Remembering Our Safety in God’s Love

How can illusions satisfy God’s Son?

Father, the truth belongs to me. ²My home is set in Heaven by Your Will and mine. ³Can dreams content me? ⁴Can illusions bring me happiness? ⁵What but Your memory can satisfy Your Son? ⁶I will accept no less than You have given me. ⁷I am surrounded by Your Love, forever still, forever gentle and forever safe. ⁸God’s Son must be as You created him.

Today we pass illusions by. ²And if we hear temptation call to us to stay and linger in a dream, we turn aside and ask ourselves if we, the Sons of God, could be content with dreams, when Heaven can be chosen just as easily as hell, and love will happily replace all fear. We are all held safely in God’s Love. But our identification with a false image is a barrier that makes us oblivious our Father’s Love. Our belief that we are separate and alone in a world of conflict makes us fearful. But this fear can be dispelled by letting the Holy Spirit show us that we only fear illusions.

Illusions cannot affect Reality. Recognition of illusions frees us from our beliefs in their seeming effects. We freely let them pass by as we let Love’s Light reveal that we remain at Home in the safety of our Father’s Love, unaffected by our mistaken beliefs.

Awakening to Our Unity in Love

Father, my freedom is in You alone.

I did not understand what made me free, nor what my freedom is, nor where to look to find it. ²Father, I have searched in vain until I heard Your Voice directing me. ³Now I would guide myself no more. ⁴For I have neither made nor understood the way to find my freedom. ⁵But I trust in You. ⁶You Who endowed me with my freedom as Your holy Son will not be lost to me. ⁷Your Voice directs me, and the way to You is opening and clear to me at last. ⁸Father, my freedom is in You alone. ⁹Father, it is my will that I return.

Today we answer for the world, which will be freed along with us. ²How glad are we to find our freedom through the certain way our Father has established. ³And how sure is all the world’s salvation, when we learn our freedom can be found in God alone. We see a world of separate individuals with conflicting goals only because we value our own unique identity. This can only be experienced in dreams of specialness. When we wake up from the dream, we will see our true Self as part of God’s one Son.

God’s Voice is calling to us in our mind to awaken to His ever-present Love. It is there to guide us out of the quagmire of confusing illusions that engulf us with fear and guilt. We need to pause to welcome His quiet assurance that we are safe in the certainty of His Love. He will teach us that we are free to join with our Father in His eternal extension of His Love.

Our Unbreakable Unity with God

⁶Pursuit of the imagined leads to death because it is the search for nothingness, and while you seek for life you ask for death. ⁷You look for safety and security, while in your heart you pray for danger and protection for the little dream you made.

Yet searching is inevitable here. ²For this you came, and you will surely do the thing you came for. ³But the world can not dictate the goal for which you search, unless you give it power to do so.

Be glad that search you must. ²Be glad as well to learn you search for Heaven, and must find the goal you really want. ³No one can fail to want this goal and reach it in the end.

No one remains in hell, for no one can abandon his Creator, nor affect His perfect, timeless and unchanging Love. ²You will find Heaven. ³Everything you seek but this will fall away. ⁴Yet not because it has been taken from you. ⁵It will go because you do not want it. ⁶You will reach the goal you really want as certainly as God created you in sinlessness. We are all searching for Love. But when the ego is directing our search, as the song says, “We are searching for love in all the wrong places.” The ego does not want us to find the Love that created us. Because if we find God’s Love and accept It, the ego would disappear into the nothingness from which it came.

We can be comforted by the fact that we will find the Love we seek, because God’s Love is all of Reality. His Love was never withdrawn from us, His one Son. It remains ours eternally, making our unity with our Father unbreakable.

Accepting Our True Identity as Love

I gladly make the “sacrifice” of fear.

Here is the only “sacrifice” You ask of Your beloved Son; You ask him to give up all suffering, all sense of loss and sadness, all anxiety and doubt, and freely let Your Love come streaming in to his awareness, healing him of pain, and giving him Your Own eternal joy. ²Such is the “sacrifice” You ask of me, and one I gladly make; the only “cost” of restoration of Your memory to me, for the salvation of the world.

And as we pay the debt we owe to truth,—a debt that merely is the letting go of self-deceptions and of images we worshipped falsely—truth returns to us in wholeness and in joy. ²We are deceived no longer. ³Love has now returned to our awareness. ⁴And we are at peace again, for fear has gone and only love remains. Fear is important in the dream of separation. It alerts us to the need to protect ourselves from harm. But the appearance of harm is an illusion fostered by the wish for specialness. Only the special need to protect their status.

But our true Identity is changeless Love, which needs no protection. Love is uniformly the same, joyfully extending Itself forever without limit. We need only forgive our fantasy of a unique identity and join with our Creator in the eternal extension of Love. Here is where we will live in peace and joy.

Remembering Our Safety in God’s Love

I can give up but what was never real.

I sacrifice illusions; nothing more. ²And as illusions go I find the gifts illusions tried to hide, awaiting me in shining welcome, and in readiness to give God’s ancient messages to me. ³His memory abides in every gift that I receive of Him. ⁴And every dream serves only to conceal the Self which is God’s only Son, the likeness of Himself, the Holy One Who still abides in Him forever, as He still abides in me.

Father, to You all sacrifice remains forever inconceivable. ²And so I cannot sacrifice except in dreams. ³As You created me, I can give up nothing You gave me. ⁴What You did not give has no reality. ⁵What loss can I anticipate except the loss of fear, and the return of love into my mind? Our identification as a body is in defiance of God’s Creation. God created His Son as an extension of His Love, eternally one with Himself, without limit. Though we appear in the dream as many, He sees us all as His one Son.

The images of separate identities we perceive are merely projections of our wish to be unique (special). They conceal our Reality as our Father’s only Son. But, in every moment, we can choose to accept His gift of all of His Love. This is our Reality, wholly free of fear, safe in the changelessness of His Love. Today we remind ourselves of this truth.

We Have the Means to Return to Love

Perception is consistent. ²What you see reflects your thinking. ³And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. ⁴Your values are determiners of this, for what you value you must want to see, believing what you see is really there. ⁵No one can see a world his mind has not accorded value. ⁶And no one can fail to look upon what he believes he wants.

Fear has made everything you think you see. ²All separation, all distinctions, and the multitude of differences you believe make up the world. ³They are not there. ⁴Love’s enemy has made them up. ⁵Yet love can have no enemy, and so they have no cause, no being and no consequence. ⁶They can be valued, but remain unreal.

It is impossible to see two worlds which have no overlap of any kind. ²Seek for the one; the other disappears. ³But one remains. ⁴They are the range of choice beyond which your decision cannot go. ⁵The real and the unreal are all there are to choose between, and nothing more than these.

⁵It is impossible to see two worlds. ⁶Let me accept the strength God offers me and see no value in this world, that I may find my freedom and deliverance.

God will be there. ²For you have called upon the great unfailing power which will take this giant step with you in gratitude. ³Nor will you fail to see His thanks expressed in tangible perception and in truth. (A Course in Miracles, W-130.1;4:1-6;5;8:5–9:3. See also ACIM Lesson 130 Insights.)

We see what we value. If we want to have a unique identity, we will see a world of conflicting differences which we judge as good or bad, right or wrong. This judgment blocks the changeless Love of God from our awareness.

But through the Holy Spirit, God offers us His strength to see no value in this world of differences. With His strength supporting us, we are guided on a path of freedom from judgment. We are grateful that we have the means within our mind to return to our Home in the Heart of our Father’s Love.

In Quiet We Hear the Voice of Peace

Hear, holy Son of God, your Father speak. ²His Voice would give to you His holy Word, to spread across the world the tidings of salvation and the holy time of peace. ³We gather at the throne of God today, the quiet place within the mind where He abides forever, in the holiness that He created and will never leave.

He has not waited until you return your mind to Him to give His Word to you. ²He has not hid Himself from you, while you have wandered off a little while from Him. ³He does not cherish the illusions which you hold about yourself. ⁴He knows His Son, and wills that he remain as part of Him regardless of his dreams; regardless of his madness that his will is not his own.

Today He speaks to you. ²His Voice awaits your silence, for His Word can not be heard until your mind is quiet for a while, and meaningless desires have been stilled. ³Await His Word in quiet. ⁴There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak.

²He speaks from nearer than your heart to you. ³His Voice is closer than your hand. ⁴His Love is everything you are and that He is; the same as you, and you the same as He. (A Course in Miracles, W-125.4:1–6:4;7:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 125 Insights.)

In spite of the chaos that seems to be all around us in the world, there is a peace within our mind that remains undisturbed by events in the world. It is there to be called upon in any moment.

Today we pause to take refuge in that peace. As we let our mind be quiet, we hear a Voice that is not of this world speak to us of the Love our Father has for us, His Son. It assures us that we are safe in the sure protection of His Love.
