Living A Course in Miracles — Do I Choose God’s World or the Ego’s World?

Be Vigilant Only for God and His Kingdom

Every brother you meet becomes a witness for Christ or for the ego, depending on what you perceive in him. Everyone convinces you of what you want to perceive, and of the reality of the kingdom you have chosen for your vigilance. Everything you perceive is a witness to the thought system you want to be true. Every brother has the power to release you, if you choose to be free. You cannot accept false witness of him unless you have evoked false witnesses against him. If he speaks not of Christ to you, you spoke not of Christ to him. You hear but your own voice, and if Christ speaks through you, you will hear Him.” (A Course in Miracles T-11.V.18)

If anyone or any situation disturbs our peace, it is because we have chosen the kingdom of separation. We are seeing reflected back to us the belief that separation, and therefore harm, is possible. This is why any disturbance is a signal that we need to turn to the Holy Spirit, our true Self within, and ask for help to see the Kingdom of Love in place of the kingdom of separation. When we align with our true Self, we see the Christ, the true Self of our brother. We see our Self reflected back to us and learn What we are in truth.

Today is a day of vigilance. Today is a day of willingness to be shown God’s Kingdom instead of the ego’s kingdom of separate bodies. Today is a day of letting our minds be healed of the ego’s false stories. We have all the Help we need as we are willing to be shown the truth in every situation.

Let Holy Spirit Be the Judge

Let Him be Judge as well of everything that seems to happen to you in this world. His lessons will enable you to bridge the gap between illusions and the truth.

He will remove all faith that you have placed in pain, disaster, suffering and loss. He gives you vision which can look beyond these grim appearances, and can behold the gentle face of Christ in all of them. You will no longer doubt that only good can come to you who are beloved of God, for He will judge all happenings, and teach the single lesson that they all contain.

…And you will see the love beyond the hate, the constancy in change, the pure in sin, and only Heaven’s blessing on the world.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.151.9:6-7;10:1-3;11:3)

Our practice for today is to let Holy Spirit guide all our seeing to show us the truth beyond the images of the world. With His guidance, we will see the eternal, changeless Love that is ever present beyond all appearances. As we learn to see as the Holy Spirit sees, we will learn that we remain as God created us and see His loving creation everywhere.

The way to let Holy Spirit guide begins with being willing to accept His grace… His peace… Accepting Holy Spirit’s gift of peace becomes the gateway to the holy instant, where our minds become purified of the false ego thoughts of separation which are the barriers to the awareness of Love’s presence. This is how we let Him be Judge of everything that seems to happen to us in the world.

See the Truth of Love in Everyone

Call forth in everyone only the remembrance of God, and of the Heaven that is in him. For where you would have your brother be, there will you think you are. Hear not his appeal to hell and littleness, but only his call for Heaven and greatness. Forget not that his call is yours, and answer him with me. (A Course in Miracles T-15.III.12:1-4)

Our job is to see the truth of Love in everyone. The perception of anything else is just a false image. If we identify with being a body, separate from other bodies in a world of separation, we are simply believing in a false image and will not be able to see the truth of Love anywhere. Yet within our minds, the recognition of Love is still with us. This is our true Self, the Holy Spirit.

As we let this Self guide our seeing, we will see the truth of Love in our brother and learn to recognize that it is our Self as well. As this is practiced with vigilance and diligence, we move from the littleness of belief in a separate identity to the recognition that we are one with the magnitude of God’s Love.
