Joining with the Joyful Will of God

My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.

²Since the thoughts of which I am aware do not mean anything, the world that pictures them can have no meaning. ³What is producing this world is insane, and so is what it produces. ⁴Reality is not insane, and I have real thoughts as well as insane ones. ⁵I can therefore see a real world, if I look to my real thoughts as my guide for seeing.

²How can a meaningless world exist if God did not create it? ³He is the Source of all meaning, and everything that is real is in His Mind. ⁴It is in my mind too, because He created it with me. ⁵Why should I continue to suffer from the effects of my own insane thoughts, when the perfection of creation is my home? ⁶Let me remember the power of my decision, and recognize where I really abide.

…God’s way is sure. ⁶The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. ⁷My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him. (A Course in Miracles,W-53.1;4:2-6;5:5-7. See also ACIM Lesson 53 Insights.)

Our real thoughts come from our true Self, the Son of God. They are thoughts of Love that reach out to bless the world. They extend the Love that is God’s one eternal Thought.

Today we choose to be true to our Self by setting aside our wish for specialness. Instead we join with our Father in His eternal extension of His Love. This is the Will we share with our Creator.

Our Choice to Accept Holy Spirit’s Lessons in Love

…The world you see does nothing. ²It has no effects at all. ³It merely represents your thoughts. ⁴And it will change entirely as you elect to change your mind, and choose the joy of God as what you really want. ⁵Your Self is radiant in this holy joy, unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable, forever and forever. ⁶And would you deny a little corner of your mind its own inheritance, and keep it as a hospital for pain; a sickly place where living things must come at last to die?

⁵Pain is but sleep; joy is awakening. ⁶Pain is deception; joy alone is truth.

And so again we make the only choice that ever can be made; we choose between illusions and the truth, or pain and joy, or hell and Heaven. ²Let our gratitude unto our Teacher fill our hearts, as we are free to choose our joy instead of pain, our holiness in place of sin, the peace of God instead of conflict, and the light of Heaven for the darkness of the world. Anything that disturbs our peace, diminishes our joy, or causes pain of any kind is a sure sign that we believe illusions are real. We are engaged in a dream that denies the oneness of our Father’s Love.

We can awaken from this dream of hell by turning our attention to the Teacher within. He remembers for us that we remain one Self held eternally safe in God’s Love. With His help, we will remember that we live in the Light of Heaven. Our choice to accept His lessons in Love will return us to the peace and joy we share with our Creator.

Finding Our Safety in God’s Love

Fear is not justified in any form.

Fear is deception. ²It attests that you have seen yourself as you could never be, and therefore look upon a world which is impossible. ³Not one thing in this world is true. ⁴It does not matter what the form in which it may appear. ⁵It witnesses but to your own illusions of yourself. ⁶Let us not be deceived today. ⁷We are the Sons of God. ⁸There is no fear in us, for we are each a part of Love Itself.

How foolish are our fears! ²Would You allow Your Son to suffer? ³Give us faith today to recognize Your Son, and set him free. ⁴Let us forgive him in Your Name, that we may understand his holiness, and feel the love for him which is Your Own as well. The ego is the denial of Love. To keep our attention, it offers us countless images of conflict that foster fear. When there is fear we feel a need to defend and attack, which seems to justify more fear.

But we are the Sons of God, part of Love Itself. Conflict cannot occur in Love’s oneness. We have been given a Teacher in our mind Whose function is to help us see past the fear-producing illusions of differences. Today we resolve to accept His help to forgive our illusions and recognize that only Love is real. We are safe in the changelessness of Love.

Being a Conduit for God’s Peace

Why wait for Heaven? ²Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. ³The light is in them now. ⁴Enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all. ⁵Light is not of the world, yet you who bear the light in you are alien here as well. ⁶The light came with you from your native home, and stayed with you because it is your own. ⁷It is the only thing you bring with you from Him Who is your Source. ⁸It shines in you because it lights your home, and leads you back to where it came from and you are at home.

⁵It is not difficult to look within, for there all vision starts. ⁶There is no sight, be it of dreams or from a truer Source, that is not but the shadow of the seen through inward vision. ⁷There perception starts, and there it ends. ⁸It has no source but this.

The peace of God is shining in you now, and from your heart extends around the world. ²It pauses to caress each living thing, and leaves a blessing with it that remains forever and forever.

The peace of God can never be contained. ²Who recognizes it within himself must give it. ³And the means for giving it are in his understanding. ⁴He forgives because he recognized the truth in him. (A Course in Miracles, W-188.1;2:5–3:2;5:1-4. See also ACIM Lesson 188 Insights.)

Our true Identity is the Light of the world. Radiating from within us, this Light dispels the ego’s dark conflicting illusions. This Light is ever present. We let it enlighten our world by forgiving the wish for specialness, which denies the Light. This denial makes us blind to the truth.

As we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to forgive our mistaken wishes, the peace of God flows freely through us. We rest in His peace. In gratitude, we offer peace to the world.

The Search for Our True Identity

²Because your grievances are hiding the light of the world in you, everyone stands in darkness, and you beside him. ³But as the veil of your grievances is lifted, you are released with him. ⁴Share your salvation now with him who stood beside you when you were in hell. ⁵He is your brother in the light of the world that saves you both.

²Salvation is our only need. ³There is no other purpose here, and no other function to fulfill. ⁴Learning salvation is our only goal. ⁵Let us end the ancient search today by finding the light in us, and holding it up for everyone who searches with us to look upon and rejoice. (A Course in Miracles, W-69.1:2-5;3:2-5. See also ACIM Lesson 69 Insights.)

The ego is a grievance against God, Who could not give the ego what it asked for and remain true to Himself. Without God’s blessing, the ego made up a world filled with illusionary images that seem to satisfy its demand for specialness. But for this world to seem to be seen, ego had to shut out the Light of our Father’s Love.

We can return to the Light that is our Source and holy Home by forgiving the images of specialness we perceive. This is the only way to free ourselves from the ego’s fruitless search for peace. The ego is terrified of peace and will always direct us to search where it cannot be found.

In every moment we have the opportunity to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to lead us to the peace within, which is our eternal Identity.

Freeing Ourselves to Extend Our Father’s Love

²You cannot wake yourself. ³Yet you can let yourself be wakened. ⁴You can overlook your brother’s dreams. ⁵So perfectly can you forgive him his illusions he becomes your savior from your dreams. ⁶And as you see him shining in the space of light where God abides within the darkness, you will see that God Himself is where his body is. ⁷Before this light the body disappears, as heavy shadows must give way to light. ⁸The darkness cannot choose that it remain. ⁹The coming of the light means it is gone. ¹⁰In glory will you see your brother then, and understand what really fills the gap so long perceived as keeping you apart. ¹¹There, in its place, God’s witness has set forth the gentle way of kindness to God’s Son. ¹²Whom you forgive is given power to forgive you your illusions. ¹³By your gift of freedom is it given unto you.

Make way for love, which you did not create, but which you can extend. ²On earth this means forgive your brother, that the darkness may be lifted from your mind. (A Course in Miracles, T-29.III.3:2–4:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The mind asleep in dreams of separation sees conflicting images made by the wish for specialness. Perceptions seem to confirm that differences are real, and harm and loss are real. The presence of Love is hidden beneath clouds of fear and guilt.

Forgiveness restores Love’s presence to our awareness. In Its Light, the Love that is our brother’s reality shines into our mind, awakening us to our true Identity as Love and nothing else. We free ourselves to join with our brothers in the eternal extension of our Father’s Love.

Opening Our Minds to Accept God’s Gifts

²The peace of God is everything I want. ³The peace of God is my one goal; the aim of all my living here, the end I seek, my purpose and my function and my life, while I abide where I am not at home.

²I am entrusted with the gifts of God, because I am His Son. ³And I would give His gifts where He intended them to be.

⁴I am not a body. ⁵I am free. ⁶For I am still as God created me. (W-205.1:2-3;206.1:2-6)

Everyone in the world wants the peace of God. Somewhere deep inside, we know that peace is our natural state of mind. When we do not experience peace, we naturally seek to find it.

The ego’s plan to fulfill this wish is to direct our search where it cannot be found. It directs us to defend ourselves and attack others, even to the point of death. Its plans can never work because the ego denies the Source of peace.

The Holy Spirit’s plan guides us to forgive our self-made barriers to peace. It reminds us that we are not a body. As we let go of our mistaken identification with the body, we set ourselves free to accept God’s gifts of all of His peace, His joy and His Love.
