Accepting Peace of Mind

Today let us make accepting peace of mind our highest priority. This means accepting Holy Spirit’s true perception regarding every circumstance. True perception is there waiting for us every moment of the day.

Today we practice with vigilance opening to Holy Spirit’s true perception again and again. We are frequently willing to take little “timeouts” from our busy day and just bathe in the peaceful waters of true perception… taking these little timeouts helps us ‘lighten up’ and returns us to our natural state of happiness and inner peace… What we need to know is brought to our awareness… Remembering that kindness, gentleness and that we are all Love shows us the pathway Home.

We let today be a day of pure joy as we accept Holy Spirit’s eternal peace of mind.

Sharing Perception with the Holy Spirit

Joining with [Holy Spirit] in seeing is the way in which you learn to share with Him the interpretation of perception that leads to knowledge. You cannot see alone. Sharing perception with Him Whom God has given you teaches you how to recognize what you see. It is the recognition that nothing you see means anything alone. …God has one purpose which He shares with you. The single vision which the Holy Spirit offers you will bring this oneness to your mind with clarity and brightness so intense you could not wish, for all the world, not to accept what God would have you have. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.VII.7:1-4,6-7)

Today let us remember that we have our constant Holy Companion in our mind, waiting to share His perception with us. We join with Holy Spirit all through the day, receiving His calm and loving vision of Christ. We are willing to accept His interpretation of everything we think of or look upon.

We relax and let the Holy Spirit carry us through the day… We let ourselves feel His peace and contentment… We let the Holy Spirit help us see past differences to the truth of Love’s oneness… We are filled with gratitude to have such a wonderful Helper and Friend to guide us through all the circumstances we encounter each day.

Accepting All Encompassing Oneness

…separation is the source of guilt, and to appeal to [separation] for salvation is to believe you are alone. To be alone is to be guilty. For to experience yourself as alone is to deny the Oneness of the Father and His Son, and thus to attack reality. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.V.2:5-7)

To want to have a unique identity with private thoughts we would keep as our own is to want separation. To want separation is to want guilt. Guilt is attractive because it reinforces the isolation of separation. It is the principal means the ego uses to hold belief in separation in place in our minds.

While we choose to maintain a separate identity, we cannot experience Love’s oneness. We cannot experience peace. We cannot experience the joy of God. Thankfully we have the means in our mind to step away from the mistaken idea that separation offers us anything of value.

As we practice being vigilant for every thought of littleness, of uniqueness, of separation, and bringing those thoughts with an open mind to the Holy Spirit, His Light will shine away the false ideas and reveal the all encompassing oneness of God’s Love. This practice is the practice of forgiveness. It is how we accept all encompassing Oneness.

We Are Perfectly Safe Forever

The only safety lies in extending the Holy Spirit, because as you see His gentleness in others your own mind perceives itself as totally harmless. Once [your mind] can accept this fully, it sees no need to protect itself. The protection of God then dawns upon [your mind], assuring it that it is perfectly safe forever. The perfectly safe are wholly benign. They bless because they know that they are blessed. Without anxiety the mind is wholly kind, and because it extends beneficence it is beneficent. Safety is the complete relinquishment of attack. (A Course in Miracles, T-6.III.3:1-7)

As we make seeing through the eyes of the Holy Spirit our highest priority, we find the truth about ourselves and everyone… We see past the ego’s thought forms of separation… We find the beneficent Light of the Holy Spirit within our own minds…

In time we learn to give this inner Light more and more of our full attention… We open to the Holy Spirit’s Thoughts and see as He sees… We step back and let the Holy Spirit lead the way… We let our minds quiet to receive the Love of our true Identity… As we identify with the Love within us, we naturally extend it because that is Love’s nature…

We experience Love’s eternal safety… We know that everyone is eternally safe in the Mind of Love… We know that this can never change. As we remember the changelessness of Love, we know that we are invulnerable. We know that we are perfectly safe forever.

In Truth We Are God’s Will, Extended and Extending

Father, I thought I wandered from Your Will, defied it, broke its laws, and interposed a second will more powerful than Yours. Yet what I am in truth is but Your Will, extended and extending. This am I, and this will never change. As You are One, so am I one with You. And this I chose in my creation, where my will became forever one with Yours. That choice was made for all eternity. It cannot change, and be in opposition to itself. Father, my will is Yours. And I am safe, untroubled and serene, in endless joy, because it is Your Will that it be so. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.329.1)

Since God is Love and nothing else, it’s good news that God’s Will is our will. It means that our will is to be Love and extend Love and nothing else. All we really need to do is to stop trying not to be our Self. The world we see is a denial of our Self because it is a world that denies Love. Separation and Love are mutually exclusive, because Love is one. Being one, there are no differences in Love — no forms, no greater and lesser, no lack nor loss.

Because Love is one and changeless, we are absolutely safe in Love. We are always wholly immersed in the eternal giving and receiving of Love. When we believe what the body’s eyes show us, it seems that we are anything but immersed in Love. That loveless world is what the body and the body’s eyes were made to show us. It is a self deception and could never be true. In truth, we are God’s Will, we are God’s Love, extended and extending.

Finding Our Self Through Honesty

Today we focus on being honest with ourselves. When we recognize thoughts of separation in any of their myriad forms, we turn them over to our True Self for help to see past the appearances to the truth of Love’s oneness. We are willing to give up our self deception and welcome the truth of our Self.

This is how we undo the dream of separation and return to the experience of our Home in Love. This is how we undo the dream and return to the reality of Love. As we accept this gentle correction, we naturally extend Love to all our brothers. Our healing serves the healing of the world. And we give thanks.

Accepting Clear Vision

…we watch our thoughts, appealing silently to Him Who sees the elements of truth in them. Let Him evaluate each thought that comes to mind, remove the elements of dreams, and give them back again as clean ideas that do not contradict the Will of God.

Give Him your thoughts, and He will give them back as miracles which joyously proclaim the wholeness and the happiness God wills His Son, as proof of His eternal Love. And as each thought is thus transformed, it takes on healing power from the Mind which saw the truth in it, and failed to be deceived by what was falsely added. All the threads of fantasy are gone. And what remains is unified into a perfect Thought that offers its perfection everywhere. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.151.13:3-4;14:1-4)

Watching our thoughts is an important step toward releasing ourselves from the pain, fear and guilt of the ego thought system. But with that, it is important to appeal to the Holy Spirit, our True Self, for help to see beyond the appearances of the world. Our True Self sees the elements of truth beyond our perceptions.

When we are willing to receive our True Self’s vision, we are shown the elements of truth beyond appearances. We thus are able to bring the Light of Truth into the shadowy world of the ego. The Light dispels the shadows and Love’s blessing extends to all. The appearance of conflict is transformed into joining in the oneness of Love. This is how we fulfill our function as God’s Son to bring healing to the world.

We dedicate today to watching our thoughts and asking for the clear vision of our true Self.
