Love — the Only Real Gift We Can Give

You can encounter only part of yourself because you are part of God, Who is everything. ²His power and glory are everywhere, and you cannot be excluded from them. ³The ego teaches that your strength is in you alone. ⁴The Holy Spirit teaches that all strength is in God and therefore in you. ⁵God wills no one suffer. ⁶He does not will anyone to suffer for a wrong decision, including you. ⁷That is why He has given you the means for undoing it. ⁸Through His power and glory all your wrong decisions are undone completely, releasing you and your brother from every imprisoning thought any part of the Sonship holds. ⁹Wrong decisions have no power, because they are not true. ¹⁰The imprisonment they seem to produce is no more true than they are.

Power and glory belong to God alone. ²So do you. ³God gives whatever belongs to Him because He gives of Himself, and everything belongs to Him. ⁴Giving of yourself is the function He gave you. ⁵Fulfilling it perfectly will let you remember what you have of Him, and by this you will remember also what you are in Him. ⁶You cannot be powerless to do this, because this is your power. ⁷Glory is God’s gift to you, because that is what He is. ⁸See this glory everywhere to remember what you are. To give of ourselves is to give only Love, because That is what we are. Love is the only real gift we can give.

The ego does not know what Love is and cannot give It. The ego can only offer forms that seem bring happiness or pleasure, but they have one key feature that demonstrates their unreality—they do not last.

Love is God’s gift to His Son. It is the gift of all of Himself. There is nothing else to give. Today we remind ourselves that we are God’s Son, forever united with all His creation. We have and are all of His Love. We rest in His peace.

Resting in the Love of God

Take pity on yourself, so long enslaved. ²Rejoice whom God hath joined have come together and need no longer look on sin apart. ³No two can look on sin together, for they could never see it in the same place and time. ⁴Sin is a strictly individual perception, seen in the other yet believed by each to be within himself. ⁵And each one seems to make a different error, and one the other cannot understand.

Who has need for sin? ²Only the lonely and alone, who see their brothers different from themselves. ³It is this difference, seen but not real, that makes the need for sin, not real but seen, seem justified. ⁴And all this would be real if sin were so. ⁵For an unholy relationship is based on differences, where each one thinks the other has what he has not.

A holy relationship starts from a different premise. ²Each one has looked within and seen no lack. ³Accepting his completion, he would extend it by joining with another, whole as himself. ⁴He sees no difference between these selves, for differences are only of the body.

Think what a holy relationship can teach! ²Here is belief in differences undone. ³Here is the faith in differences shifted to sameness. ⁴And here is sight of differences transformed to vision. …⁶It must extend, as you extended when you and he joined. ⁷It must reach out beyond itself, as you reached out beyond the body, to let you and your brother be joined. ⁸And now the sameness that you saw extends and finally removes all sense of differences, so that the sameness that lies beneath them all becomes apparent. The key to finding peace of mind is accepting the Love that unites us with everyone and every thing. In this unity there are no differences, no forms, no loss, no conquests, no defeats. Love is universally the same throughout. It is complete and whole, with nothing to gain nor lose. It is the Heaven that is our Home.

Today we choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to look past our judgments to see the Love that joins us with every brother. With His help we will dismiss appearances of differences and rest in the Love of God together.

Welcoming Love to Dispel Dreams of Fear

If you are blessed and do not know it, you need to learn it must be so. ²The knowledge is not taught, but its conditions must be acquired for it is they that have been thrown away. ³You can learn to bless, and cannot give what you have not. ⁴If, then, you offer blessing, it must have come first to yourself. ⁵And you must also have accepted it as yours, for how else could you give it away? ⁶That is why miracles offer you the testimony that you are blessed. ⁷If what you offer is complete forgiveness you must have let guilt go, accepting the Atonement for yourself and learning you are guiltless.

Indirect proof of truth is needed in a world made of denial and without direction. ²You will perceive the need for this if you realize that to deny is the decision not to know. ³The logic of the world must therefore lead to nothing, for its goal is nothing. ⁴If you decide to have and give and be nothing except a dream, you must direct your thoughts unto oblivion. ⁵And if you have and give and are everything [Love], and all this has been denied, your thought system is closed off and wholly separated from the truth. ⁶This is an insane world, and do not underestimate the extent of its insanity. ⁷There is no area of your perception that it has not touched, and your dream is sacred to you. ⁸That is why God placed the Holy Spirit in you, where you placed the dream.

⁶They [dreams] will not be taken from him. ⁷But they can be given up by_ him, for the Source of their undoing is in him. ⁸There is nothing in the world to teach him that the logic of the world is totally insane and leads to nothing. ⁹Yet in him who made this insane logic there is One [Holy Spirit] Who knows it leads to nothing, for He knows everything. Perception can only occur when separation is accepted as true. The perceiver believes he is separate and different from what he perceives. Thus perception is central to maintaining the ego’s place in our mind.

True knowledge is an experience of oneness. It is full acceptance of unity with God’s Love. This knowing is beyond the realm of dreams. Yet in our mind the Holy Spirit provides a bridge to lead us out of our dreams of limitation and differences. He is our inner Teacher Whose function is to help us see past the dreams of conflicting perceptions to welcome the gift of God’s Love. As we accept His gift we bring Love’s blessing to the world. We become messengers of Love.

Accepting Christ as Our One Self

²I am as God created me. ³His Son can suffer nothing. ⁴And I am His Son

⁴Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledgment as you. ⁵And you are lost and do not know yourself while He is unacknowledged and unknown.

Seek Him today, and find Him. ²He will be your Savior from all idols you have made. ³For when you find Him, you will understand how worthless are your idols, and how false the images which you believed were you. ⁴Today we make a great advance to truth by letting idols go, and opening our hands and hearts and minds to God today.

We will remember Him throughout the day with thankful hearts and loving thoughts for all who meet with us today. ²For it is thus that we remember Him. ³And we will say, that we may be reminded of His Son, our holy Self, the Christ in each of us:

⁴I am as God created me.

⁵Let us declare this truth as often as we can. ⁶This is the Word of God that sets you free. ⁷This is the key that opens up the gate of Heaven, and that lets you enter in the peace of God and His eternity. (A Course in Miracles, W-110.6:2-4;9:4–11:7. See also ACIM Lesson 110 Insights.)

Forgiveness is the key to finding Christ within. He is ever-present. Only our wish for a special, unique identity blocks Christ’s presence from our awareness. Christ is our one true Identity, which is shared equally with all.

Today we practice letting the Holy Spirit show us the radiant Light of Christ in everyone we see or think of. With His help we will see past the images we have conjured, recognizing them as unreal. As we see the Christ in others, we will know Him as our one Self, united with our Creator. We remember the blessing our Father gave us by creating us as one with Himself.

Remembering Our Unity with Our Father’s Love

Here [your brother] is your savior from your specialness. ²He is in need of your acceptance of himself as part of you, as you for his. ³You are alike to God as God is to Himself. ⁴He is not special, for He would not keep one part of what He is unto Himself, not given to His Son but kept for Him alone. ⁵And it is this you fear, for if He is not special, then He willed His Son to be like Him, and your brother is like you. ⁶Not special, but possessed of everything, including you. ⁷Give him but what he has, remembering God gave Himself to you and your brother in equal love, that both might share the universe with Him Who chose that love could never be divided, and kept separate from what it is and must forever be.

The key you threw away God gave your brother, whose holy hands would offer it to you when you were ready to accept His plan for your salvation in the place of yours. ²How could this readiness be reached save through the sight of all your misery, and the awareness that your plan has failed, and will forever fail to bring you peace and joy of any kind? ³Through this despair you travel now, yet it is but illusion of despair. ⁴The death of specialness is not your death, but your awaking into life eternal. ⁵You but emerge from an illusion of what you are to the acceptance of yourself as God created you. What if we recognized every brother as our savior? Would we not welcome his help with open arms and deep appreciation? Everyone in our life experience is a reflection of what we believe about ourselves. If we see their true Self, we will share in their happiness and peace. But if they seem to disturb our peace, they are showing us our own call to remember we are Love and nothing else. If our response to this call is to offer them Love, it is a gift we give to ourselves.

Today we ask to Holy Spirit to help us see our brothers truly so that we can remember we are joined with every brother in the oneness of our Father’s Love.

Accepting the Love That Created Us

There are not different kinds of life, for life is like the truth. ²It does not have degrees. ³It is the one condition in which all that God created share. ⁴Like all His Thoughts, it has no opposite. ⁵There is no death because what God created shares His life. ⁶There is no death because an opposite to God does not exist. ⁷There is no death because the Father and the Son are one.

Death is the thought that you are separate from your Creator. ²It is the belief conditions change, emotions alternate because of causes you cannot control, you did not make, and you can never change. ³[Death] is the fixed belief ideas can leave their source, and take on qualities the source does not contain, becoming different from their own origin, apart from it in kind as well as distance, time and form.

His holy home we strive to keep today as He established it, and wills it be forever and forever. ²He is Lord of what we think today. ³And in His Thoughts, which have no opposite, we understand there is one life, and that we share with Him…

We share one life because we have one Source, a Source from which perfection comes to us, remaining always in the holy minds which He created perfect. ²As we were, so are we now and will forever be. (A Course in Miracles, W-167.1;4;11:1-3;12:1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 167 Insights.)

It is good news that our true Self remains as our Father created It. He shares His Life with all His creation eternally. It guarantees that our true Identity as His Son can never die. We are eternally safe in His Love.

Today we practice forgiving our perceptions of differences which blind us to the reality of the Identity we share with God. Our heart’s singular desire is to accept the Love that created us by extending Love to all without limit.

Bringing God’s Peace to the World

You rest within the peace of God today, and call upon your brothers from your rest to draw them to their rest, along with you. ²You will be faithful to your trust today, forgetting no one, bringing everyone into the boundless circle of your peace, the holy sanctuary where you rest. ³Open the temple doors and let them come from far across the world, and near as well; your distant brothers and your closest friends; bid them all enter here and rest with you.

You rest within the peace of God today, quiet and unafraid. ²Each brother comes to take his rest, and offer it to you. ³We rest together here, for thus our rest is made complete, and what we give today we have received already. ⁴Time is not the guardian of what we give today. ⁵We give to those unborn and those passed by, to every Thought of God, and to the Mind in which these Thoughts were born and where they rest. ⁶And we remind them of their resting place each time we tell ourselves, “I rest in God. The universal Love of God is eternally one and the same throughout. To rest within God’s peace, we must forgive all our perceptions of differences. As we learn to recognize every brother as one with us in the Self that is God’s Son, we become givers of gifts of happiness and peace. We are certain of our safety and know that all our needs are met. We remind ourselves that this is so each time we affirm “I rest in God.”
