The Only Way to Find Lasting Peace

Forgiveness lets me know that minds are joined.

Forgiveness is the means appointed for perception’s ending. ²Knowledge is restored after perception first is changed, and then gives way entirely to what remains forever past its highest reach. ³For sights and sounds, at best, can serve but to recall the memory that lies beyond them all. ⁴Forgiveness sweeps away distortions, and opens the hidden altar to the truth. ⁵Its lilies shine into the mind, and call it to return and look within, to find what it has vainly sought without. ⁶For here, and only here, is peace of mind restored, for this the dwelling place of God Himself.

In quiet may forgiveness wipe away my dreams of separation and of sin. ²Then let me, Father, look within, and find Your promise of my sinlessness is kept; Your Word remains unchanged within my mind, Your Love is still abiding in my heart. The ego believes that it can find peace by arranging an outside world to its liking. This attitude affects all its relationships, its actions and what it says. If it can’t find it easily, it is willing to turn to violence to find the peace it seeks. But as always, the underlying ego principle of seek and do not find leaves the ego unsatisfied.

The means to find our desired peace does not lie in changing an external world, because it Is not real. The peace we seek is already in us. We find this peace by forgiving the wish for specialness, for seeing differences and being separate. With forgiveness, barriers to Love’s presence are laid down. The door is opened to the Love our Creator gave us. In Love’s oneness, we find the only real peace.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us forgive our mistaken beliefs and find the peace of God.

Remembering That Only Love Is Real

I can attack but my own sinlessness, and it is only that which keeps me safe.

“Father, Your Son is holy. ²I am he on whom You smile in love and tenderness so dear and deep and still the universe smiles back on You, and shares Your Holiness. ³How pure, how safe, how holy, then, are we, abiding in Your Smile, with all Your Love bestowed upon us, living one with You, in brotherhood and Fatherhood complete; in sinlessness so perfect that the Lord of Sinlessness conceives us as His Son, a universe of Thought completing Him.

Let us not, then, attack our sinlessness, for it contains the Word of God to us. ²And in its kind reflection we are saved. (A Course in Miracles,W-341. See also ACIM Lesson 341 Insights.)

Every judgment the ego makes justifies guilt. It is this effect that keeps us believing we are separate from each other. This belief needs to be forgiven. As we forgive our judgments, we open the door for Holy Spirit’s one judgment that frees us from our own condemnation. He simply says our perceptions are not true because they are based on illusions. Only the truth of Love is real.

Today we choose Christ’s vision, which sees the truth of Love that is our reality. We are grateful for the gift of God’s Voice, which speaks to us of our eternal unity with all of God’s Creation.

The Path That Leads Us to Love

My eyes, my tongue, my hands, my feet today have but one purpose; to be given Christ to use to bless the world with miracles.

Father, I give all that is mine today to Christ, to use in any way that best will serve the purpose that I share with Him. ²Nothing is mine alone, for He and I have joined in purpose. ³Thus has learning come almost to its appointed end. ⁴A while I work with Him to serve His purpose. ⁵Then I lose myself in my Identity, and recognize that Christ is but my Self. Our true Self is Christ, God’s one Son. We are being called to give to our Christ Self all our resources to support our awakening to the Love we are. While the body was made as a limit on our Identity, it can be given a holy purpose. We choose our holy mission today.

We choose to let the Voice for God be our Guide for our thoughts and actions. As we follow His Guidance, we will discover the truth of our Identity. It is a choice to follow the path that leads us Home, where we live in perfect peace and happiness.

How to Claim Our True Identity

We stand together, Christ and I, in peace and certainty of purpose. And in Him is His Creator, as He is in me.

My oneness with the Christ establishes me as Your Son, beyond the reach of time, and wholly free of every law but Yours. ²I have no self except the Christ in me. ³I have no purpose but His Own. ⁴And He is like His Father. ⁵Thus must I be one with You as well as Him. ⁶For who is Christ except Your Son as You created Him? ⁷And what am I except the Christ in me? Now is the time to claim our true Identity. Our Identity is not defined by the past, or what might be in the future. Love is now and always. It never changes and can only be accepted now in the present moment. While we believe we live in time, the eternal present in unknown to us. But we can forgive the past and free ourselves to welcome the eternal Identity God created as His Son.

We have the Holy Spirit ever ready to guide us to the full recognition of Love’s presence. We need only be willing to accept His guidance to forgive the past and accept eternal Love now. This is how we accept God’s gift to His one Son.

How to Find Peace in the World

My sinless brother is my guide to peace. My sinful brother is my guide to pain. And which I choose to see I will behold.

Who is my brother but Your holy Son? ²And if I see him sinful I proclaim myself a sinner, not a Son of God; alone and friendless in a fearful world. ³Yet this perception is a choice I make, and can relinquish. ⁴I can also see my brother sinless, as Your holy Son. ⁵And with this choice I see my sinlessness, my everlasting Comforter and Friend beside me, and my way secure and clear. ⁶Choose, then, for me, my Father, through Your Voice. ⁷For He alone gives judgment in Your Name. Today can be a happy day if we choose to see our brother as the Love he is. As we see him, we see ourselves. The Love we are in truth is eternally united with every brother as God’s one Son.

We have the opportunity throughout this day to let God’s Voice teach us to see the truth of Love beyond appearances. This is how we bring healing to the world. This is how our mind is healed of mistaken beliefs that show us conflict instead of unity. This is how we find peace.

Forgiveness Welcomes God’s Love

Miracles mirror God’s eternal Love. To offer them is to remember Him, and through His memory to save the world.

What we forgive becomes a part of us, as we perceive ourselves. ²The Son of God incorporates all things within himself as You created him. ³Your memory depends on his forgiveness. ⁴What he is, is unaffected by his thoughts. ⁵But what he looks upon is their direct result. ⁶Therefore, my Father, I would turn to You. ⁷Only Your memory will set me free. ⁸And only my forgiveness teaches me to let Your memory return to me, and give it to the world in thankfulness.

And as we gather miracles from Him, we will indeed be grateful. ²For as we remember Him, His Son will be restored to us in the reality of Love. (A Course in Miracles, W-350. See also ACIM Lesson 350 Insights.)

We need to forgive the beliefs that are a defense against Love’s oneness. Forgiveness unites us with Love. In reality, there is nothing to forgive. In the dream of denial, forgiveness is Love’s mirror. While we believe we are a body, we focus on perception of what seems to be external. When we forgive, the Love that is our brother is reflected back to us.

Forgiveness is a way of saying: “I accept God’s gift of Love.” This acceptance returns the memory of God to our mind. Today we welcome His Love and let the Holy Spirit help us overlook the false barriers to see the Love that is everywhere. In Love we find peace and joy.

The Choice to Listen to God’s Voice

A sense of separation from God is the only lack you really need correct. ²This sense of separation would never have arisen if you had not distorted your perception of truth, and had thus perceived yourself as lacking.

The real purpose of this world is to use it to correct your unbelief. ²You can never control the effects of fear yourself, because you made fear, and you believe in what you made.

³In sorting out the false from the true, the miracle proceeds along these lines:

⁴Perfect love casts out fear.
⁵If fear exists, then there is not perfect love.

⁶But:

⁷Only perfect love exists.
⁸If there is fear, it produces a state that does not exist.

⁹Believe this and you will be free. ¹⁰Only God can establish this solution, and this faith is His gift. (T-1.VI.2:1-2;4:1-2;5:3-10)

There is nothing to fear because only Love is real. Our only function in this world is to forgive the mistaken belief that we have succeeded in separating from Love. This world is the effect of insisting on being special. With this demand came the dream of a world of conflict, differences, lack and loss. Love is universal and eternal; one and the same throughout. There is no place for differences, lack or loss in God’s Love.

He has given us His Voice to help us recognize the fallacy of our belief in separation. As we learn His lessons, our perceptions of differences fade in importance. The brilliant Light of Love grows stronger in our mind. We choose to listen to His Voice today.
