Identifying with Christ, Our True Self

Jesus is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, Whom he called down upon the earth after he ascended into Heaven, or became completely identified with the Christ, the Son of God as He created Him. ²The Holy Spirit, being a creation of the one Creator, creating with Him and in His likeness or spirit, is eternal and has never changed. ³He was “called down upon the earth” in the sense that it was now possible to accept Him and to hear His Voice. ⁴His is the Voice for God, and has therefore taken form. ⁵This form is not His reality, which God alone knows along with Christ, His real Son, Who is part of Him.

²He has established Jesus as the leader in carrying out His plan since he was the first to complete his own part perfectly. ³All power in Heaven and earth is therefore given him and he will share it with you when you have completed yours.

You are [the Holy Spirit’s] manifestation in this world. ²Your brother calls to you to be His Voice along with him. ³Alone he cannot be the Helper of God’s Son for he alone is functionless. ⁴But joined with you he is the shining Savior of the world, Whose part in its redemption you have made complete. ⁵[The Holy Spirit] offers thanks to you as well as him for you arose with him when he began to save the world. (A Course in Miracles, C-6.1;2:2-3;5:1-5)

We ascend into Heaven when we completely identify with Christ, the Son of God. No part of our mind seeks anything other than to be part of the eternal giving and receiving of God’s Love. We celebrate Christ today by welcoming the presence of Love within and giving It to all without limit. This is our part in the salvation of the world.

We join with the Holy Spirit in our mind to see the truth of Love in every brother. Love does not judge whether anyone is worthy, for It sees only the truth in everyone. Love sees only Love.

Let’s join to celebrate the presence of Christ in our mind by accepting the Holy Spirit’s help to let go of beliefs that seem to separate us from our brothers. Without those interfering beliefs, the giving and receiving of Love flows freely and we remember the Heaven that is our Home.

Being Messengers of Good Will

My true Identity abides in You.

Father, I made an image of myself, and it is this I call the Son of God. ²Yet is creation as it always was, for Your creation is unchangeable. ³Let me not worship idols. ⁴I am he my Father loves. ⁵My holiness remains the light of Heaven and the Love of God. ⁶Is not what is beloved of You secure? ⁷Is not the light of Heaven infinite? ⁸Is not Your Son my true Identity, when You created everything that is?

Now are we one in shared Identity, with God our Father as our only Source, and everything created part of us. ²And so we offer blessing to all things, uniting lovingly with all the world, which our forgiveness has made one with us. (A Course in Miracles, W-283. See also ACIM Lesson 283 Insights.)

We bring peace and good will to all the world by being our true Self as God created us. The most natural thing in all the universe is to be and extend Love because only Love is real.

When we judge, feel guilty or experience fear, we have replaced our true Identity with a false image in a dream that could never be true. In this loveless dream, everyone is hungry for Love. The greatest gift we can give ourselves and the world is to accept God’s gift of all His Love. This is how we awaken to our true Identity.

While we believe the dream is real, we need to lift the veil that hides the presence of Love by forgiving our mistaken beliefs in lovelessness. We do not do this alone. The Holy Spirit is with us. His function is to help us recognize and release our false beliefs. With this release we join in the eternal giving and receiving of Love. Each time we lift a veil of mistaken belief, we bring the message of peace on earth and goodwill toward all mankind.

Love and Justice Are the Same

⁵In God’s Own justice does [the Holy Spirit] recognize all you deserve, but understands as well that you cannot accept it for yourself. ⁶It is His special function to hold out to you the gifts the innocent deserve. ⁷And every one that you accept brings joy to Him as well as you. ⁸He knows that Heaven is richer made by each [gift of innocence] you accept. ⁹And God rejoices as His Son receives what loving justice knows to be his due. ¹⁰For love and justice are not different. ¹¹Because they are the same does mercy stand at God’s right Hand, and gives the Son of God the power to forgive himself of sin.

You have the right to all the universe; to perfect peace, complete deliverance from all effects of sin, and to the life eternal, joyous and complete in every way, as God appointed for His holy Son. ²This is the only justice Heaven knows, and all the Holy Spirit brings to earth. ³Your special function shows you nothing else but perfect justice can prevail for you. ⁴And you are safe from vengeance in all forms. ⁵The world deceives, but it cannot replace God’s justice with a version of its own. ⁶For only love is just, and can perceive what justice must accord the Son of God. ⁷Let love decide, and never fear that you, in your unfairness, will deprive yourself of what God’s justice has allotted you. Love does not condemn nor demand punishment. The Love that is our true Self dismisses the ego’s antics as meaningless. Any appearance in the world that the ego deems punishable, Love sees only as a call for Love. Being just, Love answers every call for Love with Love.

With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can let go of the ego’s habit of condemning and punishing. As we let Love guide our thoughts and perceptions, our world is transformed. Instead of dangers that must be defended against, Love sees joyous opportunities to join with Itself in every brother. In the glad exchange of Love, peace replaces conflict. We remember our true Self.

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to help us be messengers of Love and justice, for we would remember our innocence as God’s Son.

Remembering Who We Are

God goes with me wherever I go.

²How can I be alone when God always goes with me? ³How can I be doubtful and unsure of myself when perfect certainty abides in Him? ⁴How can I be disturbed by anything when He rests in me in absolute peace? ⁵How can I suffer when love and joy surround me through Him? ⁶Let me not cherish illusions about myself. ⁷I am perfect because God goes with me wherever I go.

God is my strength. ²Vision is His gift.

³Let me not look to my own eyes to see today. ⁴Let me be willing to exchange my pitiful illusion of seeing for the vision that is given by God. ⁵Christ’s vision is His gift, and He has given it to me. ⁶Let me call upon this gift today, so that this day may help me to understand eternity. It is time to stop denying God’s gifts. This denial has caused us to be doubtful, unsure of ourself and fearful in a world of uncertainty. It has caused us to see false images in the world in place of seeing the presence of Love that Christ’s vision shows us. All this comes with the quest for specialness.

When we become willing to accept God’s gift of all of Himself, we remember the certainty, safety and comfort that is ours in the Home that God created for us with His Love. We need to be willing to let go of our mistaken wish for specialness. It does not lead to anything we really want.

With willingness to welcome the vision of Christ, we see that we are indeed surrounded by God’s Love. We see It in every brother and remember It is in our true Self as well. God’s peace and happiness replaces the struggle that comes when we try to find it in specialness. It is not there to be found. God’s joy and peace need only be accepted to be known. In this acceptance we remember Who we are. We know we are safe and we are loved. We are Home eternally.

Include Everyone in Our Circle of Love

The only part of your mind that has reality is the part that links you still with God. ²Would you have all of [your mind] transformed into a radiant message of God’s Love, to share with all the lonely ones who have denied Him? ³God makes this possible. …⁸Leave the world of death behind, and return quietly to Heaven. ⁹There is nothing of value here, and everything of value there. ¹⁰Listen to the Holy Spirit, and to God through Him. ¹¹He speaks of you to you. ¹²There is no guilt in you, for God is blessed in His Son as the Son is blessed in Him.

Everyone has a special part to play in the Atonement, but the message given to each one is always the same; God’s Son is guiltless. ²Each one teaches the message differently, and learns it differently. ³Yet until he teaches it and learns it, he will suffer the pain of dim awareness that his true function remains unfulfilled in him. ⁴The burden of guilt is heavy, but God would not have you bound by it. ⁵His plan for your awaking is as perfect as yours is fallible. ⁶You know not what you do, but He Who knows is with you. ⁷His gentleness is yours, and all the love you share with God He holds in trust for you. ⁸He would teach you nothing except how to be happy.

God gave us all of His peace, His joy and His Love. If we are not experiencing this, we are in some way denying His gift. We are not fulfilling our function to extend the gift He has given,

Are we willing to give up our addiction to judgment and guilt? We pay a steep price for this addiction—lack of peace, unhappiness, loneliness and a sense of not being loved. This is of our own making.

It is not God’s Will for us.

We join with our brothers today with willingness to fulfill our function—to lay down our judgments and be God’s messengers by including every brother in His circle of Love.

Letting Love’s Light Shine in Our Mind

Can you imagine how beautiful those you forgive will look to you? ²In no fantasy have you ever seen anything so lovely. ³Nothing you see here, sleeping or waking, comes near to such loveliness. ⁴And nothing will you value like unto this, nor hold so dear. ⁵Nothing that you remember that made your heart sing with joy has ever brought you even a little part of the happiness this sight will bring you. ⁶For you will see the Son of God. ⁷You will behold the beauty the Holy Spirit loves to look upon, and which He thanks the Father for. ⁸He was created to see this for you, until you learned to see [the forgiven world] for yourself. ⁹And all His teaching leads to seeing it and giving thanks with Him.

This loveliness is not a fantasy. ²It is the real world,…

The real world is attained simply by the complete forgiveness of the old, the world you see without forgiveness. ²The great Transformer of perception will undertake with you the careful searching of the mind that made this world, and uncover to you the seeming reasons for your making it. ³In the light of the real reason that He brings, as you follow Him, He will show you that there is no reason here at all. ⁴Each spot His reason touches grows alive with beauty, and what seemed ugly in the darkness of your lack of reason is suddenly released to loveliness. ⁵Not even what the Son of God made in insanity could be without a hidden spark of beauty that gentleness could release. When we choose specialness instead of the oneness of God’s Love, it is like turning off a light switch. Our world goes dark because we become blind to the Light of Love. We fill the darkness with a dream of illusions that makes separation seem real. This dream is the consequence of denying Love’s presence. The exquisite beauty of Love’s radiant Light is lost to us. Though we turned off the light, the Source of the Light is not gone.

We cannot find the light switch in the darkness on our own. But the Holy Spirit in our mind is there to help us turn the Light of Love back on. We need only be willing to follow Love’s lead. With His help we learn to see the truth again and awaken to Love.

Today we choose to leave the darkness behind and accept His help to forgive our mistaken beliefs. We offer all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His kind and gentle correction. We make way for the star of Love to shine again in our holy mind.

Singing a Song of Joy to the World

You cannot forget the Father because I am with you, and I cannot forget Him. ²To forget me is to forget yourself and Him Who created you. ³Our brothers are forgetful. ⁴That is why they need your remembrance of me and of Him Who created me. ⁵Through this remembrance, you can change their minds about themselves, as I can change yours. ⁶Your mind is so powerful a light that you can look into [their mind] and enlighten them, as I can enlighten yours. …I do want to share my mind with you because we are of one Mind, and that Mind is ours. ¹⁰See only this Mind everywhere, because only this is everywhere and in everything. ¹¹It is everything because it encompasses all things within itself. ¹²Blessed are you who perceive only this, because you perceive only what is true.

Come therefore unto me, and learn of the truth in you. ²The mind we share is shared by all our brothers, and as we see them truly they will be healed. ³Let your mind shine with mine upon their minds, and by our gratitude to them make them aware of the light in them. ⁴This light will shine back upon you and on the whole Sonship, because this is your proper gift to God. ⁵He will accept it and give it to the Sonship, because it is acceptable to Him and therefore to His Sons. ⁶This is true communion with the Holy Spirit, Who sees the altar of God in everyone, and by bringing it to your appreciation, He calls upon you to love God and His creation. ⁷You can appreciate the Sonship only as one. ⁸This is part of the law of creation, and therefore governs all thought. In this season of giving, we ponder the one gift we can give that is unlimited and eternal. It is God’s gift of Love, which we must share to know the Love we are. Only our wish for specialness interferes with the free flow of God’s Love through us. We seek the Holy Spirit’s help to let go of the mistaken beliefs that seem to separate us from the Love we share with our brothers.

When we focus on the Love that is our brother, we shine a Light into his mind to help him recognize the Love he is. That Light is reflected back to our mind as we join together in our gratitude and appreciation for God’s gift of all of His Love.

Today we let Love guide our thoughts, words and actions. Our hearts are filled with kindness and appreciation as they overflow with the joy of giving and receiving Love. We join the angels as we sing a song of joy to the world.
