Awakening from Fear to Love

The Holy Spirit mediates between illusions and the truth. ²Since He must bridge the gap between reality and dreams, perception leads to knowledge through the grace that God has given Him, to be His gift to everyone who turns to Him for truth.

²The Holy Spirit understands the means you made, by which you would attain what is forever unattainable. ³And if you offer them to Him, He will employ the means you made for exile to restore your mind to where it truly is at home.

From knowledge, where He has been placed by God, the Holy Spirit calls to you, to let forgiveness rest upon your dreams, and be restored to sanity and peace of mind. ²Without forgiveness will your dreams remain to terrify you. ³And the memory of all your Father’s Love will not return to signify the end of dreams has come.

Accept your Father’s gift. ²It is a Call from Love to Love, that It be but Itself. ³The Holy Spirit is His gift, by which the quietness of Heaven is restored to God’s beloved Son. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.7.1:1-2;3:2–5:3.)

To experience the specialness we sought, we made a dream filled with false images that made all things appear to be separate and distinct from each other. In this dream we are unaware of our true Identity as Love, united with our Creator.

The Holy Spirit understands the dream we made, but knows it is unreal. He calls to us in our dreams of conflict to forgive our wish for specialness and awaken to the quietness of Heaven. With forgiveness, the memory of our Father’s Love replaces the fearful dream.

Learning to Accept God’s Love as Our Identity.

I need but call and You will answer me.

I am not asked to take salvation on the basis of an unsupported faith. ²For God has promised He will hear my call, and answer me Himself. ³Let me but learn from my experience that this is true, and faith in Him must surely come to me. ⁴This is the faith that will endure, and take me farther and still farther on the road that leads to Him. ⁵For thus I will be sure that He has not abandoned me and loves me still, awaiting but my call to give me all the help I need to come to Him.

Father, I thank You that Your promises will never fail in my experience, if I but test them out. ²Let me attempt therefore to try them, and to judge them not. ³Your Word is one with You. ⁴You give the means whereby conviction comes, and surety of Your abiding Love is gained at last. When we ask the Holy Spirit for help, it is important that we not put limits on His answer. The ego only understands form and wants any question to be answered in a form it can accept. This is how the ego protects itself from the one Answer that would dispel the ego entirely.

At its core, the Holy Spirit’s singular answer is the oneness of God’s Love, which can contain no differences or form. The Holy Spirit’s function is to interpret Love’s oneness in ways that help us forgive our misinterpretations and open our minds to accept our Father’s gift of all His Love.

The Decision to Accept God’s Love

Let us this day accept forgiveness as our only function. ²Why should we attack our minds, and give them images of pain? ³Why should we teach them they are powerless, when God holds out His power and His Love, and bids them [our minds] take what is already theirs? ⁴The mind that is made willing to accept God’s gifts has been restored to spirit, and extends its freedom and its joy, as is the Will of God united with its own. ⁵The Self which God created cannot sin, and therefore cannot suffer. ⁶Let us choose today that He be our Identity, and thus escape forever from all things the dream of fear appears to offer us.

Father, Your Son can not be hurt. ²And if we think we suffer, we but fail to know our one Identity we share with You. ³We would return to It today, to be made free forever from all our mistakes, and to be saved from what we thought we were. Our only function is to forgive our mistaken wish to be a separate individual, housed in a body, and disconnected from the reality of God’s Love. Forgiveness opens our mind to accept God’s gift of all of Himself.

God is our true Identity. His Love created His Son one with Himself. Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s help to recognize our illusions for what they are, and let them go. This is how we free our minds from our mistaken wishes. The veil of self-deception is dispelled and we awaken to the Love our Father has always shared with us.

Willingness to See Love’s Reflection in the World

All things I think I see reflect ideas.

This is salvation’s keynote: What I see reflects a process in my mind, which starts with my idea of what I want. ²From there, the mind makes up an image of the thing the mind desires, judges valuable, and therefore seeks to find. ³These images are then projected outward, looked upon, esteemed as real and guarded as one’s own. ⁴From insane wishes comes an insane world. ⁵From judgment comes a world condemned. ⁶And from forgiving thoughts a gentle world comes forth, with mercy for the holy Son of God, to offer him a kindly home where he can rest a while before he journeys on, and help his brothers walk ahead with him, and find the way to Heaven and to God.

Our Father, Your ideas reflect the truth, and mine apart from Yours but make up dreams. ²Let me behold what only Yours [ideas] reflect, for Yours and Yours alone establish truth. (A Course in Miracles,W-325. See also ACIM Lesson 325 Insights.)

The world we see reflects our wishes, projections of what we believe we want. The body and what it sees are reflections of the wish for specialness, to be different. Judgment is a constant activity, need to maintain the illusion of differences.

Our Father’s singular idea is that we remain eternally one with Him in His Love. Love is one and the same, always and forever. Love does no judge because It sees only Itself.

When we are willing to see with forgiving eyes, we welcome Love. We see only the Love we are reflected back to us. Today we join with our brothers in the practice of seeing only Love. That is how we will remember that we are Love, and nothing else.

Welcoming All to Our Circle of Love

In you there is no separation, and no substitute can keep you from your brother. ²Your reality was God’s creation, and has no substitute. ³You are so firmly joined in truth that only God is there. ⁴And He would never accept something else instead of you. ⁵He loves you both, equally and as one.

You have been called, together with your brother, to the most holy function this world contains. ²It is the only one that has no limits, and reaches out to every broken fragment of the Sonship with healing and uniting comfort. ³This is offered you, in your holy relationship. ⁴Accept it here, and you will give as you have accepted. ⁵The peace of God is given you with the glowing purpose in which you join with your brother. ⁶The holy light that brought you and him together must extend, as you accepted it. A holy relationship accepts the unity of Love, which joins us without limits to our brother. In that holy relationship, we are whole and complete with each other within God’s all encompassing Love.

Our only need is to extend the Love that unifies us to all who believe they are broken and alone. Together we rest in God’s peace and invite all to join in our boundless circle of Love.

Remembering Our Unity in God’s Love

I have already chosen what You will.

Father, I thought I wandered from Your Will, defied it, broke its laws, and interposed a second will more powerful than Yours. ²Yet what I am in truth is but Your Will, extended and extending. ³This am I, and this will never change. ⁴As You are One, so am I one with You. ⁵And this I chose in my creation, where my will became forever one with Yours. ⁶That choice was made for all eternity. ⁷It cannot change, and be in opposition to itself. ⁸Father, my will is Yours. ⁹And I am safe, untroubled and serene, in endless joy, because it is Your Will that it be so.

Today we will accept our union with each other and our Source. ²We have no will apart from His, and all of us are one because His Will is shared by all of us. ³Through it we recognize that we are one. ⁴Through it we find our way at last to God. We are all one with each other and our Father. There is no adversary ‘out there’ from whom we must protect ourselves. The changeless Love our Creator shares with us all guarantees His sure protection.

Today we remind ourselves that we are united with each other in God’s Love. We join in the happy extension of His Love and peace.

We Are Eternally Safe in God’s Love

The ego is insane. ²In fear it stands beyond the Everywhere, apart from All, in separation from the Infinite. ³In its insanity it thinks it has become a victor over God Himself.

The Son of God is egoless. ²What can he know of madness and the death of God, when he abides in Him? ³What can he know of sorrow and of suffering, when he lives in eternal joy? ⁴What can he know of fear and punishment, of sin and guilt, of hatred and attack, when all there is surrounding him is everlasting peace, forever conflict-free and undisturbed, in deepest silence and tranquility?

To know reality is not to see the ego and its thoughts, its works, its acts, its laws and its beliefs, its dreams, its hopes, its plans for its salvation, and the cost belief in it entails.

Yet will one lily of forgiveness change the darkness into light; the altar to illusions to the shrine of Life Itself. ²And peace will be restored forever to the holy minds which God created as His Son, His dwelling place, His joy, His love, completely His, completely one with Him. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.12.2:1-3;3:1–4:1;5)

The ego is a demand that God provide it special favor so it can claim something that belongs to it alone. It is a rebellion against the oneness of God’s Love. Dissatisfied with God’s gift to His Son of all His Love, the ego hallucinates a world of differences in which it sets itself apart from all ‘others’. The ego did not fall from God’s grace; it denied God’s grace.

By God’s grace, our true Self remains eternally united with our Father, forever at peace, safe in His sure protection, and sharing His joy.
