Reversing Our Denial of God’s Love

Father, my freedom is in You alone.

I did not understand what made me free, nor what my freedom is, nor where to look to find it. ²Father, I have searched in vain until I heard Your Voice directing me. ³Now I would guide myself no more. ⁴For I have neither made nor understood the way to find my freedom. ⁵But I trust in You. ⁶You Who endowed me with my freedom as Your holy Son will not be lost to me. ⁷Your Voice directs me, and the way to You is opening and clear to me at last. ⁸Father, my freedom is in You alone. ⁹Father, it is my will that I return.

Today we answer for the world, which will be freed along with us. ²How glad are we to find our freedom through the certain way our Father has established. ³And how sure is all the world’s salvation, when we learn our freedom can be found in God alone. The body is a limit, made to show us a world of limitation. It all represents the denial of Love’s oneness. To be truly free is to know that we are Love and nothing else. It is to join in the eternal flow of Love extending to Itself. This is why our only true freedom can be found in our acceptance of our union with God.

We have been given the Holy Spirit to help us wake up from the hellish dream that denies Love. We are grateful to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to recognize the images of the dream as meaningless and powerless.

In our acceptance of this, the world is healed, along with ourselves. We see a world of Love. We are grateful for God’s blessing.

The Miracle Corrects Our Perception

A miracle is a correction. ²It does not create, nor really change at all. ³It merely looks on devastation, and reminds the mind that what it sees is false. ⁴It undoes error, but does not attempt to go beyond perception, nor exceed the function of forgiveness. ⁵Thus [a miracle] stays within time’s limits. ⁶Yet it paves the way for the return of timelessness and love’s awakening, for fear must slip away under the gentle remedy it brings.

³A miracle inverts perception which was upside down before, and thus it ends the strange distortions that were manifest. ⁴Now is perception open to the truth. ⁵Now is forgiveness seen as justified.

Forgiveness is the home of miracles. ²The eyes of Christ deliver them to all they look upon in mercy and in love. ³Perception stands corrected in His sight, and what was meant to curse has come to bless. ⁴Each lily of forgiveness offers all the world the silent miracle of love. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.13.1;2:3-5;3:1-4)

While we are invested in our belief in separation, our perceptions are so distorted that we cannot see the truth of Love’s presence. These distortions justify our fear and anger; our sense of loss and feelings of guilt.

The miracle clears the distortion. The reality of Love’s presence becomes clear. In this clarity, forgiveness is justified because we recognize our misperceptions are only errors. With the clarity that the miracle brings, the error is corrected. In this clarity we see that nothing has harmed or changed God’s Son. He remains Love and nothing else in His eternal union with His Creator.

We ask the Holy Spirit for His vision to help us experience the miracle that makes way for true forgiveness.

Accepting God’s Answer to Our Call

Sickness is but another name for sin.
Healing is but another name for God.
The miracle is thus a call to Him.

Father, You promised You would never fail to answer any call Your Son might make to You. ²It does not matter where he is, what seems to be his problem, nor what he believes he has become. ³He is Your Son, and You will answer him. ⁴The miracle reflects Your Love, and thus it answers him. ⁵Your Name replaces every thought of sin, and who is sinless cannot suffer pain. ⁶Your Name gives answer to Your Son, because to call Your Name is but to call his own. (W-356)

Our only problem is our wish for specialness, which could only seem to occur in a world separate from God. Such a world could never be real so we can only experience it in dreams. In the dream we forget our eternal unity with our Father. Awakening means remembering that we remain His Son, at one with Him.

Our thoughts of separation are calls for Love. Our Father answers our calls for Love in every moment. While we believe the dream is real, we do not hear our Father’s answer. By the grace of God, we have the Holy Spirit in our mind, Who can translate God’s Answer into forms we can understand.

He helps us recognize our misperceptions and provides true perception in their place. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we forgive our misperceptions and welcome the Love we have been denying. We let our mind be healed. We remember God and our true Self, His Son.

Our True Self Lights the World with Love

²The purpose of the world you see is to obscure your function of forgiveness, and provide you with a justification for forgetting it.

Nothing the body’s eyes seem to see can be anything but a form of temptation, since this was the purpose of the body itself. ²Yet we have learned that the Holy Spirit has another use for all the illusions you have made, and therefore He sees another purpose in them. ³To the Holy Spirit, the world is a place where you learn to forgive yourself what you think of as your sins. ⁴In this perception, the physical appearance of temptation becomes the spiritual recognition of salvation.

…your function here is to be the light of the world, a function given you by God. …³The world’s salvation awaits your forgiveness, because through it does the Son of God escape from all illusions, and thus from all temptation. ⁴The Son of God is you.

²Let me not forget my function.
³Let me not try to substitute mine for God’s.
⁴Let me forgive and be happy. (W-64.1:2;2;3:1,3-4;6:2-4)

The truth in us lights the world with Love. But by accepting an identity as a body, we have covered the Light. Thus our function in the world is to forgive our mistaken belief in a false identity. That false identity simply represents the wish to be separate and special.

Today we choose to accept our only meaningful function in the world — to forgive our misperceptions and mistaken beliefs. We are grateful that the Holy Spirit is with us to guide us to true forgiveness. He will help us see the Love we are and share it with the world.

An Open Mind Brings Blessing to the World

God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

Let us today attend the Voice for God, which speaks an ancient lesson, no more true today than any other day. ²Yet has this day been chosen as the time when we will seek and hear and learn and understand. ³Join me in hearing. ⁴For the Voice for God tells us of things we cannot understand alone, nor learn apart. ⁵It is in this that all things are protected. ⁶And in this the healing of the Voice for God is found.

Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. ²I need be anxious over nothing. ³For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. ⁴The safety that I bring is given me. ⁵Father, Your Voice protects all things through me. Our insistence on being a unique individual stands between us and our acceptance of our true Self. We hear and see what we want to hear and see. The Voice for God tells us we are not different. We are in fact one with our Creator and every brother.

Today we remind ourselves to keep our mind open to the Voice for God. A mind that is open has not predetermined what is real. It is willing to be taught the truth. It is willing to accept the oneness of Love. As we welcome His Voice, we learn to see our brothers as one with us. We feel our safety in the changelessness of Love. We embrace our brothers in that safety. We are blessed as we bring Love’s blessing to the world.

How to Have a Year of Joy

This is a year of joy, in which your listening will increase and peace will grow with its increase. ²The power of holiness and the weakness of attack are both being brought into your awareness. …whenever you listened to His interpretation the results have brought you joy. ⁶Would you prefer the results of your interpretation, considering honestly what they have been? ⁷God wills you better. ⁸Could you not look with greater charity on whom God loves with perfect Love?

⁵Today, let us resolve together to accept the joyful tidings that disaster is not real and that reality is not disaster. ⁶Reality is safe and sure, and wholly kind to everyone and everything. ⁷There is no greater love than to accept this and be glad. ⁸For love asks only that you be happy, and will give you everything that makes for happiness.

You have never given any problem to the Holy Spirit He has not solved for you, nor will you ever do so. ²You have never tried to solve anything yourself and been successful. …⁷This year invest in truth, and let it work in peace. ⁸Have faith in Him Who has faith in you. The key to joy is to listen to our true Self, the Holy Spirit, in all aspects of our lives. He will show us the true meaning behind all appearances. Love is the only true meaning and Its aspects are peace and happiness. Our true Self is our Reality.

Listening to the Source of truth in our mind requires that we pause to disengage from our involvement in our perceptions of the world. We disengage as we welcome the peace of God within us. As we let peace come into our minds, the Voice of our true Self comes through more clearly; the ego’s interpretations fade and we let Christ’s vision show us the presence of Love everywhere. This is how we will make this a year of joy.

Forgiveness Brings Happiness

The Holy Spirit, ever practical in His wisdom, accepts your dreams and uses them as means for waking. ²You would have used them to remain asleep. ³I said before that the first change, before dreams disappear, is that your dreams of fear are changed to happy dreams. ⁴That is what the Holy Spirit does in the special relationship. ⁵He does not destroy it, nor snatch it away from you. ⁶But He does use it differently, as a help to make His purpose real to you. ⁷The special relationship will remain, not as a source of pain and guilt, but as a source of joy and freedom. ⁸It will not be for you alone, for therein lay its misery. ⁹As its unholiness kept it a thing apart, its holiness will become an offering to everyone.

Your special relationship will be a means for undoing guilt in everyone blessed through your holy relationship. ²It will be a happy dream, and one which you will share with all who come within your sight.

⁴In your relationship the Holy Spirit has gently laid the real world; the world of happy dreams, from which awaking is so easy and so natural. ⁵For as your sleeping and your waking dreams represent the same wishes in your mind, so do the real world and the truth of Heaven join in the Will of God. ⁶The dream of waking is easily transferred to its reality. ⁷For this dream reflects your will joined with the Will of God. ⁸And what this Will would have accomplished has never not been done. God’s Will is always to be Love. His Love extends without limit. As His Son, His extension of Love, our true Will is to be and extend Love.

Our dreams of limitation and individuality seem real only because we picture a world of separation. We make this dream because it seems to offer us specialness that allows us to keep something we have as our own. These are not happy dreams because we have to constantly defend our specialness.

The way to awaken from our dreams is to forgive the wish for specialness. The Holy Spirit is our Guide to help us recognize the wishes that separate us, and let them go. This forgiveness makes way for the Love of our true Self to shine through.

As we forgive, we experience greater peace, happiness and Love. Our forgiving dream becomes a demonstration that helps all our brothers join us in the happy dream. In this happy dream, our will is joined with God’s to be only Love. Today we choose to forgive and be happy.
