Forgiveness Is a Gift to Ourselves

Illusions about yourself and the world are one. That is why all forgiveness is a gift to yourself. Your goal is to find out who you are, having denied your Identity by attacking creation and its Creator. Now you are learning how to remember the truth. For this attack must be replaced by forgiveness, so that thoughts of life may replace thoughts of death. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.62:2)

Our Creator is pure Love. We were created by Love to extend Love. Our job today and every day is to forgive, or let go of the illusions about ourselves and the world. As we forgive all thoughts of separation, the truth about ourselves returns to awareness. We are filled with a sense of peace and extend this peace to every brother. This is our function and our true source of happiness.

Remembering the Resurrection

Beyond the body, beyond the sun and stars, past everything you see and yet somehow familiar, is an arc of golden light that stretches as you look into a great and shining circle. And all the circle fills with light before your eyes. The edges of the circle disappear, and what is in it is no longer contained at all. The light expands and covers everything, extending to infinity forever shining and with no break or limit anywhere. Within it everything is joined in perfect continuity. Nor is it possible to imagine that anything could be outside, for there is nowhere that this light is not.

What is a miracle but this remembering? And who is there in whom this memory lies not? The light in one awakens it in all. And when you see it in your brother, you are remembering for everyone. (A Course in Miracles T-21.I.8;10:4-7)

We experience this resurrection as we are willing to remember the truth. Our beingness as Love is here and now. Returning to our Reality takes a willingness to forgive or let go of what is not true. We have never separated from God in truth.

We are just crucifying ourselves when we continue to hold on to the meaningless belief that separate bodies are real. Easter reminds us to allow ourselves to return to the truth. We can remember Heaven now, because we have never left Heaven. Dreaming of separation does not make it real. We accept the miracle today and remember it for everyone.

The resurrection of Jesus is a lesson that we are not a body and nothing that appears to be done to the body has any effect on our Reality as God’s Son. As we remember and accept this for ourselves, we remember and accept it for everyone.

Surrounding Me Is Perfect Safety

Father, let me remember You are here, and I am not alone. Surrounding me is everlasting Love. I have no cause for anything except the perfect peace and joy I share with You. What need have I for anger or for fear? Surrounding me is perfect safety. Can I be afraid, when Your eternal promise goes with me? Surrounding me is perfect sinlessness. What can I fear, when You created me in holiness as perfect as Your Own? (A Course in Miracles W-pII.348.1)

Whenever we attempt to make plans on our own, it is because we think these plans will help us obtain what will make us happy and safe. But if we remembered that we are always surrounded by God’s perfect safety, we would feel no need to make our own plans. We would rest content with the certainty that we have everything we need for perfect happiness. This is God’s Will for us. When we don’t experience it, we are believing in a false idea of what we are and where we are.

Our prayer for today: Father help us to see as You see, to know the truth of our brothers so that we may remember it as our own. We would see and offer only Love today.

Letting Vision Replace Judgment

Your brother’s sinlessness is given you in shining light, to look on with the Holy Spirit’s vision and to rejoice in along with Him. For peace will come to all who ask for it with real desire and sincerity of purpose, shared with the Holy Spirit and at one with Him on what salvation is. Be willing, then, to see your brother sinless, that Christ may rise before your vision and give you joy. And place no value on your brother’s body, which holds him to illusions of what he is. It is his desire to see his sinlessness, as it is yours. And bless the Son of God in your relationship, nor see in him what you have made of him. (A Course in Miracles T-20.VIII.3)

It is impossible to see anyone as a body without judgment. Yet Love does not judge. So to see a brother as a body is to look upon him without Love. This is what the ego does, because the ego is the denial of Love.

Conversely, the Holy Spirit is the Messenger of Love. His vision looks past the body to the one Self that is the Identity we share with all our brothers. To remember our Identity, we need to accept the Holy Spirit’s vision as our own. His vision is the means God has given us to awaken from the dream. We need only be willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s vision to replace the ego’s limited perception that we have called our own.

Today’s practice is to be vigilant for peace. It is in peace that the way is made for Holy Spirit’s vision to enter. In peace we remember our holiness as we see it in every brother.

Forgiveness Is the Path to Happiness

How lovely is the world whose purpose is forgiveness of God’s Son! How free from fear, how filled with blessing and with happiness! (A Course in Miracles T-29.VI.6:1-2)

Forgiveness is the key to happiness. Each time we let the past go, let go of judgment or release a grievance, we make way for greater happiness. Anything in the world that seems offensive is simply a sign of unforgiveness. The daily practice of offering every perception to the Holy Spirit and asking for help to see as He sees is the path to happiness. It is how we let go of trying to be right so that we can be happy.

Our practice today is to hold this question in mind: “How would Holy Spirit see this?” Our day will be as happy as our willingness to accept His vision. There is no limit to the joy that is ours to see.

Accepting Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Everyone’s true Identity is simple, uncomplicated Love. As we learn to see the essence of Love in everyone by asking to see as Holy Spirit sees, we are freed from the false thought system of separation. As we go to the Holy Spirit to let Him show us what is beyond our projections, we gradually lay the ego down. We see that it is not helpful to us, and brings only confusion, doubt and unhappiness.

We are ready to forgive or let go of these false ego ideas. We are willing to let the Light of truth in our minds gently lead us out of our illusions of separate bodies. We are willing to return to the truth of simple, uncomplicated Love. We are willing to remember that we are still as God created us. We are perfect Love and nothing else. As we accept our true Identity, we extend only the Love we are.

Let Holy Spirit Guide in Each Moment

The ego mind thinks that it is the boss. It resists the suggestion to step back and follow because it fears loss of control. It is insulted by the implication that it knows nothing and does not know how to solve problems on its own. That is why our growing willingness to let Holy Spirit guide us each moment is so important.

The Holy Spirit is in our minds in each present moment, patiently waiting to guide us to freedom from the tyranny of the ego mind. Today’s practice is to go to Holy Spirit with “every apprehension, every care and every form of suffering.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.193.13:4)

As we allow ourselves to recognize when we are not at peace and step back and follow, instead of thinking we know on our own, we make life easier for ourselves. We let the Holy Spirit remove the unconscious barriers we are placing before us on our journey Home. The Holy Spirit knows how to remove the barriers and smooth the pathway Home. Today our highest priority is to let Holy Spirit guide in each moment.
