you are eternally safe. Your true Self knows you have everything you need. Your true Self knows that you are eternally at Home in the quiet joy of Love. Let today be a day of happy laughter.

Choosing Peace

Mary:
In our reading A Course in Miracles this morning, what stood out to me was, “Let us ascend in peace together to the Father, by giving Him ascendance in our minds.” (T-17.IV.16:2)

I give ascendance in my mind through my willingness to be mindful of where my thoughts are and by choosing peace instead of conflict. I give Him ascendance by accepting His happiness and joy. I give Him ascendance by not judging the meaning of anything on my own. I give Him ascendance by stepping back and willingly following as I am guided. It is my opportunity today to practice giving Him ascendance in my mind.

Robert:
In this same section, “The Two Pictures,” we read, “God established His relationship with you to make you happy, and nothing you do that does not share His purpose can be real.” (T-17.IV.1:1)

It’s comforting and encouraging to be reminded that all God wants for us is that we be happy. Because happiness is His Will, it is a gift already given and ours eternally. The world I experience with the body is the effect of wanting something other than God’s gift of perfect happiness. I don’t have to look very far to see that what I have really done is deny the gift of happiness. There are images of pain and suffering, loss and deprivation everywhere. But this section in the Course makes it perfectly clear that these images are just that — images. They are not real.

Each time I respond to any circumstance or image with anything other than peace, I am being shown that I am believing that a false image is real. The lack of peace is a gift, for it shows me that I need to redirect my attention. I do this by offering the image and my interpretation to the Holy Spirit, my God Self, to be cleansed of the false meaning so that I can be shown the truth that the image was made to hide.

Today I dedicate once again to letting the Holy Spirit be my interpreter.

Let Go of False Images

Mary:
This is my practice today:
I open my mind to remembering that we are united as the one Son of God, one extension of Love’s eternal presence. We are one. We are innocent because nothing has happened to change God’s Son. Nothing has happened to change the Love we all are eternally.

I open my mind to the Light of God today. I let it cleanse away all that is not true. I let my mind be healed today. I don’t take the world so seriously. I let the Holy Spirit remind me that it is just a dream and could never be real. I let the Holy Spirit remind me that only the Source of Love that I am is real.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
It is helpful to remember that everything the body’s eyes show you is just an image that has nothing to do with What you are. These images do reflect what you believe you are. But belief is a substitute for the certainty of truth. When you believe you are separate from the oneness of Love, the images reflected back to you confirm your separation. They do not make separation real but they do make separation appear real because you believe in them. You believe in these images because you projected them. They are not really “out there.” These images are in your mind. This is good news because you are always free to change your mind.

Remind yourself today that what you see through the body’s eyes has nothing to do with What you are in truth. You are eternal Spirit, changeless and unchangeable. You are Love and nothing else. Remind yourself of this throughout the day and you will greatly advance the process of letting go of the false image you have made of yourself so that What you truly are can return to your awareness. Happy practicing!

Willing to Return to Love

Robert:
As I go through the day, it is helpful to remember that everything the body’s eyes show me is just an image portraying the thought system of separation. The image cannot be real because separation cannot be real. The images are put there by the mind that believes separation is real to give the appearance of reality. The moment I withdraw my belief that separation is real, the images will cease to have meaning and will fade in the presence of real meaning — Love.

Today I would embrace the Love that is everywhere. I do this by letting the Holy Spirit, my God Self, judge all appearances on my behalf. His judgment is always simple: It’s real (Love) or it’s nothing. I am willing to be taught what is nothing so that I can experience what is everything, I can experience Love.

Mary:
Am I willing to accept the truth today? Am I willing to experience Love’s presence? Am I willing to move past the dream of separate bodies and accept the truth? Returning to accept the truth today is all the world is for.

Being willing to return to Love is now the purpose of everything I want. This is my opportunity today: To accept the truth that only Love is real and all the rest that appears to be real is really nothing.

Nothing has really happened to change God’s one Son. We all are really Love and nothing else. Letting go of the false stories is how the truth returns to my mind. Opening to the peace and insight that comes from my one true Self is the only way I can awaken to the truth. This is what today is for, and I give thanks.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Help

Robert:
I have lots of questions, most of which are about the future and what I should do to be prepared for it. Clearly these are ego based questions, yet it seems like it would really be helpful if I just had a hint. It’s like saying to the Holy Spirit, “Just throw me a scrap of information. I’ll take whatever you can give.” The problem is if Holy Spirit gave me that “scrap,” the ego would take that scrap and build an involved story around it to serve its purpose, which is always to reinforce the sense of separation. This is not what I really want. I really want the peace of God.

Now I bring this concern and insecurity about the future to the Holy Spirit. I lay it before Him and step back. What I laid before Him seemed like dark shadows, all tangled up like tangled fishing line. The Holy Spirit shines His Light on this tangled pile and it begins to fade. As it fades, I feel myself becoming more peaceful. There is no attempt to unravel the tangle because the tangle does not matter, being unreal. In the Light of truth, the tangle simply fades away.

I absorb the freedom and peace that flows through me now that the tangle is gone. I feel in my heart the certainty of the ever present Love that is my Self. I rest in that certainty… I know that there is nothing else I need. I know that even though the body’s eyes show me a world of forms and time, I can never be without Love. I can never be without everything I need.

The Holy Spirit walks with me in every moment and He reflects the eternal presence of Love to me in the form that will help me learn to recognize It in myself and everyone. This is all I really want. I am grateful that the Holy Spirit recognizes what will truly help me and offers it in every moment.

Today is another opportunity to practice laying all my questions, my concerns, my fears, my doubts, before the Light of truth. I am willing to let the Light of truth reveal what I truly want and need. Thus will I remember Love’s blessing.

Mary:
A Course in Miracles reminds me that there is only one problem and that is belief in a world of separate bodies. It also tells us that there is only one solution and that is forgiveness, which is letting go of that false belief in a world of separate bodies. So my only problem is believing in what my body’s eyes show me. My real job today is to let go, or forgive, trying to replace God’s oneness with images of separation.

The only way I can do this is to be humble and remember that everything I see in the world is false perception. It is only the Holy Spirit That can bring me true perception as I allow peace to return to my mind. True perception comes with it. It is the Holy Spirit That lifts the veil so that I can see that only Love is real.

When I think I have a problem. let me remember today that the only problem is holding on to belief in separation and the only solution is being willing to hand every perception over to the Holy Spirit to be undone. That is why it is so important that I remember that I know nothing on my own. That is why it is so important to let go of all I have valued before. The Holy Spirit’s values lead me out of this world and into the real world where only Love is real.

Am I willing to be truly humble today and remember that on my own I know nothing? This is my opportunity today to practice opening my mind to receive Holy Spirit’s peace. And with Holy Spirit’s peace comes true understanding of the difference between the real and the unreal. Love is. God is. There is nothing else. Here I find certainty. Here I find peace. Hallelujah!
