Remembering Our True Self Is Love

⁶You make what you defend against, and by your own defense against it is it real and inescapable. ⁷Lay down your arms, and only then do you perceive it false.

The choice you make today is certain. ²For you look for the last time upon this bit of carven stone you made, and call it god no longer. …⁶And you return to a new world, unburdened by its weight; beheld not in its sightless eyes, but in the vision that your choice restored to you.

Now do your eyes belong to Christ, and He looks through them. ²Now your voice belongs to God and echoes His. ³And now your heart remains at peace forever.

Father, we are like You. ²No cruelty abides in us, for there is none in You. ³Your peace is ours. ⁴And we bless the world with what we have received from You alone. ⁵We choose again, and make our choice for all our brothers, knowing they are one with us. ⁶We bring them Your salvation as we have received it now. ⁷And we give thanks for them who render us complete. ⁸In them we see Your glory, and in them we find our peace. ⁹Holy are we because Your Holiness has set us free. ¹⁰And we give thanks. ¹¹Amen. The ego has subtle ways of defending its world. Frustration, irritation, impatience have the same effect as intense rage. They all depend on belief that we are separate from the “cause” of these emotions.

We are called today to lay down our defenses. This starts with willingness to step back from our defenses and ask the Holy Spirit to help us let them go. With our willingness to be helped, we are given Christ’s vision which shows us the reality of Love’s oneness and the unreality of perceived differences.

With His help, we recognize the one Self we share as God’s Son. We accept His sure correction that helps us remember that we remain in the changelessness of God’s Love.

Choosing Love to Guide Our Vision “

The light has come.

²In choosing salvation rather than attack, I merely choose to recognize what is already there. ³Salvation is a decision made already. ⁴Attack and grievances [separation] are not there to choose. ⁵That is why I always choose between truth and illusion; between what is there and what is not. ⁶The light has come. ⁷I can but choose the light, for it has no alternative. ⁸It has replaced the darkness, and the darkness has gone.

These would prove useful forms for specific applications of this idea:

²This cannot show me darkness, for the light has come.
³The light in you is all that I would see, [name].
⁴I would see in this only what is there. (A Course in Miracles, W-88.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 88 Insights.)

We have chosen to be in a dream of separation. It is a dream of attack and grievances because it is a choice to deny Love. But we can choose differently. As we forgive our choice against Love, the Light of Love returns to our darkened mind. It brings with It joy and peace, for there is no conflict within Love’s Light.

As we let ourselves see the Love in every brother, Its Light shines back on us; we remember the Love in us. Fear is dispelled. The dream of this world becomes increasingly happy and loving. We choose to see the Light of Love today.

Remembering Our Creator’s Gifts

Now will I seek and find the peace of God.

In peace I was created. ²And in peace do I remain. ³It is not given me to change my Self. ⁴How merciful is God my Father, that when He created me He gave me peace forever. ⁵Now I ask but to be what I am. ⁶And can this be denied me, when it is forever true?

Father, I seek the peace You gave as mine in my creation. ²What was given then must be here now, for my creation was apart from time, and still remains beyond all change. ³The peace in which Your Son was born into Your Mind is shining there unchanged. ⁴I am as You created me. ⁵I need but call on You to find the peace You gave. ⁶It is Your Will that gave it to Your Son. The dream of being unique and different is a denial of God’s Creation. All that He creates is an extension of Himself, with all His attributes. As His Son, we share all His peace, Love and joy.

Our dream of being a body, different from all others, has not changed our true Identity as God’s Son. We remain as He Created us, united as His one Son. We are grateful that He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us remember His gift of peace.

How to Ask for God’s Help

This day is God’s. It is my gift to Him.

I will not lead my life alone today. ²I do not understand the world, and so to try to lead my life alone must be but foolishness. ³But there is One Who knows all that is best for me. ⁴And He is glad to make no choices for me but the ones that lead to God. ⁵I give this day to Him, for I would not delay my coming home, and it is He Who knows the way to God.

And so we give today to You. ²We come with wholly open minds. ³We do not ask for anything that we may think we want. ⁴Give us what You would have received by us. ⁵You know all our desires and our wants. ⁶And You will give us everything we need in helping us to find the way to You. The ego likes to tell God what He needs to do for us. But anything the ego asks for is not in our best interest.

It is important that we ask for our Father’s help with an open mind. He knows what we really need and what will bring us true happiness and peace. God knows our wishes. He will provide everything we need that will help us return to our Home in His Love.

Resting in the Certainty of Christ’s Vision

God in His mercy wills that I be saved.

I need but look upon all things that seem to hurt me, and with perfect certainty assure myself, “God wills that I be saved from this,” and merely watch them disappear. ²I need but keep in mind my Father’s Will for me is only happiness, to find that only happiness has come to me. ³And I need but remember that God’s Love surrounds His Son and keeps his sinlessness forever perfect, to be sure that I am saved and safe forever in His Arms. ⁴I am the Son He loves. ⁵And I am saved because God in His mercy wills it so.

Father, Your Holiness is mine. ²Your Love created me, and made my sinlessness forever part of You. ³I have no guilt nor sin in me, for there is none in You. (A Course in Miracles, W-235. See also ACIM Lesson 235 Insights.)

The body, itself an illusion, can tell us nothing about Reality. It can only perceive a world of illusions. We need to let the Holy Spirit teach us how to see with the forgiving eyes of Christ.

Christ’s vision shows us the truth that there is nothing in God’s Creation that can hurt us. It sees that God’s Will for us is perfect happiness and peace that cannot be disturbed. In truth, God’s Love surrounds and keeps us safe in His loving Arms. We rest in this certainty as we let the Holy Spirit help us forgive our misperceptions.

Claiming Our Identity as Love

I feel the Love of God within me now.

²The Love of God is what created me. ³The Love of God is everything I am. ⁴The Love of God proclaimed me as His Son. ⁵The Love of God within me sets me free.

I choose the joy of God instead of pain.

²Pain is my own idea. ³It is not a Thought of God, but one I thought apart from Him and from His Will. ⁴His Will is joy, and only joy for His beloved Son. ⁵And that I choose, instead of what I made.

⁶I am not a body. ⁷I am free.
⁸For I am still as God created me. (A Course in Miracles, W-209.1:1-5;210.1. See also ACIM Lesson 209 Insights.)

To the ego, judgment is necessary for survival. Judgment affirms that separation is real. Without it, the ego would simply cease to seem to exist. The ego’s judgments are all based on illusions and misperceptions. Perceptions begin with the idea that something external exists to be observed. This further affirms the “reality” of separation.

The Love that is our true Identity sees nothing external. It knows Its oneness with all that is real. In this certainty is perfect peace. There is nothing that exists to disturb its peace. Today we are reminded to claim our true Identity by accepting that we are Love and nothing else.

Our Peace of Mind Is Guaranteed

We cannot change our true Identity. Only our belief in illusions of the past can disturb our peace. Memories of a past can be dispelled when we are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s true perception of reality in place of our misperceptions.

We welcome His reinterpretations by being willing to accept the peace of God within us. It is always there to be called upon. Our call for peace expresses our willingness to let our mind be healed.

We walk with God today in peace and gratitude.
