Letting Holy Spirit Lead

Today we put Holy Spirit in charge of the dream… We accept Holy Spirit’s grace… We accept Holy Spirit’s peace… We accept Holy Spirit’s blessings…

Today we are willing to practice accepting Holy Spirit’s change of mind and let our thoughts be healed. We will practice letting Holy Spirit lead the way with everything we do today.

To let Holy Spirit lead the way, I need to step back from my interpretations of everything. This clears the way for me to receive Holy Spirit’s interpretation, which is always from the perspective of wholeness, unity and innocence. The part of my mind that believes separation is real also believes that punishment is justified for having “hurt” God.

Problems are a playing out of this perceived need for punishment. As I am willing to accept Holy Spirit’s perception, I see that I have done nothing to change God or His one Son. Harm is impossible. The need to have problems falls away because I see only innocence and remember that I remain innocent as God created me.

With Holy Spirit’s vision, all things, situations and circumstances are used on behalf of awakening to the certainty of Love and the holiness of God’s creation. It is this I would see today.

Accepting Guidance

The focus for today is to accept Holy Spirit’s guidance all through the day. I can only do this when I pay attention to how Holy Spirit is guiding me. Holy Spirit’s guidance is always filled with peace. The level of peace I feel is a great barometer of the level I am accepting Holy Spirit’s guidance. My practice for today is to pay attention to the “peace barometer” and choose ‘peace first.’

I am reminded of the song “Row Your Boat.” It is a reminder to go with the flow of the stream, the flow of Holy Spirit’s plan. As I stay in this flow, I am easily directed in all my doing in the world. The doing becomes a reflection of the gentle flow of the Love that is my Home. I need not effort today but I do need to be vigilant for peace. In peace is how I flow with Holy Spirit’s plan.

In My Defenselessness My Safety Lies

Through practicing applying the Course in my life, my days are increasingly more peaceful and happy. Yet there is a part of my mind that still believes I am disconnected from the Source of everything I need and am.

It is this part that gets wrapped up in making plans for my protection and well being. These plans are meaningless because the Truth in me is perfectly safe and whole. When I get caught up in making plans, my peace is disrupted. I am more prone to defensiveness.

I am grateful that I am becoming less tolerant of this state of mind. When I recognize I am in this place, I ask for help from the Connection within that remembers the Truth about me and All That is. I ask for help to see the Truth, to recognize the false idea for what it is, and let Truth’s blessing clear my mind. This is another day of practice.

Today is a day of letting myself be carried. This is true defenselessness. Today is a day of placing trust in inner Guidance instead of ego defenses. Today is a day of practice, of stepping back and listening to the quiet inner Voice and following as I am guided. And for this practice I give thanks.

Remembering to Be Lighthearted

When I go to the inner place of quiet, I am reminded not to take the world so seriously. I am reminded to remember to laugh. I am reminded to be lighthearted. I am reminded to choose peace instead of conflict.

As I open to Holy Spirit’s peace, all the world’s stories lose their sharp edge. Fear falls away and is replaced with trust. Quiet, gentle inspiration in the now moment replaces efforting. I remember that everyone is safe in the Mind of God. Forgiveness, or letting go of our belief in the dream, is our one goal. The Son truly is one, and this can never change. Nothing real can be threatened.

Letting go of judgment opens the door to lasting peace and happiness. Judgment always blocks awareness of Love’s presence and therefore disturbs my peace. Today I ask the Holy Spirit to help me see as He sees, judge as He judges. The Holy Spirit judges very simply: It’s either real or unreal. What is recognized as unreal is easily laid aside. What is real is God’s Love. There is nothing else.

So with Holy Spirit’s help today, I will see the Love of God everywhere. I will easily recognize behavior of bodies as having no reality and thus is not cause for judgment. This is how I will learn that I am Love’s creation, and remain Love and nothing else. It’s a great day for practice.

Recognizing Ego’s Projection

Your picture of the world can only mirror what is within. The source of neither light nor darkness can be found without. Grievances darken your mind, and you look out on a darkened world. Forgiveness lifts the darkness, reasserts your will, and lets you look upon a world of light. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.73.5:1-4)

I am always getting feedback on whether I am joining with the ego or the Holy Spirit. What I see in the outside world is always only mirroring what I believe is within. I am learning to realize that what I see “out there” is there because I put it there. When I see guilt out there, I have joined with the ego. When I see that there is only Love or a call for Love, I am joining with the Holy Spirit.

This feedback is very helpful to me in recognizing when I need to step back and let Holy Spirit lead the way once again. My practice for today is to be vigilant to monitor what I think is happening in this world of separate bodies with separate minds. Right now, am I willing to remember the truth of Love’s oneness? I give thanks that I have this constant feedback reminding me to let go of ego’s thoughts of separation when they come up and, instead, accept Holy Spirit’s healed perception.

Holy Spirit, guide my seeing today. Help me recognize the projections that reflect belief that I am something other than God’s extension of Love. Help me to see that the belief behind the projection is based on a false idea and is therefore nothing. Help me to see its powerlessness, for I would choose Your strength, which is in truth my own.

Seeing the Light with Holy Spirit

You cannot see the Holy Spirit, but you can see your brothers truly. And the light in them will show you all that you need to see. When the peace in you has been extended to encompass everyone, the Holy Spirit’s function here will be accomplished. (ACIM T-19.IV.3:4-6)

My practice for today is to see the Light in every brother. If I think I see something else, I am seeing ego projections. The way I can be truly helpful in every situation is to be willing to see my brothers truly. With Holy Spirit’s help, this practice is effortless.

As I am willing to accept Holy Spirit’s help, I will see the Light in every brother. I will see past individuality to the one Light that is always there. So I start this practice by focusing on my willingness to see with Holy Spirit.

Judgment is a barrier against the Light. It maintains a sense of separation between me and the loving truth of my brother. Since my brother is part of my one Self, judgment stands between me and the Love that is my Self. This is why forgiveness is the central theme of A Course in Miracles. This is why forgiveness is the key to happiness.

I want to be happy. I want to remember Love. Today I ask for help from the Truth within to recognize the judgments that stand between me and seeing the Light of Love in my brother. I ask for help in letting go of those judgments. This is how I make way for the happiness of Heaven.

What Is My True Purpose?

Your purpose is to see the world through your own holiness. Thus are you and the world blessed together. No one loses; nothing is taken away from anyone; everyone gains through your holy vision. It signifies the end of sacrifice because it offers everyone his full due. And he is entitled to everything because it is his birthright as a Son of God.

Your holiness is the salvation of the world. It lets you teach the world that it is one with you, not by preaching to it, not by telling it anything, but merely by your quiet recognition that in your holiness are all things blessed along with you. (ACIM W-pI.37.1:2-6,3:1-2)

My true purpose is to accept the truth from Holy Spirit and be willing to let go of the ego’s lies. This is what A Course in Miracles calls forgiveness. As I am willing to forgive, the Holy Spirit does His part by helping me see truly. My true Identity and my brother’s true Identity are one. Letting this truth return to my mind is my practice for today.

Because Love created me like Itself, there is really only one thing I can do — extend Love. That is my true function. The reflection of that purpose in the dream of separation is forgiveness. That means my purpose is to see past all the images and forms of the world to the Love that is there. That is why an early workbook exercise tells us that God is in everything we see.

As I go through my day, my body’s eyes will show me myriad images. With the Holy Spirit’s help, I will let go of all the meanings I have given those images and see past them to the oneness of Love.
