Seeing Love’s Reflection in Our World

I will be still an instant and go home.

This world you seem to live in is not home to you. ²And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true.

We speak today for everyone who walks this world, for he is not at home. ²He goes uncertainly about in endless search, seeking in darkness what he cannot find; not recognizing what it is he seeks. ³A thousand homes he makes, yet none contents his restless mind. ⁴He does not understand he builds in vain. ⁵The home he seeks can not be made by him. ⁶There is no substitute for Heaven. ⁷All he ever made was hell.

…there is a Child in you Who seeks His Father’s house, and knows that He is alien here. ⁴This childhood is eternal, with an innocence that will endure forever. ⁵Where this Child shall go is holy ground. ⁶It is His Holiness that lights up Heaven, and that brings to earth the pure reflection of the light above, wherein are earth and Heaven joined as one.

It is this Child in you your Father knows as His Own Son. (A Course in Miracles, W-182.1:1-2;3;4:3–5:1. See also ACIM Lesson 182 Insights.)

The world we see represents our wish for specialness. It seems to give us what our Father cannot give because He can only give all of His Himself equally to all. There are no differences in the universe of His Love.

This universe of Love is our true Home. We were created as an extension of Love without limit. Our true function is to participate in this eternal giving and receiving of God’s Love. As we forgive the wish for specialness, we open our hearts to let Love be reflected in the world we see. We see the Love that is our brother, reflecting back to us the vision of the Love we are. We walk together in peace and gratitude.

Accepting Our True Identity as Love

⁵God would not have Heaven incomplete. ⁶It waits for you, as I do. ⁷I am incomplete without your part in me. ⁸And as I am made whole we go together to our ancient home, prepared for us before time was and kept unchanged by time, immaculate and safe, as it will be at last when time is done.

²For this alone I need; that you will hear the words I speak, and give them to the world. ³You are my voice, my eyes, my feet, my hands through which I save the world. ⁴The Self from which I call to you is but your own. ⁵To Him we go together. ⁶Take your brother’s hand, for this is not a way we walk alone. ⁷In him I walk with you, and you with me. ⁸Our Father wills His Son be one with Him. ⁹What lives but must not then be one with you?

⁵You are His Son, completing His extension in your own. ⁶We practice but an ancient truth we knew before illusion seemed to claim the world. ⁷And we remind the world that it is free of all illusions every time we say:

⁸God is but Love, and therefore so am I. (W-rV.in.8:5-8;9:2-9;10:5-8)

The Course is teaching us about our true Identity. It is time to stop our games of make believe in which we claim a false identity and act as if it were real. It is time to remember that we are Love and nothing else. That means we must also see everyone as Love, for Love excludes no one.

Our function now is let go of our games of differences which compete for attention and blind us to the Light of Love that unites us with our Father. As we accept our Identity as Love, we take our brother’s hand to bring him with us into the Heaven of our Father’s Love.

Resting in the Certainty of Love

…watch your mind and see… the senseless world you think is real. ⁶Review the thoughts as well which are compatible with such a world, and which you think are true. ⁷Then let them go, and sink below them to the holy place where they can enter not. ⁸There is a door beneath them in your mind, which you could not completely lock to hide what lies beyond.

Put out your hand, and see how easily the door swings open with your one intent to go beyond it. ²Angels light the way, so that all darkness vanishes, and you are standing in a light so bright and clear that you can understand all things you see. …the world you see before you in the light reflects the truth you knew, and did not quite forget in wandering away in dreams.

You cannot fail today. ²There walks with you the Spirit Heaven sent you, that you might approach this door some day, and through His aid slip effortlessly past it, to the light. ³Today that day has come. (A Course in Miracles, W-131.11:5-8;13:1-3;14:1-3. See also ACIM Lesson 131 Insights.)

In every instant we decide what we want to be the truth. If we want separation and specialness, we see a world of differences and conflict. Because we want it, we believe what we see is true.

But if we want only the truth of Love’s oneness, Its Light will shine brightly in our mind, it will show us Love’s reflection everywhere. We will feel its comfort and know our safety in Love’s changelessness. Our hearts will overflow with joy and gratitude as we join in the eternal flow of Love to Itself. We will rest in the certainty of Love.

Letting Go of Mistaken Values

My home awaits me. I will hasten there.

If I so choose, I can depart this world entirely. ²It is not death which makes this possible, but it is change of mind about the purpose of the world. ³If I believe it has a value as I see it now, so will it still remain for me. ⁴But if I see no value in the world as I behold it, nothing that I want to keep as mine or search for as a goal, it will depart from me. ⁵For I have not sought for illusions to replace the truth.

Father, my home awaits my glad return. ²Your Arms are open and I hear Your Voice. ³What need have I to linger in a place of vain desires and of shattered dreams, when Heaven can so easily be mine? (W-226)

Because of our wish for specialness, we have taught ourselves to value differences. But perception of differences blinds us to the vision of Love’s oneness. Love is always present, welcoming us with open Arms.

To know the comfort offered us by our Father’s Love, we need to let go of the value we have given to the forms of this world. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us forgive our mistaken values. We want to return home to the safety, joy and Love of our Creator.

Our Innate Desire to Be Loved and Loving

³Our emphasis is not on giving up the world, but on exchanging it for what is far more satisfying, filled with joy, and capable of offering you peace.

Is it a loss to find a world instead where losing is impossible; where love endures forever, hate cannot exist and vengeance has no meaning? ²Is it loss to find all things you really want, and know they have no ending and they will remain exactly as you want them throughout time?

⁴Value [little things] not, and they will disappear. ⁵Esteem them, and they will seem real to you.

Such is the choice. ²What loss can be for you in choosing not to value nothingness? ³This world holds nothing that you really want, but what you choose instead you want indeed! ⁴Let it be given you today. ⁵It waits but for your choosing it, to take the place of all the things you seek but do not want.

³Beyond this world there is a world I want. ⁴I choose to see that world instead of this, for here is nothing that I really want. (W-129.1:3;3:1-2;5:4–6:5;7:3-4)

Children beg for toys they think will make them happy. But as they mature, they lose interest in the toys that once seemed so important. They have lost the meaning the childish wish gave them.

The ego is like the little child, wishing for forms that it believes will make it happy. But these forms have no meaning on their own. They only serve to block our awareness of the universe of Love in which we live. They never satisfy our innate desire to be loved and loving. Today we ask for help to let Christ’s vision show us the real world of eternal Love that is our natural Home.

Remembering What We Really Want

³The only purpose worthy of your mind this world contains is that you pass it by…

Pause and be still a little while, and see how far you rise above the world, when you release your mind from chains and let it seek the level where it finds itself at home. ²It will be grateful to be free a while. ³It knows where it belongs. ⁴But free its wings, and it will fly in sureness and in joy to join its holy purpose. ⁵Let it rest in its Creator, there to be restored to sanity, to freedom and to love.

Give it ten minutes rest three times today. ²And when your eyes are opened afterwards, you will not value anything you see as much as when you looked at it before. ³Your whole perspective on the world will shift by just a little, every time you let your mind escape its chains. ⁴The world is not where it belongs. ⁵And you belong where it would be, and where it goes to rest when you release it from the world. ⁶Your Guide is sure. ⁷Open your mind to Him. ⁸Be still and rest.

Protect your mind throughout the day as well. ²And when you think you see some value in an aspect or an image of the world, refuse to lay this chain upon your mind, but tell yourself with quiet certainty:

³This will not tempt me to delay myself.
⁴The world I see holds nothing that I want. (W-128.2:3;6:1–8:4)

The world seems real to us because we want separation to be real. Its seeming reality offers us special status. We stand alone upon our hill of differences that sets us apart from all others. We plant our flag on our uniqueness at the cost of peace, forced to defend the hill we have made.

Our true Self sees no value in this dream of differences. Our real value lies in our unity with our Creator. All His peace, His joy, His Love He shares with us. Today we remind ourselves, “The world I see holds nothing that I want.”

Gratitude for Gentle Waking

Light and joy and peace abide in me.

²I am the home of light and joy and peace. ³I welcome them into the home I share with God, because I am a part of Him.

I am as God created me.

²I will remain forever as I was, created by the Changeless like Himself. ³And I am one with Him, and He with me. (A Course in Miracles, W-112. See also ACIM Lesson 112 Insights.)

As God’s one Son, we were created as an extension of His light, joy and peace. This is our only Reality. God is changeless, so His extension is changeless.

Dreams portray illusions which are experienced as real. We react to our dreams as if they are real. But upon waking, we see that our dreams had no effect on Reality. Today we walk in gratitude for the Holy Spirit in our mind Whom we can trust to gently waken us the light, joy and peace that is our true Identity.
