Our Mission Is to Be Loving

Listen, and hear your Father speak to you through His appointed Voice, which silences the thunder of the meaningless, and shows the way to peace to those who cannot see. ²Be still today and listen to the truth.

Be not afraid today to circumvent the voices of the world. ²Walk lightly past their meaningless persuasion. ³Hear them not. ⁴Be still today and listen to the truth. ⁵Go past all things which do not speak of Him Who holds your happiness within His Hand, held out to you in welcome and in love. ⁶Hear only Him today, and do not wait to reach Him longer. ⁷Hear one Voice today.

…begin with this request for your enlightenment:

⁵I will be still and listen to the truth.
⁶What does it mean to give and to receive?

Ask and expect an answer. ²Your request is one whose answer has been waiting long to be received by you. ³It will begin the ministry for which you came, and which will free the world from thinking giving is a way to lose. ⁴And so the world becomes ready to understand and to receive. Throughout the Course we are told that, as God’s Son, we are Love and nothing else. This is what His Voice speaks to us without interruption. But we must be willing to listen to hear His Truth. Our ministry is to teach only Love, for that is What we are.

We teach by our actions, thoughts and words. To teach Love, we must let go of our judgments which deny Love. This is why we must practice forgiveness all day, every day. This practice opens our mind to accept God’s Love. This is the truth His Voice speaks to us in stillness.

As we let ourselves experience His Love by giving It to others, we fulfill our mission. We live in peace and happiness as Love guides all our doing.

Christmas Celebrates Our One Self

Today we offer thanks that Christ has come to search the world for what belongs to Him. ²His vision sees no strangers, but beholds His Own and joyously unites with them. ³They see Him as a stranger, for they do not recognize themselves. ⁴Yet as they give Him welcome, they remember. ⁵And He leads them gently home again, where they belong.

Not one does Christ forget. ²Not one He fails to give you to remember, that your home may be complete and perfect as it was established. ³He has not forgotten you. ⁴But you will not remember Him until you look on all as He does. ⁵Who denies his brother is denying Him, and thus refusing to accept the gift of sight by which his Self is clearly recognized, his home remembered and salvation come. Christ is our true Self, the one Self that unites us with every brother and with God. As we accept our true Self, we recognize the Love in everyone. Our vision is clear, not clouded by illusions of separation. The Christ in us sees Himself in everyone and joins with them. The recognition of Christ in us is the acceptance of God’s gift of all of Himself.

This time of celebrating Christmas is the celebration of our one Self. This recognition is the only gift worthy of God’s Son, for it is the gift that was given Him in his creation.

Today we practice seeing with the eyes of Love. With that vision, we welcome the Self at one with our Creator.

How to Accept God’s Gifts as Our Own

I am as God created me.

This single thought, held firmly in the mind, would save the world. …⁴These words are sacred, for they are the words God gave in answer to the world you made.

Here is the Word by which the Son became his Father’s happiness, His Love and His completion. ²Here creation is proclaimed, and honored as it is. ³There is no dream these words will not dispel; no thought of sin and no illusion which the dream contains that will not fade away before their might.

Holy indeed is he who makes these words his own; arising with them in his mind, recalling them throughout the day, at night bringing them with him as he goes to sleep. ²His dreams are happy and his rest secure, his safety certain and his body healed, because he sleeps and wakens with the truth before him always. We are being asked to change our mind about what we believe is our identity. We have been told that God did not create the body. Reminding ourselves that we are as God created us is accepting the reality of our Self, which remains united with our Creator.

God is our Home. We dwell in His peace and His Love. We share His joy. The more we hold the thought that we are as God created us, the dream of separate bodies with separate minds in the world fades. We all seek for love and happiness. This thought has the power to restore perfect peace, happiness and Love to our mind.

The practice of affirming, “I am as God created me” to ourselves accepts God’s gifts as our own.

With a Quiet Mind We Remember Our True Self

Let this day be a day of stillness and of quiet listening. ²Your Father wills you hear His Word today. ³He calls to you from deep within your mind where He abides. ⁴Hear Him today. ⁵No peace is possible until His Word is heard around the world; until your mind, in quiet listening, accepts the message that the world must hear to usher in the quiet time of peace.

This world will change through you. ²No other means can save it, for God’s plan is simply this: The Son of God is free to save himself, given the Word of God to be his Guide, forever in his mind and at his side to lead him surely to his Father’s house by his own will, forever free as God’s. ³He is not led by force, but only love. ⁴He is not judged, but only sanctified.

In stillness we will hear God’s Voice today without intrusion of our petty thoughts, without our personal desires, and without all judgment of His holy Word. ²We will not judge ourselves today, for what we are can not be judged. ³We stand apart from all the judgments which the world has laid upon the Son of God. ⁴It knows him not. ⁵Today we will not listen to the world, but wait in silence for the Word of God. We are never alone. No matter how deeply we sink into the dream of separation, with its thoughts of isolation, vulnerability and need to defend, we still remain safe in the loving Mind of God. He has not forgotten us. Though we have rejected His Love, His Voice remains with us to guide us gently to awaken to the Love we are.

The ego speaks loudly and incessantly of our need to search for safety and happiness. But it leads us to look where these cannot be found. It is time to quiet our mind. As we set aside the cacophony of the ego’s chatter, we let our mind return to the singular thought of Love’s oneness. We remember we are God’s Son, one with Him in Love. We have not lost His Voice, but we do need to let go of the ego’s noise to hear the Voice speak of the joy and peace we share with God.

His Will is ours. In quiet we remember our Self Who is the Son of God.

Awakening to the Heaven of God’s Love

My body is a wholly neutral thing.

I am a Son of God. ²And can I be another thing as well? ³Did God create the mortal and corruptible? ⁴What use has God’s beloved Son for what must die? ⁵And yet a neutral thing does not see death, for thoughts of fear are not invested there, nor is a mockery of love bestowed upon it. ⁶Its neutrality protects it while it has a use. ⁷And afterwards, without a purpose, it is laid aside. ⁸It is not sick nor old nor hurt. ⁹It is but functionless, unneeded and cast off. ¹⁰Let me not see it more than this today; of service for a while and fit to serve, to keep its usefulness while it can serve, and then to be replaced for greater good.

My body, Father, cannot be Your Son. ²And what is not created cannot be sinful nor sinless; neither good nor bad. ³Let me, then, use this dream to help Your plan that we awaken from all dreams we made. (A Course in Miracles, W-294. See also ACIM Lesson 294 Insights.)

The body is an image in the ego’s dream of specialness. In its dream the body is our identity. It must be protected against myriad external threats. Yet it is only a dream image. All dream images disappear when we waken.

God has a different plan for the body. Instead of using it to maintain the illusion of separation, it is used only as a helpful tool to awaken from the dream. We are told to ask, “What is it for?” In God’s plan, it is always used to lead us to awaken. This is its only meaningful purpose, for it leads us to remembering that we are Love and nothing else, like our Creator.

The Love we are sees only Love in everyone, for It recognizes everyone as brother, with Love as our Father. As we learn to see the Love that is our brother, we recognize the Love we are.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see with the eyes of Love. We want to recognize our brothers for What they are in truth — extensions of God’s Love. With this recognition, we awaken from the dream of fear to the Heaven of God’s Love.

Choosing to Be the Love We Are

It cannot be that it is hard to do the task that Christ appointed you to do, since it is He Who does it. And in the doing of it will you learn the body merely seems to be the means to do it. For the Mind is [Christ’s]. And so it must be yours. His Holiness directs the body through the mind at one with Him.

How can you manifest the Christ in you except to look on holiness and see Him there? …Set in [your brother’s] holiness, the Christ in him proclaims Himself as you.

Perception is a choice of what you want yourself to be; the world you want to live in, and the state in which you think your mind will be content and satisfied. It chooses where you think your safety lies, at your decision. It reveals yourself to you as you would have you be. …Perception is a part of what it is your purpose to behold, for means and end are never separate. And thus you learn what seems to have a life apart has none.

Our function is to see the Christ, the Son of God, in every brother. This is how we manifest the Christ. As we learn to see the Christ in every brother, we learn of the Christ in us. Our perception reflects back to us the truth of What we are, when we perceive Him in our brother.

What we perceive teaches us what we are. Our perception is determined by the goal we seek. If our goal is to be separate, our perception teaches us that separation is real. If our goal is to perceive the Truth in our brother, our perception teaches us we are one in the Christ That is the Truth in every brother.

In every moment we choose the goal we seek. Today let us join with our brothers in the one goal that teaches us we are God’s Son, complete and whole, united with our Father in the oneness of His Love.

Remembering the Peace Within

Light and joy and peace abide in me.

²I am the home of light and joy and peace. ³I welcome them into the home I share with God, because I am a part of Him.

I am as God created me.

²I will remain forever as I was, created by the Changeless like Himself. ³And I am one with Him, and He with me. (A Course in Miracles, W-112.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 112 Insights.)

When we believe the dream in which we are a body is real, it does not seem that light and joy and peace abide in us. Our belief in the dream stands as a barrier against experiencing our Reality.

But when we accept that we are as God created us, we see a different world. We do not give creedance to the body and what it seems to see. Our true Self sees only with the eyes of Love. These eyes are not physical. They are the eyes of Christ, which sees only the Reality of Love. This is the Light in which we see truly.

Today we are called to forgive the wish that made the dream of separation. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can remember we are the Self God created forever one with Himself. We are thankful that we have His help to awaken from the dream and remember we are forever one with our Creator.
